  1. One "on track" mark that's starting to come into focus is Pete tying/breaking the NYM career HR record. With his 12th of the season today he now needs 14 to tie/15 to break. At his current pace the time to buy your ticket in advance if you want to witness the event is looking like late August, just as the Mets are in the midst of a lengthy stretch of NL East games. At the moment 'Tie Day' projects to Friday 8/22 which is the opening game vs the Braves although that one is in Atlanta so ... 'ROAD TRIP'!!!! The Mets come home the following Monday to start a series with the Phils which is perfect as HR# 253 currently slated for the final game of that series on Wed 8/27. They'll then stay at home and welcome the Marlins for four games thru Sunday 8/31 so, on the tiny possibility that this schedule doesn't play out as designed, he'll still have those four games to achieve the feat at home.
  2. K is for Kepler, two outs. - Trea Turner up with Schwarber lurking as a potential tying run should T.T. get aboard BUT TURNER FOULS OUT TO 1B and the Brews complete the three game sweep!!
  3. Braves have already lost (to Boston) Phils had an early 2-0 lead but are now batting in bottom 9th down 5-2 to the Brew crew. The other Megill on for the save. - Brandon Marsh leads off with a bloop single. - Stott fouls out to LF (nice catch by Daz Cameron), Marsh tags and advances to 2nd - Max Kepler PH'ing ...

  5. When Diaz feeling confident he works very quickly ... or maybe it's the other way around. But, like that Bader back-pedal thing when he had a deep OF shot lined up, it's a very comforting sight when you see it happening.

  7. Some insurance would be real nice here. We can't count on Diaz to throw up zeroes forever.
  8. I've found his successor! He's a right-hander, not a lefty, and is still in the Twins minor league system. But the Mets need to swing a trade for him pronto. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=parede000michttps://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=parede000mic you have to read his middle name to complete the joke
  9. OK, Gary ... NOW it's a 4-3 Mets lead!
  10. Some random scores from Saturday: 1-0, 1-0, 2-0, 2-0, 17-7, 16-3, 18-2, 11-7 'It's just baseball, Suzyn. You can't explain it'! In that 11-7 game the Nats scored 10 in the top of the 1st (including 9 without making a single out) and led the DBacks 11-zip after 2. They then held on to win the damn thing 11-7
  11. Dodgers are edging the Yanx 14 - 1 while still batting in the 5th inning! Starter Will Warren managed to retire four batters. Unfortunately for him the other seven he faced all scored. Teh one NYY run was, of course, a Judge HR
  12. Mickey Moniak (full name: McKenzie Matthew Moniak) Just turned 27, this former 1/1 draft pick out of a California HS by the Phils in the 2016 draft is now in his 3rd organization after being traded once (for the decaying corpse of Noah Syndergaard) and released once (by Anaheim!!). He's now batting 9th on maybe the worst team ever with a 78 OPS+ Just goes to show you: Ya never know.
  13. I was yelling 'INSIDE THE PARK' as soon as Baty's hit bounced away from the CF, but nice backup by the LF so he had no shot.
  14. Dodgers 8 -- Yanx 5 in a HR-fest out on the left coast. Judge and Ohtani both HR in the 1st inning (which means 80% of the LAD fans weren't in their seats yet). HRs for Judge (19), Wells (9), Goldschmidt (6) // Ohtani (21, 22) Max Fried got fried [5 IP 6 R, 8 H]. It was his first game giving up >2 ER in a game this season.
  15. Phils phall to Brewers 6-2 Braves losing 3-1 late to Boston
  16. I think stiletto-type spikes on those rails which would impale any ball that clears the fence would end most ambiguities.
  17. It's obviously a HR but the stadium can't be hitting the light show so quickly. Do it right or don't do it at all. Better yet, don't do it at all.

  19. Yup. 5/29/24 was the Jorge Lopez glove toss game, his final one as a Met, and his post-game 'worst organization in baseball' comment. He was officially released in early June.
  20. Braves jumped on Wheeler in the 4th and cruised to an easy win. So a split of the makeup DH (probably the best result for us) as Phils take two of three in the series. For the upcoming weekend: Braves host the Red Sox Phils home vs Brewers And the big matchup: Yanx @ Dodgers and, yes, it's the second straight FOX/Saturday ESPN/Sunday display for the L.A. Ohtanis
  21. ... was the nadir of the 2024 season. At the end of the May 29th game, a 10-3 loss to the Dodgers to complete a three-game sweep in which the Mets were out-scored 18-5, the Mets dropped their record to 22-33 leaving them in 4th place a full 16 games out of 1st Lindor on May 29: .211/.279/.372; Alonso: .231/.308/.453; Nimmo: .214/.355/.380 Want to hear the run-up of games to May 29th? ... Sure you do - May 22: Mets lead Cleveland 2-0 but then give up 3 in the 6th, 1 in the 7th, 2 in the 8th - May 24: Mets lead Giants 6 - 2 then give up 5 in the 8th plus 1 in the 9th - May 25: Mets lead 2 - 1, Giants tie it in top 9 then score 5 in the 10th - May 26: Mets score 3 in the 9th to win!!!! - May 27: Rainout - May 28 (G1): Mets lead 2 - 0, Dodgers score 1 in the 8th, 1 in the 9th, 3 in the 10th - May 28 (G2): LAD 3 - 0, Dodgers 3 runs, Mets 3 hits - May 29: Mets score 3 in the 6th to tie it, but the Dodgers answer with 6 in the 8th and 1 in the 9th The comeback is usually timed from June 1st on but they actually won their final two games in May to get things rolling and 'improve' their May record to 9 - 19 Then, I don't want to spoil anything for those not paying attention, but it got better after that. June: 16 - 8 July: 17 - 10 Aug: 15 - 13 Sep: 17 - 9 A stretch which included the double west coast road swing in August and then a Sept/Oct run consisting (consecutively) of: PHI (x4), ATL (x1), MIL (x3), ATL (x2), MIL (x3), PHI (x5), LAD (x6) So maybe losing the finale of a three game set to the ChiSox isn't the end of the world after all.
  22. Braves trailing 4 - 5, Top 9 in Philly, two outs / none on. But then BB, 1B, BB against closer-du-jour Jordan Romano ... who then Ks Eli White looking to end the game. Phils have now won 11 of 12 They were rained out last night so will play again at 6:45. Chris Sale v Zach Wheeler will be your marquee matchup (or your Marquis matchup ... whichever you want)
  23. =Radar post_id=193935 time=1748461854 user_id=182] Who is our hitting(lol)coach? Better question do we even have one. If so find another one.
  24. And remember, all replays will be decided quickly Five innings in just under the two hour mark. Not exactly the stereotype get-away/rain-threatened quickie. Y'know, the one where the HP ump would announce, Better be ready to swing the bats today, boys prior to the start of the game.
  25. 3 - 2 - 2 [R - H - E] is a line score you don't see a lot.
