  1. Dwight Freeney - Mets fan and Patriots hater.]I am from New England, so at the end of the day, when I go home, its half Patriots and now its half Colts, he said. You get the wars in the streets. People are talking this, talking that. So for me, its a little bit more special. But I have to go out and cancel all that out and not worry about it. I hated the Patriots, he said. I was a big Giants fan, and the fact is the Patriots werent that good back then. I was always a Mets fan, a New York Giants fan. Freeney wore a MFY cap while saying all this.....The MFY cap was just the fashion Freeney said.
  2. Mr.Met gets all the action...
  3. I saw this card in person.....
  4. Ugly loking thing he is,I wonder if they play the Zephyer song from the Chili Peppers for him.
  5. MFS62 wrote: Even with the addition of Schoenweiss, I'm still not sure that Adkins will replace Williams on the 25 man squad. Yes, Adkins has better stuff, and has 2 years under his belt. But to Willie Randolph, it seems that youngsters are as unloved as the top newspaper in the pile at the newsstand. He seems to prefer veterans. Later You could say that about most managers in most sports, seems to me that Willie played some youngsters last season,I could be wrong but the Omar/Willie Mets don't seem as old as the Phillips/Valentine Mets were.
  6. The Pittsburgh Pirates, filling their need for a left-handed power bat, acquired first baseman Adam LaRoche from the Atlanta Braves on Wednesday for lefty reliever Mike Gonzalez. The Beaver (Pa.) County Times is reporting that the Braves will also receive minor league shortstop Brent Lillibridge in the deal, while minor league outfielder Jamie Romak will be going to Pittsburgh along with LaRoche.
  7. Yancy I think this is worth the effort,I'd ggive the Mets a call and ask for the stat guy(i spoke to him last year about a coach) and see what he can do,then fire off an email to Elias.
  8. One of my new year resolutions for 07 is to stop thinking of Heilman as a starter....
  9. I would like to think that the Mets stuck with Kaz because when healthy he was pretty good,he just never really got that good run.
  10. I'm not sure that Willie has shown that he will give a spot to anyone because that player makes big money, maybe Omar thinks about that stuff but I don't think Willie does.
  11. RealityChuck wrote: It'd be a big mistake in the long run (and probably in the short run) to include Pelfrey and Humber on the opening day roster. They both need more time in the minors. I think that's very conserative thinking, what if Pelfrey has a great spring training, does he get sent down?
  12. Nymr83 wrote: Maine should be #2, el duque has done jack shit to earn it over Maine...not that its really that important, as long as you're not 5th and getting skipped all the time. Well El Duque did plenty when he was a MFY......ok I'm being sarcastic but the fact that Hernandez is a lock for the rotation and Maine still has to win over Willie is silly IMO.... Willie not convinced...yet
  13. My google search led me to this Dawn Easley
  14. I would hope Pelfrey would be a favorite over Sosa.
  15. Who is Chris Basak?...
  16. Ramon Castro signs for one year $850,000.
  17. ] NEW YORK -- Outfielder Endy Chavez, whose spectacular catch in Game 7 of the NL Championship Series saved a two-run homer, agreed Tuesday with the New York Mets on a one-year contract worth $1,725,000. Chavez leaped at the left-field wall to snare Scott Rolen's sixth-inning drive off Oliver Perez with a runner on, keeping the score tied at 1. Yadier Molina hit a two-run homer in the ninth, helping St. Louis win 3-1. The Cardinals went on to win their first World Series title since 1982. Chavez, who turns 29 next month, batted .306 with four homers and 42 RBIs in his first season with the Mets. Because of injuries to Cliff Floyd, Chavez had 353 at-bats. Last year, Chavez made $700,000. In addition to his base salary this year, he could earn $100,000 in performance bonuses: $12,500 each for 120 and 130 games, and $25,000 each for 400, 450 and 500 plate appearances.
  18. Keith Law on Fernando Martinez ] Fernando Martinez (Mets): No prospect shone more brightly in the Arizona Fall League; Martinez's ability and demeanor fit in perfectly with players five or more years his senior. Keith Law, formerly the special assistant to the general manager for the Toronto Blue Jays, is the senior baseball analyst for Scouts Inc. I can't wait for opening day 2012
  19. opinion: Reyes should NEVER be mentioned along with Jeter until he has won at least four WS rings. Fact: Willie Randolph is in the last year of his contract.
  20. We'll need Endy when Alou or and Green goes down with an injury.....just my opinion but I see Endy becoming the regular right fielder in 07....
  21. Dontrelle Willis reached agreement Monday on a one-year, guaranteed $6.45 million contract with the Florida Marlins, a day before he was scheduled to exchange salary arbitration figures with the club. Willis' deal includes $50,000 in incentives, a "sizable" advance on his salary, and bonuses if he makes the All-Star team or wins the Cy Young Award, Silver Slugger or National League Most Valuable Player Award, according to his agent, Matt Sosnick. If Willis stays healthy, he will be in position to surpass the $6.5 million salary earned by the Chicago Cubs' Carlos Zambrano in 2006. That's the most money ever for a starting pitcher in his second year of salary arbitration. "I'm very happy," Willis told The Associated Press on Monday night. "How can you not be? I'm very appreciative to go out and have the opportunity to play baseball." Willis is Florida's franchise leader with 58 victories and 15 complete games, and ranks second on the team's career innings pitched list behind A.J. Burnett. He won 22 games and was runner-up to St. Louis' Chris Carpenter in the 2005 NL Cy Young Award race, and went 12-12 with a 3.87 ERA for the Marlins last season while ranking fifth in the league with 223 1/3 innings pitched.
