  1. That person is trying way too hard to be funny.
  2. I like it when a game is boring and too long that keith will often say so,and I find myself agreeing with him,and now with the September call ups Keith complains about all the coaching changes as do I at home. But when a great game is in progress I can tell he appreciates it,like when he did the 17 inning game in Houston or some of the recent games against the Padres and Phillies.
  3. Did I miss some news regarding Piazza,Fonzie ,Lenny and HoJo?
  4. Predictably St.Louis fans are upset.....with everyone it seems. http://www.stltoday.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=11
  5. Yes Sharpie.... Andujar Cedeno - August 25, 1992 - St. Louis at Houston Luke Scott was the other and more recent player. Luke Scott - July 28, 2006 - Arizona at Houston Some fun facts. * Cesar Cedeno is the only Astro to hit for the cycle more than once * After his trade to Boston, Bob Watson became the first player in major-league history to hit for the cycle in each league * Dan Larson is the only Astro pitcher to start two games in which an Astro hit for the cycle * Andujar Cedeno is the first Astro to hit for the cycle in a losing cause, and the first Astro to require extra innings * Three of the team's cycles have come against the St. Louis Cardinals * The most difficult hit, the triple, has been the first hit in three of the team's cycles * Luke Scott's 2006 cycle was done in perfect reverse order, the first in Astros history. He was also the first Astro rookie to hit for the cycle. Honorable Mention goes to Kevin Bass. In the 7th inning of a June, 1987 game in San Francisco, right fielder Kevin Bass needed only a single to become just the third player in Astros history to hit for the cycle. With the Astros leading, 6-2, the game seemed well in hand. So when Bass lined an easy single to left field, he seemingly joined an exclusive group. But Bass was not thinking about individual accomplishments, but rather making sure his team won the game. Instead of stopping at first, he hustled to second and barely beat the throw in to pick up a double. He lost the distinction of hitting for the cycle, but won a place in the hearts of countless Astros fans. For that, he deserves consideration on this page. Bass batted #5 in the lineup behind Glenn Davis. Jim Deshaies started for the Astros against Kelly Downs. A summary of Bass's game: Thanks for playing.
  6. I'm not shocked ,surprised or disappointed ,certainly a year for the Cardinals to forget of the field at least, perhaps on it too.
  7. Yes Bob Watson was the first player to hit for the cycle in both leagues. Bob Watson - June 24, 1977 - San Francisco at Houston Watson hit for the cycle as a Boston player in 1979. Craig Biggio - April 8, 2002 - Houston at Colorado Jeff Bagwell - July 18, 2001 - St. Louis at Houston Cesar Cedeno - August 2, 1972 - Cincinnati at Houston .....................- August 9, 1976 - Houston at St. Louis Two more players.....
  8. It does seem astonishing how over the last few years the Mets have handled injured players, specifically weather to DL them or not,I think though with certain injuries like the one Chavez had it's difficult to give an accurate timetable for a return. I wonder if it's the same at other clubs.
  9. No to Wynn,Aspromonte,Kinght and Menke.
  10. No to Adam.
  11. No,no and no. Three more players needed.
  12. Cesar Cedeno did it two times. Cesar Cedeno - August 2, 1972 - Cincinnati at Houston .....................- August 9, 1976 - Houston at St. Louis No to the others.
  13. No to Willy F and no to F Ted
  14. I like this a lot. ] 2. But why stop there? The idea that a pitcher deserves massive credit for getting three outs before he allows three runs is preposterous. So we would love to propose modifying the current save rule this way: A save of one inning or less would require no more than a one-run lead to protect -- or the reliever would have to enter with the tying run on base or at the plate. A save of between 1 1/3 and two innings would require no more than a two-run lead -- or the reliever would have to enter with the tying run on base or at the plate. A save of more than two innings would use the definition in the Wes Littleton Rule -- no more than a three-run lead unless the tying run is at the plate or on deck. One general manager was so enthusiastic about this idea, he told us he'd even be willing to propose this rule change at the GM meetings this fall. Wish him luck.

  16. No to Dickshot,we really don't know the Astros. Time to reflect. Craig Biggio - April 8, 2002 - Houston at Colorado Jeff Bagwell - July 18, 2001 - St. Louis at Houston I need four more players but only three more last names.....get it? One was the only rookie to do it for Houston.
  17. No to Dickshot,we really don't know the Astros.
  18. No to Phul and Thon.
  19. None of the above hit for the cycle in a Houston uniform, great guesses though.
  20. One player on the list became the first player to hit for the cycle in both leagues after being traded by Houston to an AL team.
  21. Bagwell hit for the cycle. Jeff Bagwell - July 18, 2001 - St. Louis at Houston 1st inning: 1 out, Craig Biggio on second. On a 1-1 pitch, Bagwell drives in the team's first run with a single to center. Bagwell would later score on a three-run home run by Moises Alou. 2nd inning: 2 outs, 2 runs in, nobody on. Bagwell flies out to center on a 2-2 pitch, ending the inning. 5th inning: 0 outs, nobody on, Luther Hackman pitching. Bagwell leads off the inning by driving a 3-2 pitch to deep left center for a double. Lance Berkman immediately follows with a double of his own, scoring Bagwell for the team's 7th run. 5th inning: 2 outs, 5 runs in, runners on first and second. In his second at-bat of the inning, Bagwell caps an 8-run outburst by homering to left field on a 1-0 pitch, scoring Craig Biggio and Julio Lugo. 7th inning: 1 out, Craig Biggio on third. Bagwell completes the cycle by tripling to right center on a 2-0 pitch. Bagwell then scored on a single by Lance Berkman. 8th inning: 2 outs, Julio Lugo on first. Bagwell walks on a full count and is forced out on a grounder to second by Lance Berkman. For the night, Bagwell went 4-for-5 with 5 RBI.
  22. Biggio did hit for the cycle once..... Craig Biggio - April 8, 2002 - Houston at Colorado 1st inning: 0 outs, nobody on. Biggio singles to center and is later doubled up on a grounder Jeff Bagwell. 3rd inning: 1 out, nobody on. Biggio triples to left and scores on a single by Brad Ausmus. 4th inning: 1 out, Brian Hunter on second. Biggio homers to left, scoring Hunter. 6th inning: 2 outs, Brian Hunter on second. Biggio is walked intentionally and is stranded after advancing to second. 8th inning: 1 out, Morgan Ensberg on second, Brian Hunter on first. Biggio doubles to left, scoring Ensberg and Hunter. Biggio is stranded at third. For the day, Biggio went 4-for-4 with a walk and 4 RBI.
  23. Apparently people are not taking my Killer Bees question seriously ,that's some funny stuff though.....Sean Berry is the fourth Killer Bee,currently the Astros hitting coach. Now back to my other trivia question. What six Astros players have hit for the cycle, one player did it twice.
  24. Edgy DC wrote: We have a dogfight brewing for Pitcher of the Year. Tom Glavine could win it while never winning any particularly month. Meanwhile, Billy Wagner sits behind Damion Easley. DAMION EASLEY! And Mike DiFelice....hell he sits behind Mota and Lawrence.
