4th inning and no IGT?

A new [u:e73c99b5df]Onion [/u:e73c99b5df]piece on the Pirates: Pirates GM Unable To Trade Xavier Nady For Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter August 2, 2007 | | Onion Sports The Onion Pirates GM Unable To Trade Xavier Nady For Alex Rodriguez, Derek Jeter PITTSBURGHDespite a series of phone calls to Yankees general manager Brian Cashman made right up to Tuesday's 4 p.m. trade deadline, Pirates GM Dave Littlefield was unable to secure the rights to surefire Hall of Famers Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter in exchange for those of rightfielder Xavier Nady. "I don't understand This was a trade that could have benefited both teams," said Littlefield, frustrated by the Yankees' refusal to consider the trade even after Littlefield sweetened the deal by offering shortstop Jack Wilson for pitcher Mariano Rivera. "We would have gained sorely needed offense in the infield, while the Yankees had a chance to get a little younger and pare payroll at the same time. Plus, they could have bolstered their defense, as Xavier plays first base, too." Littlefield also confirmed that that the St. Louis Cardinals had pulled the plug on a potential Shawn Chacon-for-Albert Pujols deal at the last second.

Did Rizzuto get a Grammy for "Paradise By The Dashboard Light"?

I am stunned: my son and I are seeing Glavine at RFK this Friday and I thought it would be cool if he wore a "Glavine 300" shirt.. they're aren't sold on the website! The Mets have actually not taken advantage of a chance to make money.

I don't understand why this couldn't be done between 12:30 and 1. I enjoyed the fans booing Bobby Cox.

Nice of Jeff Wilpon to get dressed up for the Glavine ceremony.

Gary Cohen wonders while Heilman wasn't used instead of Mota... Willie double switched which means that Willie wanted Mota to pitch the 8th as well. WHY?

Every f'in night, something else goes wrong. This must be cosmic payback for an almost perfect '06. Mota should walk off the mound and onto the unemployment line right now, 2 year contract be damned.

Milledge should go in for D in the 9th, but where? He's an upgrade at any position.

Cohen's extra happy--the sooner the game ends, the sooner he begins a rare in-season weekend off.

FYI: Carlos D. is one walk away from the Mets one-game record. The Media Guide has Vince Coleman with the record of 5 but it was a 16 inning game ('92).

KA-KA-KA...

Edgy--deal!

An article says that he'll pitch Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm hoping Tuesday and then again next Sunday for Binghamton... because they'll be in Bowie on 8/12.

It wasn't Martin and Jackson? The Brewers Are Burning?

Since we're predicting, how about Sam Perlozzo returns next year as the 3B coach. (And Rick Down resurfaces as the hitting coach of the Nationals.)
