  1. Still tied, bottom of 11 Trea Turned on 2nd, now one out (Schwarber lined to CF)
  2. Phils out in the 8th, still tied. So it's a one inning (at a time) contest to see who has the most successful inning going forward.
  3. Braves go out in the top of the 8th. Tied 2-2 heading to the bottom of the inning in Philly Joe Jiminez in to pitch Padres won today, also DBacks won, Reds won, Cubs won, Cards won, Giants lost
  4. Edgy MD wrote: Pinch-running at first and scoring the insurance run on a ninth-inning double is a pretty fun way to debut. So you're saying that Pablo cruised?
  5. I'm shocked no Young here. Danny, Alex, Dick, Chic, whoever
  6. Solid inning by Stanek ... not a sentence that's been typed often since his NYC arrival.
  7. Taylor in for defense in place of three-hit Winker. And on top of that, one can make a case for Marte deserving to be the first glove out.
  8. Now suppose Winker had decided not to jump-rope that throw in from the OF but instead just froze and let it hit him? I know you can't purposely interfere with a throw but to what degree is he required to get out of the way? It likely doesn't change things if it did hit him but if Alonso had held at 3B a funny bounce of Jesse's kneecap may have allowed a run to score.
  9. When you say there's 'a line drive towards the Pole' during a game in Chicago it could be interpreted as a ball hit at any one of thousands of ticket holders.
  10. Sox get yet another leadoff batter on base in the 5th but don't cash him in as Quintana hangs Sheets out to dry for out #3
  11. Like the father/son Holliday duo, young Baker profiles as a very different player than dad. Darren is a LH stick, possesses little power to speak of but good speed, and is listed at just 5' 10" / 167
  12. Every TV shot of interim manager Grady Sizemore through a game and a half so far seems to show him in the exact same position and with the same expression. I wonder if he stayed in that spot between games too?
  13. 90 pitches thru four innings for Quintana - 50% more than the target you'd like to stay at or under.
  14. So Lenyn Sosa of Venezuela ... son of parents who supported the local Communist Party back home?? I figure it's either that of they were rabid yet dyslexic fans of comedian Lenny Bruce.
  15. Pham continues to be a top go-to in-season move for pennant hopefuls as the Royals pick him up off StL waivers. KC will be his ninth ML team just since 2018 ... and one of them twice! 9/16/14 - ML debut with StL 7/31/18 - traded to TBR 12/6/19 - traded to SDP 3/26/22 - Signs FA deal w/CIN 8/1/22 - Traded to BOS 1/24/23 - Signs FA deal w/NYM 8/1/23 - Traded to ARZ 4/16/24 - Signs FA deal w/CHW 7/24/24 - Traded to StL 8/31/24 - Claimed on waivers by KCR His last full season with one team was 2021 in San Diego Since then two in 2022, two in 2023, and when he makes his KC debut it'll be three in 2024

  17. Mets score multiple runs after getting the anti-leadoff batter on.
  18. Hey Tylor, how 'bout next inning let's try Not putting the leadoff man on.

  20. The Gentleman from Verona: Samuel Aldegheri is slated to start for the Angels vs the Mariners tonight and when he does he'll become the first ML pitcher born and raised in Italy. San Remo, Italy born Alex Liddi, who played 61 games for the Mariners between 2011 and 2013, was the last Italian position player (IF/OF) The 22 y/o Aldegheri was playing an Italian league as recently as 2020. Since then he's hit various stops first in the Philly system and now with the Rocket City Trash Pandas (no, really, that's the team name) the AA affiliate for LAA. Madison, LA in case you're wondering cuz I certainly was (I guess it's near Huntsville). Elsewhere: Milwaukee and the Reds have a DH today. Brewers won the day game in the 10th. Sand Diego is in Tampa this weekend. Cardinals @ Yanquis And of course it's Game 2-of-4 for Braves @ Phillies
  21. The ChiSox have won a hair over 26% of their home games this year. So using that as a guide, the Mets have a 74% of winning each game. But to get to a sweep you have to go W - W - W where there's a slightly better than 1/4 chance of losing each ... or .74 x .74 x .74 = .405124 So a 40% chance of a sweepage given those generic parameters.
  22. An interesting side note to the game was Mendoza replacing Torrens with Alvarez strictly to catch Diaz in bottom 9th No double switch was employed so Alvarez stayed in Torrens's lineup slot which would have led off a potential top 10th if the 'backs tied it up but you don't make that move unless you also think it'll help out the pitcher also, even if it's just a psychological boost.
  23. Phive to Phour Phils is your Phinal
  24. First of a four game Braves/Phils series in Philly starting tonight. If the Braves win tonight they'd close the gap down to 4.0 games, the closest they've been since mid-May. An unlikely sweep would get it down to a single game. Atlanta has righted its ship somehow even as inuries pile up [12-5 over their last 17] after being a below .500 team for over three months. Braves jumped out to a 4-0 lead but a 6th inning 3R HR by Brandon looks like he live in a Marsh ruined Charlie Morton's night And now a 2R HR by Castellanos makes it 5-4 Phils heading for the 8th.
  25. The late start and therefore the lack of innings (just 92 to date) is really the only thing keeping Peterson out of CY consideration.
