  1. smg--I agree. I posted about this possibility on Thursday. He can definitely hit but the Mets can't think much of his throwing ability.
  2. METS: Luis Castillo 2B Alex Cora SS Carlos Beltran CF Gary Sheffield LF David Wright 3B Fernando Tatis 1B Ramon Castro C Ryan Church RF Johan Santana LHP (4-2, 0.78) Giants: Emmanuel Burriss 2B Fred Lewis LF Pablo Sandoval 3B Bengie Molina C Randy Winn RF Juan Uribe SS Aaron Rowand CF Travis Ishikawa 1B Randy Johnson LHP (3-3, 5.89)
  3. I got the lineups from The Post. It's also posted at Newsday and the News. Every game day, about 3 hours before game time, Lennon (Newsday) and Hubbach (Post) tweet that the lineups are ready. Rubin doesn't tweet but posts them around the same time at his blog.

Dave Lennon tweets that it's a stiff, right calf.
  6. We wouldn't want that, especially after such a fine KTE.
  7. ="sharpie":ko7owbjz]So we play 12 innings, use everyone on the bench and in the bullpen, fly across country and now we're two players down with no reinforcements.[/quote:ko7owbjz] Great point. Add to the mix that F-Rod probably needs a day off. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr May 14 2009 03:19 PM ="Centerfield":c6iyig4n]Just DL Delgado already. Even a slight tear sounds scary.[/quote:c6iyig4n] I mean, forChrissakes, considering time served at this point, he'd be out a week, tops. Also, if something freakish happens to Tatis, we're down to a Cora/Murphy 1B platoon, and Jerry has nobody to pinch-bunt. themetfairy May 14 2009 03:24 PM ="Centerfield":2w0z2xxy]Just DL Delgado already. Even a slight tear sounds scary.[/quote:2w0z2xxy] Agreed. Gwreck May 14 2009 04:40 PM I saw this movie last year with Ryan Church and the do-we or don't-we disable him bit. I didn't like it then, either. MFS62 May 14 2009 09:19 PM ="Gwreck":2ewh9qp6]I saw this movie last year with Ryan Church and the do-we or don't-we disable him bit. I didn't like it then, either.[/quote:2ewh9qp6] Wasn't that the one in which they fly the guy across the country, just to make sure the problem is aggrivated before they are sure he is really hurt before they DL him? Yeah, I remember that one. Or is that this sequel? I forget. Later
  8. Sez you. I addressed it here because it's worth watching B. Molina to consider whether he should be a Met.
  9. It was Saturday.
  10. Great KTE. Bengie Molina is a FA after the season and the Giants have a top prospect for next year to catch so it doesn't look like he'll stay. I wonder if the Mets will be interested in him. He can hit but he's 34.
  11. Two pearls from Jon Heyman, the most overrated--OHMIGOD, it's the KARS FOR KIDS COMMERCIAL! ARGH!!!--"expert" in the business. The former is unattributed, the second his observation: David Wright and Jose Reyes have disappointed at least one Mets official so far. "Maybe they have a hot streak in them." The Mets look nervous whenever Johan Santana pitches, like they're not going to live up to his standards. And they often don't. Crazy that they're 4-3 in his starts with his 0.78 ERA.
  12. Nick Evans almost made the Mets, would have if not for Sheffield's arrival, and has now been sent from AAA to extended ST for a week. He'll then go to Binghamton. (Merged from IGT Braves @ Mets, 05/12/09, 5/12/2009)
  13. Great KTE. We're getting too formal in the KTEs and not expressive enough. This was an excellent mix of information and personal reflection.
  14. Tomorrow, Saturday, will be our first game at CF (section 414). My older son will be there, taking the bus from Cambridge just for the game. I can't wait. I will joined my favorite author (it's not Chuck Palahniuk, although he's really good, too).
  15. That reminds me of the WBC game when Victorino stood on the base at 2d but subtly stuck out his leg so a throw from CF, after a catch, would hit him and he could advance.
  16. MF Victorino ran into Reyes! These umps are awful!
  17. Billy Ripken does a good job on MLBN, just as he does on XM Baseball. He is also a great teacher of the game at the Ripken Baseball Camp.
  18. Tweets from the media say maybe no F-Rod and JJ tonight so it's all you, Johan. Also, Takahashi may not start on Friday: http://blogs.trb.com/sports/baseball/mets/blog/
  19. Ugh. Great job by Putz, botched by Castillo.
  20. Great win. Fell behind, didn't cave, everybody contributed, the bullpen held on, no drama, under 3 hours.
  21. "Don't push me cause I'm close to the edge I'm trying not to lose my head, ah huh-huh-huh It's like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder How I keep from going under It's like a jungle sometimes it makes me wonder How I keep from going under"
  22. A tweet from the NY Post says that they are backing up the rotation so Maine goes tomorrow. Also, Ollie has a bad knee so he might go on the DL.
  23. Enjoy the day off, folks. How sweet it would have been to say that the Mets swept an abbreviated two game series against the Phillies instead of sitting on a loss for two days. The teams have mutual off-days on Sept. 14 but I don't think that MLB will want to wait that long to make up the game in case there is rain during the next series in July. That would mean a DH on either July 3, 4, or 5 (even though the Mets are off on July 2 and 6, the Phillies are not).
  24. In DC, the HD signal on FOX has disappeared. What about in NY?
  25. You have a valid point about not using two players but I don't have any sort of crush on Castro--I just thought that Jerry handled the situation badly on Wed.
