  1. 3 great defensive plays so far: Pridie, Gee and David.
  2. All games should start by 7 eastern time. I'll give them until 8 for west coast games.
  3. F. Martinez is back on the DL. Shocking!
  4. The future--Nimmo and Wheeler today at Port St. Luice:

I don't dislike Wayne as much as, well, anybody else but he tries too hard to tell us each detail of the play. Most times a simple and timely description will do and then use the 30 seconds before the next batter steps in to gives us the description. He reminds me of Felix Unger, here at 6:11: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5gbYmrUBwE

  8. "6-3" is my nickname for Bay because that seems to be the result of half of his ABs.
  9. See if Swinden can be a part of the Mets in '12. Capuano should be moved to middle relief. Harris shouldn't get another AB.

  11. Trade him to Florida for Logan Morrison.
  12. Fuck Wright for not even hitting a ground ball when the IF was in, runner on 3d, down a run. Fuck Bay for reverting to his Mets-form. Every time we think "he's out of it" he reverts. Fuck Thole for being a lousy catcher so he couldn't even block a ball in the dirt with a runner on 3d. Fuck Capuano for sucking so badly that the Mets can't even give him away. Fuck Omar for signing that sack of shit Igarashi. Fuck Terry for bringing in that sack of shit Igarashi. Anybody else?
  13. And FU Jason Bay. Aren't they due to win a one-run game? With Marquis out, Rubin tweets that Capuano has cleared waivers... like AZ would want him.
  14. Edgy DC wrote: First-pitch swinging while down by multiple runs in the ninth. Don't make sense. Dopey Mark Grace said that Putz was in 4 of the last 5 games and threw 21 pitches last night... so make him work, right?
  15. I know they won last night but the AZs are another team that I look at and think that the Mets, fully stocked, are at least as good as them and yet the Mets are well out of it and those guys are in first. Except for the MFPs, who are in a class by themselves (even though their fans have no class), and to a lesser extent the Braves and Giants, the Mets are as good as anybody, even the first place Diamondbacks. Thanks for the report FK.

    Mr. Collins

Yes, he deserves consideration. The media from the "small markets" will say "the Mets should be better than .500 with their resources and stars" and will vote for LaRussa or Gibson or really anybody not from NY. Terry has done a fantastic job (and he was my last choice given his specious background) of keeping the team focused and playing hard despite the team's financial situation, the owner's big mouth, the F. Rodriguez situation and all of the injuries. Much of the media expected a repeat of his prior jobs where the team turned on him: that hasn't happened. Much of the media expected him to go nuts after the first misplay: that hasn't happened. Maybe they will only finish at .500 so some will say "so what?" If they do, they will miss a skillful managerial job by Terry Collins who deserves consideration for Manager of the Year.
  17. A really bad 24 hours for Tejada.
  18. Frayed Knot wrote: What a waste of a lead-off four-pitch walk Agreed. Maybe he'll walk the next guy. Maybe he'll groove one just to get one over.
  19. Terry bunts late, Jerry bunted early and often. I don't like it either but at least Willie didn't hit into a DP. The bunt attempts by Pagan on Sunday (down 1, no one, runner on first) really bugged me.
  20. METS: 1. Scott Hairston ® CF 2. Justin Turner ® 2B 3. David Wright ® 3B 4. Jason Bay ® LF 5. Lucas Duda (L) 1B 6. Nick Evans ® RF 7. Ronny Paulino ® C 8. Ruben Tejada ® SS 9. Jon Niese (L) P
  21. MLB.tv didn't cut the sound out after the top of the 9th so we heard Keith ask: "are they going to bring in the big cheeseburger?"
  22. Anybody still think that Parnell is the Mets closer for '12? Another pathetic outing by Parnell. Good for Terry for leaving Parnell in. It's his mess. The offense got 'em within 2 but that's a distant memory thanks to a AAAA pitcher.
  23. Frayed Knot wrote: That play is in Muffy territory. HA! to the MFYs losing and HA! to FK's comment. Lets see if Kay rips Granderson for not being smart the way he rips Murphy.
  24. He "offered"? As if he has a choice? Perhaps Terry meant he asked "should I bunt." Yes, good points about Evans and D. Wright, too. Team effort tonight.
