  2. =ashie62 post_id=163828 time=1721864685 user_id=90] Imagine if Iggy had booted that
  3. Nice play by Vientos. Maybe they'll even allow us to see it on a full screen at some point.
  4. Hey, at least he didn't walk anyone ... AmIrite?
  5. No, we'd never get the bunt down.
  6. * Reds 9 - Braves 4 was the final. All 13 runs scored by the top of the 4th. Nothing but goose eggs after that. * Pirates 5 - Cardinals Zippo So that puts us technically into the 2nd WC slot (by percentage points) and 2.0 G out of the 1st * And the Twins (who we'll see next week) just walked-off the Phillies 5 - 4 w/o a ball ever leaving the infield: HBP, WP, Sac Bunt, IF single

  8. Remember earlier in the season when we were discussing poor roster construction? Seven guys with OPS+ under 100 Gleyber Torres - 2B (.307 OBA) Juan Soto - RF Aaron Judge - CF Austin Wells - C (11 career HRs) Anthony Volpe - SS Alex Verdugo - LF JD Davis - DH DJ LeMahieu - 1B (.183) Oswaldo Cabrera - 3B
  9. Braves down 7-3 in the top of the 3rd!! during game one of their DH with the Reds. That's hopefully good for the standings AND it hopefully means they'll be dragging a tired-ass bullpen into Queens sometime after midnight tonight. (Game 2 is a 6:05 start and Atlanta-based Delta, official carrier of most MLB teams, is the one airline yet to fully recover from the internet kerfuffle from last week).
  10. Tough to miss that one as Jerry is on TV more than most of the players on the field.
  11. DET/MIA - Miggy NYY/MIA - Starlin Castro (Giancarlo was the obvious choice so I went with the guy he was traded for) MIL/MIA - Yelich DET/StL - Dotel (pure guess ... I couldn't think of anyone else) NYY/StL - Roger Maris MIL/StL - Darrell Porter DET HoF - Jim Bunning NYY HoF - Phil Niekro MIL HoF - Hank Aaron 144 score, more than 2/3 of it on Miggy & Yelich
  12. Yeah, instead of one big WC hopeful scrum there are currently two smaller ones. ATL has a 2.0 G WC lead ----- Then it's StL, NYM, SDP, ARZ, PIT all within a two game span ---- then there's a three game gap until you reach ... CHC, CIN, SFG, WAS who are all within one game of each other So those in that last group not only have to fight off each other but then bridge that mni-gap before leaping at least four of the six ahead of them. Still a lot of time left, but it's much easier working from that first pack.
  13. We probably can't count on strafing Cole for 6 runs over 4 innings like we did last time ... but anything that completes a season sweep against these chumps would be oh so nice. Also now just 2.5 G behind the Braves (who have a DH today vs Reds following last night's rainout) for the #1 WC slot on the eve of them coming in for a four game series starting tomorrow. So snagging a W today would be good for reasons in addition to stomping on chumps and sending their fans home crying ... even if that remains today's #1 priority.
  14. Elsewhere tonight: CIN/ATL rained out SDP beats WAS 4-0 O's lose to the Marlins (who does that??) so the Yanx remain 1.5 G behind StL 2 - Pitt 1 ARZ leading KCR 6-1 in the 9th Phils 3 - Twins 0 also in the 9th SFG @ LAD just getting started

  16. Diekman for Prez!!!!!
  17. =Cowtipper post_id=163686 time=1721787260 user_id=166] Diekman?!?!?!??!
  18. OK, here's the plan: Diekman retires Soto then fakes an injury. Then which righty do you bring in to face Judge?
  19. That's like three base running blunders from Bader in just the last couple of days?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
  20. Lefty Specialist wrote: Diekman in the 9th. Me scared. With no Diaz tonight, anyone they bring in will scare you. And even WITH Diaz it would be no walk in the park.
  21. Allowed the walk so he wasn't quite an AutoMaton, but he was close. Unfortunately that one baserunner means Judge will bat in the 9th.
  22. No BB, no HBP, therefore no runs. If the Mets were even an average hitting team with the bases loaded they'd probably be three to five games higher in the standings. Oh-for-four just tonight alone.
  23. 2-0 to T.T. ... TAKE!!!!
  24. I agree with sticking with Torrens here. Alvarez is cold and there's still a 9th inning so there may yet be a spot to use him later.
  25. Nunez for President!!!!
