  1. So the big news today is that Shohei Ohtani will be tonight's starting pitcher for the Dodgers against the rival Padres. This all despite Dave Roberts saying, just a week or two ago, that the most likely return to the mound for him would be post-ASG. But such is the state of LAD pitching these days. Now he's essentially being slated as an opener tonight and it's highly likely he only goes one inning. But it's not like they were about to send him out on a rehab stint in the minors since that would rob them of their best hitter so this sounds like a good way to break him in. It will be his first game on the mound since ditching that other SoCal team for the Dodgers at a rate of $16.85/hr for the next decade or so before finally collecting, like, $10 billion in deferred cash during the 2040's The Dodgers, still two games behind the Mets despite our lost weekend, lead the Giants by 2.0 games, the Pads by 3.0, the DBacks (now 36-35) by 6.5 and the Rox by 137.48 Tonight's other debut will be Giancarlo Stanton for the Yanx as they host the (surprisingly-not-so-terrible) Angels (33-37). And though I may have to investigate further, this might be the first time Stanton and Mike Trout will be on the same field at the same time as Trout has now played every LAA game since returning to action on 5/30. Phils will be slumming in Miami for the next four nights whilst we tangle with the Braves to start the week.
  2. Out-scored in the series 24 - 9; Out hit 34 - 23; Out-XBH 8 - 4; and I don't even want to talk about the walks (actually it was only 16 - 13) So other than all that stuff it was a pretty good series.
  3. Edgy so disinvested that he doesn't realize ye's posted in the wrong thread four times now.
  4. I'm starting to think that they're not going to pull this one out.
  5. Sox complete their sweep of the Yanx in a low scoring series at Fenway: 2-1 (10), 4-3, 2-0 Judge: 1/12 ... although that one was a game-tying HR to send the game into extras. So while we're in the process of losing three games off our lead over the Phils, the 2nd place Rays have leap-frogged the Jays over this weekend and are looking to gain three on the Yanx [-6.5 down to -3.5]
  6. Now 7 - 1 Rox On the flip side, the Phils are up 10-2 on the Jays looking to complete the sweep.
  7. That was a replay review we hadn't seen before.
  8. Braves are now down to Colorado 5-1 in top-7 w/Rox still batting and ducks (2nd & 3rd) on the pond. But the Braves still bat three more times so I fully expect them to win by the mercy rule before this one is over.
  9. Mets have hit a bunch of warning track flies in this series.
  10. Gotta say, Baz's blond stache with the darker brown beard is an interesting look. Mine was slightly like that but not nearly as big a contrast.
  11. Oh good, more walks, missed cutoff men, and soft infield grounders for a run.
  12. Pitches through 2 innings: Canning 46, Baz 24 And that's not going to help going forward either.
  13. Nothing like 3 runs despite just one piece of solid contact by the offense ... and even that might not have happened had the (slightly) taller Lindor been out there instead of Acuna.
  14. Griffin Canning vs Shane Baz (not to be confused with either movie director Baz Luhrmann or musician Boz Scaggs) Shane Baz:26 y/o; R/R; former 1st round pick (12th overall) of the Pirates in 2017 out of HS 13 starts this season: 5-3, 4.97, 1.34
  15. Mets have gotten 16 outs so far today. Torrens is responsible for three of them.

  17. Lots of game left ... keep chipping away. Last night they did a lot of threatening away, but no chipping.
  18. Well, the pitchers aren't retiring too many Rays, but Torrens is.
  19. We're not used to seeing this staff give up 13 runs over a 13 inning span but that's just what they've done in the last game + 1/2
  20. He's looked recently like he'd never seen a curveball before, much less hit one.
  21. Results of MRI showed a 'Grade 1' (least severe) hamstring strain. Two weeks rest, then further evaluation. On the flip side, Montas got bombed in a start for Syracuse last night [8 ER in 1.1 IP], his third poor start in three AAA outings. He will, according to Stearns, 'need an additional appearance in the minors before a decision is reached on activating him'. https://nypost.com/2025/06/13/sports/mets-get-good-news-on-kodai-sengas-hamstring-injury/https://nypost.com/2025/06/13/sports/mets-get-good-news-on-kodai-sengas-hamstring-injury/
  22. Isn't this like the Rays' 17th mound visit of the night?
  23. - Yanx down 1-0 in the 9th in Fenway ... Judge hits a 1 out HR to tie - Yanx wind up on the short end of two calls in top-10: an attempted SB of 3rd by the ghost runner (originally safe - overturned) and then a batted ball down RF line (called foul, call upheld) - Boone ejected for arguing the non over-turn cuz he's arguing with the wrong guys. But of course all calls are supposed to go the Yanx way so he has the right to do that. LeMahieu ends the inning with a groundout then He's ejected for yapping at the same 1B ump - Sox get a two-out hit off the Monster in bottom 10 to win 2-1 In the old days this would have gotten George to claim the league, and the umps, and the schedule makers, and the weather were all 'Anti-Yanqui'
  24. The Rays keep trying to hand us this game and we keep refusing to take it.
  25. Pete swung at one strike that AB. Three pitches, but only one strike.
