1. Beating the throw is only half the game, rook!
2. And you can currently (bottom 3rd) see the STRAUSS logo behind the plate in Philly
3. NY Post: Major League Baseball teams will have advertising on their helmets during the postseason. MLB announced Friday it reached a deal for the postseason ads through 2027 with Strauss, a German apparel company that entered the U.S. market last year. Ads of 5-by-0.92 inches (12.7-by-2.3 centimeters) will be on each side of every helmet featuring “STRAUSS” in capital letters in white alongside the company's ostrich logo silhouetted by a red square, with an alternate color for red helmets. The rest of us ...

You might do better watching the Apple TV broadcast and going to radio for the ESPN game. Apple is at least trying to deliver a good product (and Wayne Randazzo is pretty good). ESPN? Basically unwatchable. I'm attending that game rather than subjecting myself to their broadcast. Except that I don't get Apple+ so don't have a choice in that matter.
5. =kcmets post_id=169797 time=1726149964 user_id=53] Can't believe no one has done this yet.
6. Padres triailing 3-0 in Seattle in top 4
7. Yanx win in the 11th
8. First two pitches of the clown car rules: SB, WP, ... Royals lead 3-2
9. Not sure. I heard that stat more than once this week. It must have had one of those 'in the last X number of years' qualifiers attached to it. In the Bronx, Yanx & Royals tied 2-2 heading for the 10th
10. Even the Yanquis are wearing first responder hats tonight (tied w/KCR 2-2 in the 8th). I thought they were above that kind of stuff.
11. Just another YUGE MVP moment for Lindor. Not that MVP votes should swing on single ABs because you see your guy's big moments but not necessarily his competition's. But, Dayyyyum, that was big!! ... and needed.
12. Apparently Paul Blackburn's back still burns so he's been returned to NY for "imaging". Sounds like his return from the IL is on hold so we'll see another Megill start next time around the rotation at least. Did anyone catch Gary's comments on Tuesday night about, not this Philly series coming up but next week's four-game series at Citified? Specifically he was talking about the TV lineup: Thursday = FOX, Friday = Apple+ (or, as I call it, radio), Saturday = SNY, Sunday = ESPN Ugh!

14. Kyle Finnegan on to pitch for Walgreens Pharmacy - Arcia pops out for out #1 - Laureano K's - Sean Murphy ...
15. It's been about four or five days since we've scored any runs that weren't at least half handed to us.
16. If I'm in charge here this call doesn't get overturned. but it does in just the latest example of the 51/49 theory of governance.
17. There's still three innings left so there's no reason to think four runs isn't obtainable ... except that the past four-five games suggest otherwise.
18. The good news for Paul Skenes is that last night he became the fourth to strike out over 150 in his rookie season. The bad news is that the first three wound up with rather short primes in their careers: Kerry Wood, Dwight Gooden, Mark Prior
19. Well, we're going to have to start hitting at some point so why not now?
20. Not a crisply played game so far: two errors, two WPs (all Mets), one HBP, one near decapitation, and FOUR potential DPs that weren't turned (TOR x 3, Mets x1)
21. In what I tend to think of as the first important series in the history of the club (and certainly the first important one with me in attendance) Down 3-1 in the bottom of the 9th with starters Ferguson Jenkins and Jerry Koosman still both in the game: Boswell (PH'ing for Kooz) doubled, Agee fouled out, Clendenon (hitting for Bobby Pfeil) doubled, and then Cleon doubled to tie it. After an IW to Shamsky and a ground out by Garrett it was left to Steady Eddie Some may recall that Seaver had a pretty good game the following night. They lost the third game of the set but the message had been sent, they were a real team for the first time in their history. btw, complete games in that series for Jenkins, Kooz, Seaver obviously, and Bill Hands in game 3. Game times: 2:09, 2:06, 2:23 In the Seaver game, Ken Holtzman started to get knocked around in the 2nd inning and was pulled with just one out [3 R, 4 Hits] in favor of submarine reliever Ted Abernathy ... who went on the finish the game!! [6.1, 1 R, 4 Hits]
22. Daily Walkoff #11 - 09/10/2024 New York Mets 🟢🟢🟢🟢🚀 dailywalkoff.com First time trying this. Well, second really because I didn't realize at first that you could choose your team. So I tried the Mariners puzzle it defaulted to this morning and predictably got maybe half correct. Then I switched to Mets and ran the table.
23. Maybe the key to Megill is to spring the start on him at the last moment: last night, various Opening Day assignments and injury fill-ins. It's those prepared start that seem to give him trouble.
24. I thought that was out
