  2. Fired. I'm sure he'll be back at ESPN any day now.
  3. I agree with you MWP--but I also think that this system is better than the system that preceded it. Would you support more divisions and no WCs?

Thanks Bud. This is so much fairer. Yes to this. Hey, you want to avoid being put in that situation then win your division. I strongly favor this system to the one it's replacing. I agree w/you FK in that this system is better than the previous system. It's not as good as no WC's (more divisions, perhaps) but it is better as it puts a premium on winning the division.
  5. I hope you're right Ceetar and he's healthy.
  6. Johan's in extended spring training but he'll be ready when they need a 5th starter.
  7. Another cheap homerun gives the MFYs the lead... cheap meaning that it wouldn't even have reached the warning track at most ballparks.

  9. G-Fafif will have the ball to open the '13 season... you don't mess with a winning streak.
  10. Congratulations to G-Fafif and metirish on winning the "Predict the Mets" contest for 2012: G-Fafif 74 88 .457 metirish 74 88 .457 I'll start the next one in late March.
  11. Off-season to do list: get catchers that can catch the baseball. It's part of the job description.
  12. Tim Kurkjian said on the Tony Kornheiser Show today that he is debating between R.A. and Kimbrel. Jonah Keri says Kershaw. http://www.grantland.com/story/_/id/8456259/wading-crowded-mlb-awards-field
  13. Attn seawolf17: Adam Rubin ?@AdamRubinESPN Marlins will start Stony Brook U./New Rochelle H.S. product Tom Koehler against the Mets in the season finale, while using entire bullpen
  14. The Ibanez HR isn't even to the warning track at CF, right?
  15. The end of the absurd Saturday exclusivity period for FOX is great news. I just wish that it could be implemented next season instead of waiting until '14.
  16. Tony Kornheiser on the Nationals TV announcers: it's not just that the Nationals announcers are being paid by the team, it's like the owner is standing there handing them cash.
  17. It's the penultimate game of the 2012 season. R.A. Dickey goes for win #21 and Adam Greenberg will get a long awaited at bat for the Marlins. METS: 1. Ruben Tejada ® SS 2. 18. He's not going to teach fundamentals? Sorry if I misinterpreted your comments.
  19. batmagadmenleadoff:That's a valid point but to me, TC is a horrible manager and if you put Davey on the Mets and TC on the Nationals, my opinion is that the Nationals wouldn't have won the pennant and the Mets would have won more games, but that's obviously just a guess. All we know are the results and the Mets results were bad which normally means a managerial change, but not in this case. Edgy: nice graphic, but I don't agree and we're not going to. You'll get your wish as TC will be teaching fundamentals again in March.
  20. Edgy DC wrote: We're all frustrated. And I still hope the Mets step back from any immediate emotions and act wisely and dispassionately. I hope you're right, but have you seen any emotions from management? Do they really care about how badly the team has played in the second half of the season or are they just trying to keep the team financially afloat? And have you seen any sign that this management team will act wisely? Keeping TC and his "hard working" staff around en masse is to me (but undoubtedly not to you) not a sign of acting wisely.
  21. The manager matters and TC hasn't shown anything to justify being a major league manager, lack of talent (as MGIM suggested) or not. Francona has won two WS which matters and I'd rather have him next year, with as little talent as the Mets have, then TC who oversaw a horrendous second half this year and decided that being 8 games over .500 in May was a "high bar" for the team to stay over. My comments are out of frustration that the Cleveland Indians might get Francona rather than expectation of a change as it's clear that the Wilpons have no money and wouldn't want to pay two managers at the same time.
  22. He won two World Series. That's two more than TC. That's good enough for me.
  23. Can you see this ownership paying for Terry Francona? I can't.
  24. metsguyinmichigan wrote: I know Melvin was somewhere in our front office, but I don't remember him being the third base coach. Corrected. My writing staff apologizes for the factual error.
  25. Terry Francona is available and he's won two World Series but we're the lowdown, cheap, all-but bankrupt New York Mets so we'll keep our bad manager in place. The Mets best manager ever just won a title in Washington, their former scout that they could have hired just made the playoffs in Oakland, even the Mets old 3B almost made the playoffs in Chicago, but we'll keep Collins and his hard-working staff around for another year.
