  1. There some thought too that bringing back Griffey messed things up but he was there for the 09 season so that doesn't seem to hold water, he had a fight with him too though right? Being Asian I'm assuming he's into kung fu and shit like that.
  2. Deadline day is here Heyman "heard Tak wants 3 years for $4-5 per, NY Times says Mets offering 1 year, doesn't look too good from here" Unless that one year is for $12 to 15 million he's a goner.
  3. Lennon has him as the strongest external candidate . I confess to knowing nothing about him , never heard of the man until he became the Seattle manager. Had a great first season, a 24 game improvement but things turned pear shaped quickly in 2010, what happened there with that? Fred Claire who writes for mlb said this about him "It is the relationships that Wakamatsu has built during his time in baseball that defines him best. He was somewhat of an unknown to the public when he was hired as the Mariners' manager last November, but he is well-known and highly respected within the game." The ultimate insider?
  4. Don Wakamatsu - was at 50/1 Paddy Power is reporting heavy betting coming from the Asian markets , price slashed to 10/1
  5. I like it , revisionist history is kind to DePodesta and the mess with the Dodgers; if you look back at his time there it wasn't all bad and anyway when McCourt came he fired him, some say a few of the local hacks who ere very anti-moneyball helped sway McCourt.
  6. fucks sake man The Mets suspended the 53-year-old Samuels last week after an internal probe that began in midseason revealed that he may have written checks on Mets accounts and cashed them out to cover his own bills and later repaid the "loans" in two to three weeks, the sources said. It is unclear how much of the "loans" were never paid back. Samuels is also under scrutiny for possibly skimming money on the hotel rooms he ordered for players as the team's traveling secretary and for Mets property that went missing from the clubhouse, including hundreds of bats, balls and jerseys. 13. Any guesses? He was caught masturbating on a Piazza jersey
  14. I distinctly remember a few years back both Bobby and the Wilpon's talked about any animosity being long in the past, it was at a charity event they both attended, IIRC it was a Valentine event.
  15. I love Jose and if I was his agent I would be telling him that other teams would likely value him more in FA than the Mets , does Boston have a SS?
  16. By Adam Rubin The Mets added right-hander Manny Alvarez to the 40-man roster on Wednesday. Alvarez, 24, went a combined 6-4 with a 2.17 ERA while appearing at three levels of the Mets minor league system -- Class A St. Lucie, Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Buffalo. The Venezuelan pitcher converted 17 of 21 save chances while logging 78 2/3 innings. He struck out 84, allowed 55 hits, 19 earned runs while walking 12. The Mets' 40-man roster is full at 40 at the moment. The deadline for adding players to the 40-man roster to protect them from the Rule 5 draft is Nov. 19. "We'll be taking some players off the roster before then, so we'll have room to add some more guys to the roster," a team official said.

  18. Rubin says if he were a betting man he would bet that Reyes will not sign an extension during the season and go to free agency. http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/11724/on-reyes-as-a-met-long-term
  19. Money wise he's not woth it, I can't see him pulling down this kind of twine per year in any new contract.
  20. @AdamRubinESPNMets exercise $11 million option on Jose Reyes. Will not prevent contract talks about longer-term deal. Discuss

He was 8th in ROY voting one year. Looking at the 2000 40 man there are at least 5 or 6 guys names I don't recall at all. Ryan McGuire, Dave Lamb, Jim Mann, Dennis Springer....then I click on Dennis Springer's name and see he gave up Bonds 73rd HR in 2001 and the name vaguely comes back to me. Damn The homer came off a 3-2 pitch clocked at 43 miles per hour (a knuckleball) in the bottom of the first inning of Los Angeles' 2-1 loss to the San Francisco Giants.
