=smg58 post_id=133300 time=1690722003 user_id=62] The $22.5M the Mets save on this should get us somebody at least as good as Scherzer has been for us in the offseason, plus we get a top-100 prospect. I'll take it.

Martino tweeted "Mets news incoming" and I see Pham is not in the lineup today. Cahna and Verlander are, though. Martino followed that with news about Sam Coonrod's rehab. In other words, Martino was being a dick.

Farewell, sticky fingers! Good riddance. ATL in September. SD in October. HR after HR. I'm curious as to how Luisangel Acuna fits into the scheme of things. The MLB article says that he could play 2B or CF. https://www.mlb.com/prospects/rangers/luisangel-acuna-682668https://www.mlb.com/prospects/rangers/luisangel-acuna-682668 https://blogs.fangraphs.com/texas-rangers-top-43-prospects/https://blogs.fangraphs.com/texas-rangers-top-43-prospects/ Whatever they decide, decide ASAP so they don't crap around as they did w/Mauricio.

Maybe in 3 years, we're saying, "I can't believe we got Vargas for a guy who would be a FA in 2 months" but for now, they acquired two teenagers that will be merely names on a list for 3 years. I thought that they were going for high-level/close to ML-ready players but we have to believe that Billy sees something in these young players.

No Alvarez, no Pham but at least Buck has his special guy in the lineup.

Today's game is now scheduled to start at 5:10.

=batmagadanleadoff post_id=131818 time=1689479221 user_id=68] Nimmo's on a mashing tear. Six HRs in his last 14 games. Plus two that he just missed. One in yesterday's game and a 425+ foot blast in Philly just before the ASG break that couldn't quite clear the part of the outfield wall that was 20 or 25 feet high.
  12. bmfc1
This game reminds me of the Friday night game in Philadelphia when Nimmo missed a ball and Lindor missed a popup. The Mets gave that one away and they gave this one away. Give Pete and Jeff tomorrow off.

"Heading"? He had enough time to book a reservation on 3B. He was drifting toward 3d and being a spectator. The drop isn't on him b/if he was there he could have called off Baty.
  14. bmfc1
AJ P. is right: Lindor should have been at 3B. He was standing around ass-uming the catch would be made when he should have been covering the bag.

You watch and think "they can't play any worse" and then you watch the next game and they do.
  16. bmfc1
Marte really must be sick if he's not batting for Guillorme. Maybe he has the shits like Edgy's dog.
  17. bmfc1
Otta hasn't been great but this is on Pete (and maybe Luis for not getting Muncy's single).
  18. bmfc1
Our good field, no hit 1B cost the team a run. Like Guillorme on Muncy's single, these defensive-only players have to make every play.

If you're watching, you can hit the up button on your remote and you will see a round symbol on the far right of the screen. Go there, click on it, and one of the sound options is "Home Team Radio". It is synced to the picture.

Sprout had to "consent" to being drafted for a 2d time by the same team. I wonder how that consent was conveyed. Do they have a form for him to DocuSign? Is it as simple as a thumbs-up emoji?

This was/is an important game. It was the difference between winning 7 of 8 and having the 6-game winning streak feel like an aberration. It was the difference between momentum and confidence and neither of those. We had an alleged big-game pitcher on the mound and he failed. Maybe the injury and Buck's needless challenge hurt him but he should have been able to overcome both. This game was the difference between "are you saying there's a chance?" and "who can we trade?"

Frayed Knot wrote: So in four pitches the Mets lost their challenge and their left-fielder (plus a no-hitter). And maybe the game.
  23. bmfc1
    $43,333,333.
  24. bmfc1
Ronnie's fillating of the umpire is nauseating.
  25. bmfc1
The pitcher walked two in a row, shouldn't you take a pitch?
