  1. Y'know you don't get a second chance to make a first impression, Ryne.
  2. Braves have had 7 baserunners in this game (thru 6 innings). Six of them (plus a Wild Pitch) came in a seven batter span. Mets have also had seven baserunners (thru 5), but those were spread out to 1, 1, 2, 1, 2 per inning. And then, just for good measure, they threw a GiDP and an 8-2 putout into the mix just to make sure that no runs were scored.
  3. Well, with the statistical probability of NYM scoring runners from 3rd w/no outs hovering somewhere in the 1.3 and 2.1% range, sending him was probably the logical move.
  4. Three leadoff doubles in five innings ... none of them scored.
  5. Already 0-for-8 w/RiSP. That's a lot of gagging for just four innings.
  6. Peterson has thrown more pitches to get One out this inning than he needed to get the first nine out in innings 1 thru 3
  7. Opponents seem to know how to score their leadoff baserunners.
  8. Yes, this would be a most disappointing split if we lose today.
  9. =ashie62 post_id=164383 time=1722180503 user_id=90] I do not like this trade. Jesse Winker is Ben Gamel in my eyes anyway
  10. A little hitting would be nice. Take away the Game 2 HR barrage and they've notched a total of three runs on 7 hits across 19 innings in Games 1 & 3
  11. =ashie62 post_id=164368 time=1722169890 user_id=90] There is reporting that Binghamton pitcher Tyler Start goes in return for Winker
  12. =ashie62 post_id=164367 time=1722169683 user_id=90] I'm not sure Winker is an upgrade over any Mets outfielder

  14. Career numbers: .278/.383/.469 // 851 vs RHP .210/.323/.338 // 660 vs LHP so a significant difference though good walk rates in both cases .275/.374/.419 // 810 this year in 379 PA w/the Nats Career: .263/.370/.441 So walks a lot, Ks a bit, decent LH power: iow, a better version of DJ Stewart who also runs and fields better.

  16. Not official yet as it's still in the 'medical stage' of things, so no word on return to the Nats. Winker is a 30 y/o FA-to-be so this is strictly a rental. Likely also means the end of the DJ Stewart era.
  17. They're at it again: Sawx are up on the Yanx 5 - 4 after two The game has already featured 9 Runs on 11 Hits, 4 HRs, 5 XBHs, 1 error, and a DP where the Yanx picked a runner off third base following a FO to CF (8-4-5) when he was talking to his coach but was inexplicably standing a foot off the base while doing so and not watching the incoming throw(s). FOX missed that odd play entirely because the booth was talking to Matt Damon and Casey Affleck about their new feature.
  18. Too bad for the Pirates that there was only one out because the batter (a pitcher) falls on his face about 15 feet from home right as the throw was being released. Of course if there were two outs the throw almost certainly goes to 1st to begin with but with his momentum coming in maybe a throw home was his only thought. But, assuming there were actually two gone, if the catcher could have kept his head about him when all others were losing theirs, a throw to 1st in time for the force out would have negated the run despite the runner touching home prior to the out being recorded. Now THAT would have been a totally wacky play!
  19. At 0-for-13 in the series thus far -- high-lighted by the dopey bunt decision -- Kelenic hasn't done much to instill any trade regret among Met fans.
  20. Edgy MD wrote: Schwelly is an annoying revelation here. He's allowed a total of 3 walks over his last six starts and hasn't allowed more than two in any one of his ten ML games (both stats include today's game). NYM pitchers can't go six innings[/i] without issuing at least three walks ... or sometimes three innings without issuing six walks.
  21. Where do they play him I wonder. 2B is my guess while moving Gleyber to 3B which pushes LeMahieu to the bench. In CF and move Judge to a corner? Doubt it, as it's not like Chisolm is a polished glove out there.
  22. Frayed Knot wrote: Look at the silver lining Senga would have earned an opt-out of his contract after 2025 had he pitched 400 innings in 2023-2035 combined. Not going to happen now if he's out for the year. So instead of opting out of the '26 season he winds up 'hopping' out of the '24 season. And instead of throwing a ghost forkball he becomes a ghost pitcher.
  23. Look at the silver lining, the 5-1/3 innings he pitched this season were pretty darn good.
  24. And remember when we were behind the Nats? (seems like yesterday) Now 8 full games ahead pending their outcome in StL tonight (tied in the 8th)
  25. Triple happiness? Shyeeet, after sweeping the Yanx and taking two from the Braves all in the same week, this is like Octuple Happiness!!
