  2. It was a very Puig-ish game. 2 Ks - both looking and grumbled about them both 1 hit but it went for XBs one highlight reel catch and throw which c/should have been a DP a strong yet off-line throw on another play which failed to get a tagging runner and then got doubled up himself twice: once by being overly-aggressive (the Campbell catch) and once by not knowing/following the rules (the botched IF fly rule play). The only things missing were a crashed-into wall and an exploding cigar.

As long as the teams adhere to those standards, any changes the home team wants to make to other distances or fence heights seem fair game. I guess you would need to ask for a waiver if you wanted any of those distances to be shorter. Later Yes, MLB put in minimums and then promptly allowed almost every stadium built afterward to ignore them.

Long, too. He's like a pitching vulture or something. You don't remember him before? He struck out, like, a million billion Mets when we went up agin' him last year (?). Looking that game reveals that UMDB's scorecard is missing some info on the ChiSox side of the ledger, specifically two ABs are left blank [de Aza's in the 5th & the walk-off hit by Ramirez in the 9th] which accounted for Chicago runs. At a quick glance it appears that the Mets won that game. Might want to look into that to see whether it's a one-time deal or some kind of systemic flaw in how you create those.
  5. Very surprising that Ethier is not batting here for Van Slyke.
  6. ChiSox activated LHP Chris Sale off the DL today - which is significant because the Yanx are visiting the Windy City tonight (all week in fact) and are still looking for their first baserunner off Mr. Sale with 1 out in the 6th.

  9. I could justify Recker bunting prior to the wild pitch (didn't LIKE it, but could justify it) but was totally against him trying to bunt Wilmer to 3rd. We scored that inning despite the strategy, not because of it.
  10. Gary and I were yelling the same thing at the same time. ... TAG HIM! You've got to tag him!!!
  11. Can't anyone here play this game?!?
  12. NOW they manage to turn the 1-6-3!

After barely missing a game for his whole career up to this point -- 157+ games EVERY season for eight years including 162 four times. Bit of a tough break for Rangers, but that's part of the risk dealing for guys with long-term deals that extend through their 30s (just turned 30 last week).

  16. You have to remember that that throw would have been from Puig and from short RF; no relays involved.
  17. Murphy would have been out by 35 feet or more had he tried to run on that one.
  18. I'd really like to see us knock this freak's tattoos off?
  19. Our recent record with bases loaded and/or two on remains perfect as Young can't get the ball out of the infield just like every other AB in the last two days.
  20. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: MFYs going to the 13th Where they won the game on more Cubby incompetence. The eventual winning run scored via a wild pitch that missed the plate by about 7 feet. I think the whole extra innings thing anyway was just a ploy to have the Chicago crowd see Jeter's last AB at Wrigley (what did he have career, like 15?) over and over again. Every time they thought it was the last one he'd come up two innings later for another. On the plus side the north side crowd got to watch him go 1-fer-7
  21. Day action today The Cubs continue to show Jeff Samardzija how to be winless despite an ERA that's under 1.4 -- Yanx score twice in the 9th on an infield error to tie their game in Wrigley 2-2 7 shutout innings from Samar.... gone to waste. Could be worse though, you could be the Tigers who blew leads in the 9th (2 runs) and the 13th (1 run) and finally lost on a bases loaded balk. It was a balk-off win for the Indians. Indians aren't good but on Tuesday they got to Verlander for 5 runs on 11 hits, then today hit up Scherzer for 7 runs on 12.
  22. In hopes of bringing tonights game home in under the execrable 4 hours 8 minutes of Tuesday night, NYM manager Terry Collins is going with a shortened lineup: Juan Lagares - CF Dan Murphy - 2B Dave Wright - 3B Chirs Young - LF Curt Granderson - RF Eric Campbell - 1B Wil Flores - SS Tony Recker - C Jake deGrom - P

  24. The dimensions are not extreme. The main problem with the original design, as much as the RF corner seems to be the target of many folks, was instead the LF side. If you want to favor pitching you can make the walls high or you can make them far; the CitiField mistake in LF was doing both. That's now fixed as the walls are considerably less high and they're also less far. The stadium as a whole retains the feel of a pitchers park but not extremely so and, if those numbers cited above remain accurate over time, maybe not even pitcher-friendly at all.
