  1. The opposite of a moving memory: something that I remember about that game is that I was watching the ATL broadcast (either mlb.tv didn't exist or it was on TBS or something else) and Skip Carey, the worst of all the announcing Carey's, that POS dead jackass, after the game when "New York, New York" (I think) was playing, moaned "and we have to hear that song over and over". F you, you dead sack of sh*t, rot in hell. He couldn't put aside his anti-NY bias for a moment and understand the significance of that game. He had to stay a homer and by that, I mean a garbage, loser of a human being. Enjoy hell.
  2. Repeats are listed on September 11 at 1 PM and 5:30 PM.
  3. Diaz made it look easy. Nice work, guys. Keep it going in DC.
  4. Once again, Luis makes a decision and it hurts the Mets.
  5. Maybe the Mets should use an "opener" with Carrasco pitches.
  6. Edgy MD wrote: Oh, I think the Mets manage to make the news plenty. I didn't think that I needed to add "#sarcasm".
  7. For a team that's never in the news, between this and the ESPN doc on '86 (starring G-Fafif) the Mets will be in the news a lot this month.
  8. Toronto traded for him, waived him and he is finally a NY Met. IIRC, he wanted to be a closer and then re-enter the FA market with that label so he rejected the Mets offer and went to WSH to be their closer. He wasn't very good so they traded him to TOR where he failed again as a closer. He is now a Met and not a closer.
  9. If I said it once, I've said it a thousand times: way to go, Nationals! https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/09/01/nationals-covid-vaccine-mandate-bob-boone/https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/09/01/nationals-covid-vaccine-mandate-bob-boone/ [bLOCKQUOTE]The Washington Nationals are undergoing a staff shake-up after mandating a vaccine requirement for non-playing employees, including the impending departure of longtime front-office adviser Bob Boone. The Nationals also told eight scouts that their contracts will not be renewed for next season, according to multiple people familiar with the situation, with two of those decisions based on unwillingness to comply with the vaccine mandate.[/bLOCKQUOTE]
  10. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: So our seats were between the Honda sign and the foul pole. Great view of Conforto and Jesus Sanchez and not so good of the partially-obscured jumbotron or the batter especially if you were like me and left your glasses at home. Was hopeful to get between-innings balls or HRs but no; a ton of young kids who'd gather at the fence angle had priority and we didn't interfere. Lunchpail was helping me with Spanish so I could tell Sanchez things like "I have you on my fantasy team!" and "JD Davis nearly made a great catch on that foul ball you hit, dinny?" That didn't work either but later a fluent Spanish speaker in our section carried on a little conversation with him, apparently telling him jokes. A kid seated in the row directly in front of ours participated in-- and set the season record -- in the whiffle ball HR contest between innings. he's gonna to be a star, also collected a conforto ball and dissed some fellow 10 year old punks who were pretending to be marlins fans but were actually yankee fans. Said it was the second time he'd done it and he'd learned from the experience; he smashed the last 4 our outta there in a second or two to win and launched the bat into the outfield in celebration. His mom told us onlookers were so impressed the first time they'd invited him to play in their little league on roosevelt island... he had never played in a lg before then. Hilarious that Villar fell down 3 times before finally getting tagged out. Baez really hits the ball hard. even his fouls were vicious live. the Marlin pitcher made an amazin attempt on that ball he lost, forehanded it at like 99mph to 1B. williams is good home by 10pm I like the good vibes in this message. It doesn't sound like a 7-inning win in 2 hours feels like a "gyp".
  11. Two, just two, players may be added to the roster today in the September roster expansion. I can't imagine that they need any more pitchers other than another LHP. I guess the other spot goes to McCann if he's ready so they can "carry" three catchers. Peraza is rehabbing in Syracuse. Drury could be another candidate. UPDATE: WRONG!!!
  12. George Burns? Oh God!
  13. Both teams are off on September 27 so why play 2 on the 28th?
  14. Gorgeous swing by Michael. When Baez scored did he look for his earring?
  15. Another Villar special. I mean, he's a good player but jeez.
  16. 1. Gary's call. 2. Gary's enthusiasm. 3. Ronnie's "keeping going" 4. Ronnie's admiration for Gary's "TURN THOSE THUMBS AROUND!" 5. Keith's not giving a frig.
  17. If McNeil doesn't go head-first toward the ball does Conforto catch it?
  18. "Sometimes you gotta give credit to the other team." Ronnie, the Marlins are in last place and the Mets are allegedly a good team. Merely "giving credit" to bad teams is an excuse for poor performance and the Mets are poor performers.
  19. Alonso makes like Baez and swings at shit.
  20. So even though they are playing 2 games in one day this is not a doubleheader and the teams can add an extra player for the shorter game which is being played at the doubleheader length even though, again this is not a doubleheader.
  21. "That's a big gamble", says Keith. What an embarrassing throw... X2. Also embarrassing: MIA gets two hits w/a RISP while the Mets couldn't (and Lindor bunted!).
  22. The Mets ineptitude w/RISP in this April game is not a good sign for the rest of the season.
  23. Wayne just said, "we'll have the first pitch to the third batter in just a moment" and Howie laughed. The host on MLBN (the game is on MLBN) said, "technically it's not a doubleheader". If it isn't then why is the 2d game 7 innings? If the suspended game was resumed yesterday, when both teams were off, then the regular game would have been 9 innings but because the players' (I guess) decided to keep their day-off the regular game in a non-doubleheader is 7-innings.
