  1. Oh good, let's let them get enough runners on so as to get the meat of the order up this inning
  2. Save Opp #2 for the Mets. Familia was unable to convert the first one. Torres tries for it this time.

  5. Can somebody get a freakin' hit on this team?!?!?!?!!?
  6. Zvon wrote: Yep. Horrible day for Murphy. I never thought I'd see him do what I just saw. Shame on him. It's like he's been invaded by the spirit of Timo Perez.
  7. If I actually had a life, these games would be ruining my life.
  8. We'd be having a much better series if David Wright had shown up for it.
  9. Edgy MD wrote: Murphy: The Irish word for "Brainfart." It's amazing how stupid he's been lately. Didn't seem to be this way all along but not only is he getting thrown out on the base paths with great regularity these days but it's mostly been off of 3rd base w/<2 outs. And I don't know what he was thinking on that Ryan Howard bouncer. Howard is the slowest non-Molina in the league.
  10. Leaving far too many potential runs out there. Please don't allow that to come back to bite us.
  11. d'Kong76 wrote: Marlon Jerrard Byrd -- slick fielder David owes Marlon a couple a pay-back robberies already in this series.
  12. Ruben having himself a day! Meanwhile, if I'm the Phils I'm walking deGrom with 1st base empty and pitching to Young
  13. When a pitcher wears that number does he automatically start giving up home runs?
  14. Edgy MD wrote: And he's the guy who was supposed to get one start and then go help out in the pen. Message to Montero: You get a spot in this rotation, you bite DOWN. Yup! Competition is a wonderful thing. With a staff minus Gee, Harvey, and Hefner, there are still enough guys out there to where the weakest link, even if only temporarily, get rotated out when he hits a rough patch. Also no automatic holes in the rotation every fifth day; no Jay Bells taking up a roster spot the entire season while contributing nothing; Cy Oung now not guaranteed a regular spot, etc.
  15. I hope that Ruben HR doesn't turn out to be a bad thing in the long run. Y'know, one HR now in exchange for a barrage of fly outs trying to replicate it later on.
  16. dGrom looking deGood!!
  17. Hey, he's working to a 1.27 ERA, a sub-1.00 WHiP, and better than a 5/1 K/BB ratio in Las Vegas. I say: ride that horse til it drops. With Gee's return date seemingly fuzzier by the day, Montero down and Matsuzaka back to starting makes the most sense for now, though I like Dice in that long relief role.
  18. Toronto OF Jose Bautista has 9-3 assists on would-be singles to RF [u:35gscqgl]in consecutive games[/u:35gscqgl] against the Royals - neither one of them pitchers. Omar Infante (who lost sight of his hit or thought it was foul somehow and didn't run until it was too late) and Billy Butler (just plain slow) were Bautista's victims.
  19. Matsuzaka - 0.5 Edgin - 1.0 Familia - 1.0 Torres - 1.4 Black - 1.4 Abreu - 1.9 d'Arnaud - 0.9 Tejada - 0.9

  21. On to inning 14 and hour 6
  22. Catcher Kevin Plawecki makes BA 'Hot List' for this week 9. Kevin Plawecki, c, Mets Team: Double-A Binghamton (Eastern) Age: 23 Why Hes Here: .462/.500/.962 (12-for-26), 6 R, 4 2B, 3 HR, 10 RBIs, 2 BB, 2 SO The Scoop: He may never be a defensive wizard behind the plate, but Plawecki continues to show improvement, and if he keeps hitting like this, hes going to find a way to play most every day. He hits for average, has average power and strikes out infrequently. Add it up, and its a very useful combination of skills and tools. Man, that's a heckuva week!
  23. If this game goes past midnight are Montero and Burnett allowed to come back in?
  24. Well, we can't blame the pen for this one -- that's now 7-1/3 of 1 run, 3 Hit ball. 4 BB / 7 K Unfortunately our bats have done about as well off the Phils pen
  25. Amazingly, Abreu is the guy I most want up in this spot.
