  1. They can't continue to lead the planet in BBs and expect to get away with it night after night. Especially seeing as how the offense has scored more than four runs just once in their last eight games.
  2. Gary mentioned Trout's first eight seasons: 2011 - 2019 [1009 OPS / 178 OPS+] Starting in 2020 he's appeared in less than 1/2 of LAA games [393 of 808]. His OPS+ was still 156 but he was only occasionally in uniform. His first eight full seasons he appeared in 89%
  3. Three things we've seen a lot of from NYM pitchers in the 3+ games since the ASB - 3-2 counts - leadoff hitters on - infield hits by the opposition
  4. Mets: three outs on ten pitches Senga: four outs on 27 pitches
  5. With all the splits Senga threw they must have gone through at least 15 different baseballs in the top of the 1st.
  6. LAA is not as bad as we've gotten used to them being of late: last winning season was 2015 (85-77) and they've lost 85, 89, 89, and 99 games from 2021 thru 2024. But they're just one game under now (49-50) and +4 since June 1st. They also just took two of three from the Phillies which was right nice of them and in recent weeks did the same to both the Yanx & Braves so they're not just feasting on a weak part of their schedule.
  7. The back side of the field part of the stadium is where the pre-game Tim McGraw/Pit Bull concert is going to be. (Finally, those two together at last!!) It's unclear to me if one ticket gets you into both or not. As far as the tiered stadium goes, my guess is that there are so many seats you can get out of just one tier given the MUCH bigger plot of land the "field" takes up to begin with (Wiki sez that Bristol has a capacity of 146,000 though not all of that is seating) that there's simply no need to build second deck. btw:https://phpbb3.ultimatemets.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=33641&p=166027&hilit=Bristol#p166027
  8. But his ML BA/OBA, after pieces of four seasons and nearly 1,000 trips to the plate, is .223/.298 with only his power getting his OPS+ close to average (98). That kind of low-average/decent power numbers profiles more as a perpetual backup catcher (only without the good defense) and in this season even the power wasn't there (29 hits / 23 singles). Now the 2025 numbers are a small sample size which might have justified him being sent down but shouldn't be tagging him as a career second string label, especially for one still just 23 y/o. But what I am saying is that, at some point, he'll need to show he can improve or risk getting hung with a rep as a platoon C/DH vs LHPs or, even worse, as a AAAA player who'll bounce around looking for work in between getting released on a regular basis. So there's still time for him (especially seeing as how his FA year just moved one year further away) but there's also no time like the present for him to get going.
  9. So that's seven HRs in a six game span in AAA for Alvarez vs six XBHs (3 2B, 3 HR) in a 35 game span in MLB It would be nice if some of that translates to the higher level because his profile is starting to trend towards that of a low-BA/low-OBA catcher with occasional puncher's power. And that kind of profile is usually how they refer to ML backup catchers, except that those backups are also usually top-notch defensively which F.A. is not. He's still young (24 in Nov) so none of this is set in stone. But you don't want to see him top out at as a poor-defensive feast/famine backup or as one with a rep as a AAAA hitter.
  10. Milwaukee has caught the Cubs to form a dead heat at the top of the NL Central, both at 59-40. Brews ran their winning streak to ten with a win today (they also own an 8-game streak from late May so their Ws are coming in bunches) while the Cubs lost to the BoSox. Perhaps even more impressive is that six of the ten wins came against the Dodgers [also MIA (1), and WAS (3)] giving them a season sweep of LAD (6-0) The Cubbies led by as many as 6.5 G in mid-June - Philly lost today to go 1-2 vs LAA, so it's back to just 1/2 G back for the blue and orange - Yanx took two of three from the Braves but Toronto swept a series from SFG so the Jays increased their lead this weekend to 3.0 G (5.0 over BOS) Oh, and the SNB game is featuring road gray unis for the visiting Tigers vs powder blue homes for the Rangers. That's just wrong.
  11. Man the Mets tried really, really hard to lose that game. But they failed to even do that.
  12. Grand Slam, Trent Grisham: 12 - 8 Yanx Braves led 5-0 at one point. Yanx have scored 10 of the last 11 runs
  13. Phils win. Braves & Yanx tied 8-8 after 8

  15. And do we even have to mention the 1/10 w/RiSP (vs the Reds' 3/7), or that they turned 7 hits plus 6 walks into a whopping 2 runs?
  16. That's two REALLY BAD strike three calls on Soto. His first AB and now this one.
  17. Get a gift by the defense ... give it back with interest on the very next pitch.
  18. Starting with base loaded/one out and hitters 1-2-3-4-5 coming up: K, weak GO, K, K, K
  19. Almost like it's pre-ordained.
  20. Great AB but it won't mean shit if someone here can't get a knock.
  21. Did this guy grow his hair like that after they made him a set-up man or did the Reds decide his role after taking one look at him.
  22. That 3-2 offering to Baty from Mr. Rogers wasn't anywhere near the neighborhood.
  23. Well, let's see if we can do anything with a leadoff walk, besides, y'know, not coming close to making contact by the first batter.
  24. Two runs off one legit hit in the inning.
  25. Three straight grounders where there was potential for GiDPs turned into just two outs total. But the biggest crime remains yet another leadoff walk.
