  1. The rest of the NL East is all in-division this weekend. The bottom two teams won which keeps our lead while tightening up the whole group from 2nd to 5th Braves got 2-hit in Philly by Aaron Harang w/help from Ken Giles. Phils won 1-0 in the 9th off Jim Johnson: 1B - Sac-Bunt - PB - E3 Nationals continue to not hit and lost in Miami 3-2 courtesy of Mat Latos's first decent outing of the year [6.1, 2 runs on 6 hits]. Tanner Roark took the loss in relief of Jordan Zimmermannnnn
  2. Nieuwenhuis - 0.6 Granderson - 1.2 Robles - 1.0 Campbell - 0.6 Gilmartin - 0.3 Goeddel - 0.3 Duda - 0.5

  4. How can you lose to a team with both a Chase and a Chasen on their roster? All they need to do is sign Chaz Bono and they'll be all set.
  5. Cuddyer = Silver Surfer In honor of his hair.

Like I said, it's not like it would have reversed the score or anything but, starting with those first two strikes to Grandy to lead off the game, the ump's handed Pineda more than a couple of favors tonight.
  7. OK, I know this isn't the difference in the game, BUT HOW MANY TIMES IS PINEDA GOING TO GET THAT STRIKE SIX FUCKING INCHES OFF THE PLATE?!???

Teixeira now has had 7 of his 12 hits this season go over the fence. Also 4 of 8 for Stephen Drew; 4 of 11 for ARod; 4 of 15 for Chris Young That's fargin' ridiculous. Geez. That's pretty good considering the crap they are taking. It's fucking ridiculous is what it is (even in that stadium) and also unlikely to continue. If they could simply decide to hit HRs that easily the team BA wouldn't be as low as .239.

  10. I counted ONE swing and miss for deG over 3 innings. I don't know what his usual rate is but I'd be willing to bet it's normally one of the higher ones in the league. 11. btw, for out of owners who either don't normally get Met telecasts, or don't want to depend on their computer or 'game-casts' feeds, or who might be fed the dreaded YES crew and think there's no alternative, MLBN is carrying this game on their channel with the always good team of Costas & Kaat.

Reading this just makes me uncomfortable. I think a line has been crossed. You liked it better when he did it with pictures? I'm just glad he opted out of the version that included sound effects.

  14. Just in case you missed one of Giancarlo's ABs yesterday, you need to see it. It's a hard single to left ... until it isn't. http://m.mlb.com/video/v85871483/miaphi-stantons-laser-shot-takes-the-express-route/?affiliateId=clubMEGAMENU
  15. Dilson Herrera lands in the #9 spot on BA's Prospect Watch for the week with a 15 for 34 week including 5 XBHs 9. Dilson Herrera, 2b, Mets Dilson HerreraTeam: Triple-A Las Vegas (Pacific Coast) Age: 21 Why Hes Here: .441/.472/.647 (15-for-34), 7 R, 4 2B, 1 HR, 5 RBIs, 2 BB, 2 K, 2-for-4 SB The Scoop: Everything is going right for the Mets right now. They have the best record in baseball and a franchise-best 11-game winning streak. And they have one of the most talented teams in Triple-A, which has provided the depth needed to survive injuries to Travis DArnaud, David Wright and Bobby Parnell. But the Mets success might slow down Herreras return to the big leagues. If the Mets had struggled, second baseman Daniel Murphy would likely be a trade target. But now its hard to see that happening, which means Herrera will continue teaming with Matt Reynolds for one of the best middle infield combos in the upper minors. In 14 games this year, Herrera has nine multi-hit games.
  16. Of course it's going to be disappointing when this streak ends and particularly so if it ends this weekend. But it'll really suck if it ends with a [u:seto4r6a]series[/u:seto4r6a] loss here (either 1-2 or, gasp, 0-3) as this is one of the few time since interrelate play begun where we've been the obvious better team.
  17. Edgy MD wrote: This leaves the West looking like an ambiguous mishmash, with the leaders on a three-game skid and the last place Giants on a three-game run. Not a coincidence as those three-game runs by the Dodgers and Giants are the result of a head-to-head series where the home Giants completed a three-game sweep, including twice via walk-offs. Middle game was Kershaw [2 runs on 3 hits over 6] v Bumgarner [2 runs 6 hits over 6.1] although neither wound up involved in the decision. Nothing like an early season last place over first place sweep to really tighten things up.
  18. The problem with sideline/in-the-stands reporters isn't that they exist it's that the networks now consider them mandatory (like maybe the other networks will all laugh at you if you don't have one or something). So now each outlet feels it necessary to have one whether they're any good or not, and then the booth is going to go to them when directed to whether there's something interesting to say at that particular moment or not. I liked Kevin to the point where he was the one guy I'd actively pay attention to when they threw it to him. Other than that, if they all disappeared tomorrow I'd not only not miss them but it would probably take me a while to even notice as, more often than not, it's just white noise to me.
  19. Colon - 3.0 Carlyle - 0.5 ATorres - 0.3 Familia - 0.3 Murphy - 2.0 Campbell - 1.0 Duda - 1.0 Granderson - 1.0 Lagares - 0.9
  20. Nigel Tufnel is today's Schaefer Player of the Game And, like Nigel, is wasn't pretty.
  21. Before his career is over, this Cuniff pitcher on the Braves has to play for the Pirates ... and be managed by Terry.
  22. Part of what's amazing about this winning streak is that they're doing it while going like 1-of-57* in replay reviews even though virtually none of the calls that went against them have had 'clear and convincing' evidence that the call needed reversing (or not). * may not be exactly accurate
  23. MFS62 wrote: But like Merkle's boner, Ruth's called shot and Mickey Owen dropping the third strike, it is part of baseball lore that is still remembered. And maybe even partially true.
