  1. David crushes the ball a long way for a double......two big shots in the big yard.
  2. Came across this today Tuesday, May 25, 2010 Rockies - Signed Kaz Colorado Rockies - Signed 2B Kaz Matsui to a minor-league contract. Last time Matsui joined the Colorado Rockies, he was only a year away from tricking Ed Wade into giving him $16 million. However, if Slow Eddie possesses the same unique GM talents that Steve Phillips has that non-GMs don't have, such as reading and talking on the phone, he may not be tricked a second time. Not much of a risk for the Rockies as the team's infield depth at Colorado Springs isn't really all that great. At second, Eric Young Jr's either been in the majors or out with a fractured tibia and organizational player Warren Schaeffer has been filling in at 2nd (normally a .560 OPS in the California league doesn't earn you a two-level jump) so they can really use the organizational depth. When double-checking if there was anyone I had forgotten about on the Sky Sox, I did come across one horror, Paul Lo Duca apparently playing 2 games at second and another couple at third. While Paulie Cashews did occasionally fill in at 3rd a long time ago, if your emergency infielder is an old washed-up catcher, you either be filming a reality TV show or at least trying to get blackmail photos returned that involve something to do with your anus and household objects. 3. This is hilarious....... And after every game, Hernandez would sit at his locker, pulling hard on a cigarette, finishing off the Budweisers thatd been placed in an iced bucket, the long necks sticking out like baby chicks emerging from their shell. jeez , how lame is that line....
  4. Mets have been pumping Barajas at the park recently.
  5. Good questions , he's listed at 6'2" - 215 (that seems generous) , will he be nimble out there?.....is that big for a second baseman?
  6. Some great quotes in there. love this ''It was an amicable meeting but I guess they give you a big meal before they pull the trigger,''Every manager feels a bit uneasy about his future. If it's time for a change, it's time for a change. It's not going to make me bitter toward anyone in life or in the organization. It's not going to take away from my nine years here. 7. I thought he liked the extra work, or is it that he doesn't like warming up for it? I for one would like Jerry to keep managing like that.
  8. I caught the last 15 minutes or so of Phillips on with Francesa....I can't even remember what they were talking about now , what was funny though was the idiot callers calling up to praise Francesa for putting Phillips on his show, modest Mike took note to tell us that Steve through Mark Chernoff is now on in other cities as well...."and if I have played a part in that then good, he's got a lot of good things to say"....next caller called to complain about obstructed seats in the new ballparks.....a valid call....."I don't know what to tell ya....I'm not an architect , I don't know why they do it either"......it was the way he said it though....maybe the caller was surprised to hear Francesa admit to something like that..."whoa , you're not an architect?". My first thought was "you built that fat body of yours Mike".

  10. The Snooze saw fit to make this the back page..... Francisco Rodriguez and Mets bullpen coach Randy Niemann get into heated discussion in series finale Francisco Rodriguez apparently was plenty warmed up by the time he got into Sunday night's Subway Series finale in the ninth inning against the Yankees - K-Rod and bullpen coach Randy Niemann had "a heated exchange" during the eighth, according to two Mets officials. "There was an argument between 'Niemo' and K-Rod," one official said, using Niemann's nickname. "Nothing that doesn't happen on most clubs." The official blamed it on "the heat of the Subway Series and the games. These kinds of things happen. "Those guys took care of it. There's no discipline for arguing. It was a little difference of opinion." Asked if the confrontation had gotten physical, the official said, "As far as I know, no." What is unclear, however, is what sparked the argument and what it was about. Asked if the dispute was about how K-Rod was being used, the official would not answer. "There were some disagreements," the official said. "The matter's been resolved. They both patched it up." Added the other official: "Whatever transpired has been handled." The New York Times reported on its baseball blog that the reliever and the coach "could be seen pushing each other" but added that nothing serious had taken place. The paper's blog entry quoted Rodriguez as saying, "We were just fooling around. We were just kidding with each other." Rodriguez did not return a call from the Daily News. His agent, Paul Kinzer, told The News he had not heard of any dustup. "Must not have been too big of a deal," Kinzer said. "I haven't heard of it from Frankie." Rodriguez entered the game with one out in the ninth, runners on first and second and the Mets ahead, 6-2. He allowed two inherited runners to score, but struck out Alex Rodriguez on an 81-mph changeup to end the game with the tying runs on base for his eighth save. It was Rodriguez's second save of the Subway Series. He got five outs Saturday night, his first five-out save since April 22. Rodriguez, in his second season with the Mets, also had a dispute last season with Yankee reliever Brian Bruney, who criticized his mound celebrations. He also had what was described in The News as a "heated exchange" with deposed Met executive Tony Bernazard on the team bus after an 11-0 loss to the Braves at Turner Field in Atlanta when Bernazard allegedly criticized K-Rod's fellow Met relievers. Rodriguez, signed by the Mets as a free agent before the 2009 season, is 2-1 with a 1.96 ERA this year. The 54-year-old Niemann, who is listed in the media guide as 6-5 and 220 pounds, is in his third tour as the Mets' bullpen coach. He was also the bullpen coach from 2000-2002 and from 1997 through June 8, 1999. He appeared in 31 games for the world champion 1986 Mets and has been in the Mets' organization for 23 years Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/mets/2010/05/25/2010-05-25_krod__coach_in_tko.html#ixzz0owhmh8UT WOW, players and coaches argue?......

  12. Seriously though , if your a Nats fan and after reading and hearing all you have about this kid you'd flip if he was traded. As a mets fan I want to see him stay in the NL East .
  13. Steve Phillips on WFAN: 'I would trade Strasbourg for Oswalt. I would not take Mejia for Oswalt'. Yeah well, we've seen Steve's taste in youngsters .
  14. I tend to agree with you edgy bit I think it speaks to how awful Francoeur has been though.
  15. He only averages 17 wins a season ....who won the AL Cy Young last season cos this guy had a pretty good year.... http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/v/verlaju01.shtml
  16. Chris Rose said that if Dice got to two out in the ninth still going for it then they would take us there.....thnakfully he didn't get there and we were spared whatever Kevin Millar would have said about it.
  17. I think Jerry is the type that firmly believes that a player can play his way out of a funk and thus Franoeur will play everyday.
  18. Why not have "The Animal" play second.....let him go berserk out there.
  19. TransMonk wrote: Yuck. Isn't he the guy who's players petitioned for his firing and then he quit? What's the back story on that though? , is he a hard ass type?
  20. But bad defense can cost you games , throwing Murphy out there because his bat should be better is flawed......and as a Lawyer you should know that.
  21. I think Fernando is on the DL...or was recently
  22. He's great in the clubhouse , I saw a line of his recently of what he's doing since sometime in April...it was horrid.
