  1. Very nice photos (and family).
  2. "Is this anything?" was a Letterman bit but if Taijuan was tipping his pitches and someone from the dugout was whistling the type of pitch to tell the batter is that cheating? Some would say that it isn't because no technology is involved (no one was looking at TV monitor or through another device) while others would say that it's hypocritical to still complain about the Astros cheating and then justify this because it was "natural" (again, no devices were involved--as far as we know). Villar seemed to figure it out and after giving up 3 HR's, Walker retired the next 13 batters. https://twitter.com/martinonyc/status/1437407008475553794 https://sny.tv/articles/yankees-in-dugout-continue-to-insist-no-sign-stealing-against-metshttps://sny.tv/articles/yankees-in-dugout-continue-to-insist-no-sign-stealing-against-mets
  3. Lefty Specialist wrote: Well, I hold a grudge and the thought of Molina sweating his ass off in a meaningless spring training game makes me happy. F him, Wainwright, and the horses they rode in on. Absolutely. Believe me, sitting among those yokels, the alleged "Best Fans In Baseball" which means that they don't boo or criticize but they endlessly cheer for their team, was very annoying.
  4. The Cardinals are in Flushing for a 7:10 start. Adam Wainwright (sigh) (40) against Rich Hill (41), sponsored by Miracle Ear, Roman, and AARP. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/cardinals-vs-mets/2021/09/13/632478#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=632478https://www.mlb.com/gameday/cardinals-vs-mets/2021/09/13/632478#game_state=preview,lock_state=preview,game_tab=,game=632478 STL is one out of the 2d WC spot and the Mets are 3 out. With the Mets 5 back of ATL and PHI in 2d place, the 2d WC might be the Mets best hope of making the playoffs but they will need to play well against STL and PHI this week as those are two of the teams ahead of them for the 2d WC. The Mets split a 4 game series with STL in early May. STL is managed by Whitey Herzog, I mean Mike Shildt. Their 1B Coach is named Stubby Clapp. Expect the typical Cardinal hagiography as GKR talk about Lou Brock, Willie McGee, Yadier Molina, Wainwright, et al., ad nauseum. (A personal note: I stopped resenting all of the love for Molina two springs ago when I went to a game in Port St. Lucie and he started for STL. I remember reading that Jeter wasn't issued a road ST uniform one year because there was no way he would travel in the spring and yet here was Molina, sweating under the Florida sun in a practice game so he could learn the new pitchers. At that point, I stopped resenting how much everyone loves him. Still, F that guy.) WEATHER: https://www.rotowire.com/baseball/weather.phphttps://www.rotowire.com/baseball/weather.php LINEUPS: Cardinals: 1. Tommy Edman (S) 2B 2. Paul Goldschmidt ® 1B 3. Tyler O'Neill ® LF 4. 5. Wow. Diaz got out of it. He might have been the only one who expected that result. Nice going. 4 hours but a helluva game that should be played as a "Mets Classic" on SNY (with a new audio track from GKR).
  6. The MFYs play again in 14 hours. Too frigging bad.
  7. CHILLS. (ESPN didn't show the ball landing because they wanted Lindor's reaction.) https://twitter.com/Mets/status/1437264090024615938
  8. How 'bout a run here and an easy top of the 9th?
  9. Edgy MD wrote: Somebody's got to pitch. Not to Stanton unless he's gonna unintentionally intentionally walk him. That's on Luis as much as on Hand b/c Luis should know the "strength" of the pitcher and tell him what to do if Hand can't figure it out.
  10. Edgy MD wrote: Well, homers to Stanton happen to a lot of guys. I'm just glad there was nobiddy on bez. Some "biddy" was on base. It was a 2-run HR to a righty when a K machine and a lefty was on deck. There was no reason to pitch to him.
  11. =Fman99 post_id=77517 time=1631503248 user_id=86] Stupid Brad Hand and his porno mustache.
  12. =bmfc1 post_id=77464 time=1631492800 user_id=73] What will end first? This game or the NFL game?
  13. When you tell yourself that you expect a DP but would take a K to keep the inning alive, a Sac Fly is a pleasant surprise. Nice going, McCann!
  14. FK: HA! LUIS: Stand up for your players.
  15. What will end first? This game or the NFL game?
  16. And would make the games with STL this week even more meaningful.
  17. Seriously? Mr. ESPN is at it again. All of the pertinent information is in my cogent introduction. My non-cogent comments come during the game if the Mets are losing. I'm at my peak right now!
  18. =G-Fafif post_id=77444 time=1631483627 user_id=55] Clarke Schmidt pitches for the MFYs. He wears No. 86.
  19. It's an 8:08 PM start on ESPN in the deciding game of this 3 game series. We can look forward to more of Alex R.'s thoughts on the importance of 9/11. https://www.mlb.com/gameday/yankees-vs-mets/2021/09/12/632522#game_state=preview,game_tab=,game=632522https://www.mlb.com/gameday/yankees-vs-mets/2021/09/12/632522#game_state=preview,game_tab=,game=632522 Clarke Schmidt, not Clark Bar, Clark University, Clark Gable, or Clarke Peters, has been called up to start against the Mets. He started one game for the NYY last year so this is not his debut. As stated down-thread, he's wearing #86. It's Carlos Carrasco for the Mets. He got through the 1st inning last time but that was an exception this season. https://www.mlb.com/player/carlos-carrasco-471911?stats=gamelogs-r-pitching-mlb&year=2021https://www.mlb.com/player/carlos-carrasco-471911?stats=gamelogs-r-pitching-mlb&year=2021 An unimportant thing I noticed: the NYY lineup has players with a "G" initial in each spot from 4 through 8. Not Dylan Gee. Yankees: 1. DJ LeMahieu ® 2B 2. Anthony Rizzo (L) 1B 3. Aaron Judge ® CF 4. Giancarlo Stanton ® LF 5. Joey Gallo (L) RF 6. Gleyber Torres ® SS 7. Gary Sanchez ® C 8. 20. "Hijack" might not be the best word to use in a 9/11 game thread.
  21. (Deleted. As irrelevancy has taken over the thread.)
  22. We will never know thanks to McCann making the last out but Maz was on deck and if McCann tied the game the right move would have been to send up Almora. He's just as likely to get a hit and he's faster so if he made the last out of the bottom of the 9th he would have been the automatic runner. I wonder if Luis would have gotten this point.
  23. Damn, Pillar didn't know where it was at first.
  24. After this shitstorm of a telecast, it's nice to know that we don't have to deal with having the Mets on F*x until... NEXT SATURDAY!
  25. You didn't need to throw that, Javy.
