The Yanx have (at least temporarily) benched the struggling Anthony Rizzo. The recently returned DJ LeMahieu (you have to hit the Caps key four times to type that name!!) has been playing 1st the last few days but he's been hurt and/or non-productive himself over much of the last season so it's not like he's a sure thing.
  2. =metirish post_id=158807 time=1718130529 user_id=72] I'm sure players of each generation have had similar gripes about former players
  3. Hello Is it me you're looking for?
  4. =metirish post_id=158745 time=1718106136 user_id=72] I hope the game is as good as this thread
  5. I told ya that he'd eventually find us no matter how hard we tried to hide.
  6. Finally saw a different angle to the game ending play and, yeah, Torrens got seriously upended after he threw to 1st. Legal, but a hard slide just after he released it that took his feet out.
  7. Angels score twice in the 8th and twice more in the 9th to walk-off the Astros 9-7 Houston sits at 30 - 36. Not the kind of territory they've been accustomed to lately.
  8. Betts K's to end it. Dodgers take two of three.
  9. It's the top of the 9th in a two run game and ESPN is shrinking the screen for an interview with Judge!?!?!?!!?!?!!?!?!
  10. Braves win the first game of the series but then lose the next three to the Nationals. Atlanta 16 - 19 since May 1st Judge just homered for the 35th time in the last two weeks (or something like that). Actually 24 in 67 games, or a pace for 58 Yanx 6 - Dodgers 4 heading to the 9th, trying to avoid a sweep.
  11. It didn't look like Torrens turned his ankle on that play. I think he likely got spiked but the camera (rightfully) moved on to focus on 1st base before the sliding runner's feet got to the plate so we couldn't see.
  12. And we can curse the bullpen again (although at least this time they ALMOST blew it instead of completing the job) but save some barbs for those in the top of the 9th. After getting the first two batters on with a walk plus an actual hit, once again (say it with me folks) NO ONE GOT THE BALL OUT OF THE INFIELD!! They hit a weak grounder (play not made, run scores) BB, and then, with the top of the lineup up: PB (run), K, HBP, K, weak GO The offense didn't win that game, Alvarado (with help from Bohm and Realmuto) handed it to us. Don't get me wrong, I'll take it. But they tied it up and went ahead AND STILL had the bases loaded with none out. Most teams tack on two additional runs out of that situation merely by accident. But that doesn't work when you're swinging rolled-up soggy newspapers instead of wooden bats.
  13. Another bullshit replay reversal in the NYY/LAD game. - 1st & 3rd, one out, Yanx batter called out trying to beat out a GiDP ball - Boone challenged and about 17 angles of replay were shown without a single one being anything close to 'definitive' - after more than three minutes of deliberation (and more than four minutes from pitch to pitch) the call was reversed which allowed a run to score and the inning to continue. But, remember, replay will only reverse obvious mistakes and it'll be decided quickly.

  15. Final tallies: Mets ten hits (six singles, four doubles) and 13 total baserunners, but just two runs scored. - There was One run producing hit, it occurred in the fifth AB of the game and was on the third attempt to score the same baserunner. - 11 LOB, 2 for 11 w/RiSP (and several of those with multiple RiSP) and only one of them knocked in a run. - The other run came via a weak grounder to 3B. - They also tried their very best to hit into three GiDPs but managed only one. The other two were hit too weakly.
  16. Was ANYTHING more predictable?!?
  17. Yup! Prior to this inning the Phils had 10 base-runners (9 hits + 1 BB) ... seven of them in an eight batter span. Mets had almost as many (9) but never more than two in any one inning.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: Bryce Harper strikes out swinging. Mets doing a lot of striking out without swinging.
  19. No, they'd go 0h-fer-3 w/RiSP if I were pitching. Note where they got two out hits this inning? With bases empty of course.
  20. 2nd & 3rd, no outs ... and then no ball leaves the infield for the rest of the inning. Lather. Rinse. Repeat.
  21. Vientos forcing out Marte at 2nd which leaves the slower runner on during the double which = zero runs even though LF bobbles the ball. They find ways to score runs, we find ways not to.
  22. Well that inning fell apart in a hurry. Phillies two out hits this inning > NYM two out hits in May
  23. And now on the other side of the field, that's one Marte gets to two years ago.
  24. Heard on the radio today that micc-up players get a cool $10,000 for their troubles. Probably not a tough chore to find one to work with given those conditions. It came up on account of Kiki Hernandez, micc-up during the Apple game last night, made an error while he was chatting.
  25. =ashie62 post_id=158255 time=1717798277 user_id=90] I had started to watch EPL soccer and I feel in love with those early starts
