I'm just asking, would you have done DeRosa for Parnell? Parnell is the Mets equivalent of Perez.
  2. Would Cabrera be in LF if Damon wasn't sick?

Every Mets fan knows it--it's the song in the Amstel Light commercial.[/quote:20mqorid] Is that the ad that starts with an old man screaming something in Dutch? That always has me diving for the mute button.[/quote:20mqorid] Same one. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chelsea_Dagger It's played at sports events around the world. But now I see that the Rays are currently using it so forget it... it's not like the Mets to do something unoriginal. LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Jun 27 2009 07:54 AM I actually wouldn't mind "Mama Said Knock You Out." There's an appropriate local tie (LL Cool J's born/raised in Jamaica). And it's fun, bragging, pump-you-up stuff, workable for both leading and comeback situations. But, hey, we did Brand Nubian and Whodini at karaoke the other night, so early-90s LL Cool J is kind of in my taste wheelhouse. Edgy DC Jun 27 2009 08:24 AM The heady days when rappers were threatening to take you out with their awesome dope rhymes and not with a glock. Of course, he pulls out his jammy in verse two. At least he made it to verse two! Then he finishes that verse by knocknig back a 40. And goes on to empty a shotgun on a killing spree. Metahorically. The song has no chance. Don't call it a comeback! I been here for years Rockin' my peers Puttin' suckers in fear Makin' the tears rain down like a monsoon Listen to the bass go boom Explosion, overpowerin' Over the competition, I'm towerin' Records shock When I drop these lyrics That'll make you call the cops Don't you dare stare You betta move Don't ever compare me to the rest They'll all get sliced and diced Competition's payin' the price I'm gonna knock you out! Mama said knock you out! I'm gonna knock you out! Mama said knock you out! I'm gonna knock you out! Mama said knock you out! I'm gonna knock you out! Mama said knock you out! Don't you call this no regular jam I'm gonna rock this land I'm gonna take this itty-bitty world by storm And I'm just getting warm Just like Mohammad Ali, they called him Cassius Watch me bash this beat like a skull Dontcha know I gotta beef wit' Why don't you rip with me, the maniac psycho? Cuz when I pull out my jammy, get ready cuz it might go Blauh! How do you like me now? The reverand will not allow You to get wit' Mr. Smith don't risk Listen to my gear shift I'm blastin', outlastin' Colors like shaft, so you could say I'm shaftin' Old English fill my mind and I came up with this funky rhyme I'm gonna knock you out! Mama said knock you out! I'm gonna knock you out! Mama said knock you out! I'm gonna knock you out! Mama said knock you out! I'm gonna knock you out! Mama said knock you out! Shadow boxin' when I heard you on the radio I just don't know What made them forget that I was raw But now I gotta new toy I'm going insane Frontin' the hurricane Releasin' pain Lettin' you know You can't gain or maintain Unless you say my name Rippin' Killin' Diggin' and drillin' a hole Well I'll pass your goal I'm gonna knock you out! Mama said knock you out! I'm gonna knock you out! Mama said knock you out! I'm gonna knock you out! Mama said knock you out! I'm gonna knock you out! Mama said knock you out! Shotgun blasts are heard When I rip and kill at will The man of the hour, tower of power I will devour I'm gonna tie you up and let you understand That I'm not your average man When I gotta jammy in my hand Damn! Ooh! Listen to the way I slay your crew Damage! Damage! Damage!! Damage!! Destruction, terror and mayhem Pass me a .... I'll slay him Farmers? (WHAT?!) Farmers? (WHAT?!) Ready? (READY) I think I'm gonna bomb a town Don't you never, ever Pull my lever 'Cause I explode And my nine is easy to load I gotta thank God 'Cause he gave me this chance to rock Hard... knock you out I'm gonna knock you out! 6. I think that Chelsea Dagger by The Fratellis would work. Every Mets fan knows it--it's the song in the Amstel Light commercial.
  7. Cap'n Intangibles has been scratched. NYPost_MetsThe Yankees have scratched Derek Jeter from the lineup due to what the club described as "a substantial cough."
  8. Did anybody catch Kevin saying the Tim Russert (!) was the narrator of tonight's SNY documentary? After a pause, he corrected himself.
  9. Thanks for posting that Ashie. Very interesting. I just wonder what F. Martinez has to deserve that ranking. JCL: you were more than "gentle", in my opinion. And re-read my comment: I didn't say that you were dispassionate. I just said that I was being passionate. I have too much regard for you to insult you in the manner you suggested. This blows. We should be angry at this game. Onto Balmer. I think I'll use this free time to take my son to see "The Hangover." Edgy, if you're in the neighborhood, we'll be at the Centerpark theaters.
  10. bmfc1 wrote: So he's "a 20 year old prospect. Get him out of here!" Out of where, the majors or the organization? That was just a joke--a play on the NBC reality series.
  11. Edgy: You still haven't figured out where I'm going so perhaps I'm not being clear. I never said that the Mets should trade him. I thought I asked a very simple question. Maybe it was a bad question but I don't see what's so great about him.
  12. FK: yes I do. Edgy made the same point. So he's "a 20 year old prospect. Get him out of here!" The Mets shouldn't be developing players in the majors but the absence of depth made F. Martinez's presence necessary. I understand why they called him up but I don't see what's so great about him. At this time in his career. Now. When he's 20. Do you? JCL: because sometimes as a fan, you are so passionate that you want what is unrealistic. Castillo didn't even run hard yesterday when the CF slipped on Beltran's flyball.
  13. "somebody else"--I mean you. Or FK. Or Ashie. Or JCL. Somebody in this forum.
  14. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: ="bmfc1"]John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: We should release Santana now. Your sarcasm about G-Fafif's thoughtful and passionate position is noted. It was your position too and as eloquent and passionate as it was it was in service of an idea that wasn't realistic, wasn't fair, wouldn't have helped and invited criticism. Yes, it was my position too and still is. It's unrealistic because our incompetent GM a) chose to pay him until 2011 and doesn't have a better alternative in the system.
  15. "Do I really need to dig up all the independent sources that have him ranked?" I've seen them, too. But go back to my question: what does he show you to deserve such a ranking? "What do I think about him? I think he's 20. And I'd never get rich predicting a 20-yearold's future." Valid point but for a team that is under intense pressure to make the playoffs, you have to decide if he's worth holding onto so he can help the team, if not today then in the future, in favor of a proven player that is better right now.
  16. I hope I'm wrong about F. Martinez. I hope he hits a 14-run homerun today. And I'm not a scout and he haven't seen him play very often. But from what I've seen--this season, in ST, in Bowie last year--I haven't seen anything special. Have you or has anybody else? There have been many articles saying that the Mets won't give him up for another team's mid-level players. Is he that special? If the Twins offered Michael Cuddyer for him, should the Mets grab it or would they be justified in saying that Cuddyer's not good enough?
  17. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: We should release Santana now. Your sarcasm about G-Fafif's thoughtful and passionate position is noted.
  18. Edgy DC wrote: ]And they better send F. Martinez down before he loses all his trade value. Has he shown anybody here anything to make you think that he's as good as the Mets claim he is? I'll disagree. His trade value should have nothing to do with where he's played, but rather his value value. And it's not the Mets' claims that his repuatation hangs on. Wrong. His reputation is the sole basis for his value.
  19. They get a 2 out hit from a nobody and it leads to 4 runs. Our guys can't even get a flyball with the bases loaded and less than 2 out. Pathetic. And they better send F. Martinez down before he loses all his trade value. Has he shown anybody here anything to make you think that he's as good as the Mets claim he is?
  20. As if we needed another reason: After a rehab appearance with Double-A Trenton, Yankees reliever Brian Bruney ripped Francisco Rodriguez to multiple news sources when asked about last night's game. Bruney's take: "Unbelievable, I've never seen anything like that. I have, but in high school. Couldn't have happened to a better guy on the mound, either. He's got a tired act. "He gets what he deserves, man. I just don't like watching the guy pitch. I think it's embarrassing." The rant seems strange coming from Bruney, who has never played on the same team or even in the same division as K-Rod. But then again, the Yankees have a thing for making headlines. --Anthony DiComo
  21. I'm with G-Fafif, cheese and cracker status notwithstanding. Castillo had no business being resigned, certainly no business being resigned through 2011, and shouldn't wear the Mets uniform any longer. It's one thing to drop a pop-up (as chronicled elsewhere, future HOF'er Jeff Kent cost the Mets a game that way once), but Castillo was using one hand--perhaps using two might have balanced him better and allowed him to grab the ball before it hit the ground--and then threw it to the wrong base. I'm sure he'll be out there again today but he shouldn't be. Thing is, our GM is so bad that there's no alternative.
  22. Keep walking Luis. You're fired. One of the worst losses in Mets history. I don't think I'm overstating that.
  23. http://msn.foxsports.com/other/story/9671984/Finger-pointing-may-hurt-Manuel-in-long-run Ken Rosenthal stirs it up today and the Mets are busy refuting the story instead of, I don't know, getting ready to play the game.
