  1. And Mauricio is out of the game. Jammed hand/wrist or something of that sort.
  2. The 'worst outfield ever' has 2 RBIs, two runs scored, and an outfield assists so far tonight thru six-plus innings.
  3. In Pittsburgh today, all nine starters in the Pirate lineup had at least one RBI by the 4th inning as the Bucs jumped out to an early 15-3 lead en route to an eventual 17-7 win vs Cincy. 19 hits & 11 walks in 8 frames for Pitt bats.
  4. No, but that's where his muscle memory leads him and it shouldn't have been a 'stretch' play.
  5. And since nobody else brought it up, I will: the Mets failure to challenge the first LAA run scored is a direct result of relying on your eye-in-the-sky to decide on challenge or not rather than on an instant reaction from someone on the bench. Clearly that run doesn't count if a challenge was issued.
  6. I suspect that's from how a 2B normally sets-up for a DP turn: left foot on base so as to not get jostled by a sliding runner. The problem there was the throw.
  7. McLean in innings 1 & 4: 7 total baserunners, 3 runs, 6 hits, 1 BB, 1 WP, while going six up/six down in Innings 2 & 3 Maybe it's just my imagination but he seems to 'bunch' his baserunners so that he/the team give up an above average percentage of runs out of the small number of runners he allows. Tonight's game will push his season ERA to right around 3.00 with a WHIP at still under 1.0
  8. Running out a grounder to 2nd tonight in Denver, Ronald Acuna pulled up then hobbled off the field with what looked like the classic pulled hammy. Either that or it was the mother of all cramps and he'll be back in the lineup tomorrow.
  9. The headline 'Torrens Extended' makes it sound like he's bucking the ABS era trend by being listed as taller this year compared to previous years club bios.
  10. And let us not overlook the work of the pen in this game Brazoban going 1-2-3 in the 6th w/game tied [K, PO, GO] Raley in the 7th, now with a one run lead [GO, K, GO] Weaver in the 8th [K, K, GO] Williams in the 9th [K, K, GO] So with no margin for error that's twelve up, twelve down, and not a single ball leaving the infield.
  11. And on the eve of Kentucky Derby Day too ... nice choice!
  12. 9:38 first pitch with Nolan McLean facing Reid Detmers (I promise this time). Y'see, I wasn't wrong, I just had the correct answers too early.
  13. It's a slim lead ... not a sure deal by any means.
  14. 18 in a row retired by NYM pitchers. Looks like we did get rid of the belly itchers after all.
  15. 3rd inning: one out baserunner .... followed by 1st pitch GiDP 4th inning: two leadoff baserunners ... K, K, BB, ? ... F-9 Semien's bases-loaded drive didn't send Adell rolling deep enough.
  16. Well, one of the Mets finally managed to get the ball out of the infield. Unfortunately it was Alvarez when he had his equipment on rather than his batting helmet.
  17. A run would be nice, but I'd settle for a hit right now (don't want to get greedy), or, failing that, a ball out of the infield would be nice.
  18. This is the second game in a row now where Christian Scott sought to be a pitcher but, was in fact, a belly itcher.
  19. Perhaps posting at 6AM following a night of poor sleep wasn't my best move of the week. Probably not even in my top five.
  20. I fail to see a connection between believing in the roster and the state of Polanco's injury/recovery.
  21. The Angles, 12-20 on the season, losers of 10 of their last 11 and coming off a sweep at the hands of the frggin' White Sox, play host to the 10-21 Mets -- losers of, well a lot, but it's too depressing for me to count -- for the weekend. 9:38 is the scheduled first pitch time for youse east-coasters which, just a few years ago, meant a probable final pitch time sliding towards One AM, but now it might even sneak in just prior to the witching hour. Nolan McLean gets the start as he continues his quest to see how many games he can lose (or, at least, not win) with a sub-3.00 ERA, aka: the Jacob deGrom award. Reid Detmers, a LH 1st round draft pick (10th overall in 2020 out of U. of Louisville) takes the hill for LAA. Currently 1-2; 4.48; 1.09 WHIP Prediction: (to quote the late, great Stevie Ray Vaughn) the forecast calls for pain
