    Evans

Snooze had a thing this morning with Evans seemingly resigned to being an Ex-Met , his missus fretting , not a comfortable time was the gist of things.
  4. Edgy DC wrote: Plenty to root for there with Iz. But choosing him over two younger, healthier guys with far more road ahead of them is quite the gamble. I remember when Scott Erickson hurt himself during his warmups to start game two of the 2004 season, prompting Lunchbucket (then Wide BeeGee) to exclaim "Scott Erickson! What were we thinking?!" Which I guess is my way suggesting that buyer's remorse could come fast. and Boyer's remorse when he's not around
  5. Benjamin Grimm wrote: I got an e-mail from Amazon.com suggesting that I might want to read this book. Ummm... no. I'm surprised it even found a publisher(not that I know anything about that trade) , and at 128 pages it's a bit light not just on facts I assume.
  6. Rooting a little bit for Izzy here , saw him interviewed last night and seems like a cool guy(not why I am rooting for him but it doesn't hurt) , his experience could be a good thing for some of the younger guys too.
  7. What'as his fucking thing here?, that the Rays are idiots for trading away Pena who was crap and hitting on the Mendoza line but his team had a .611 winning percentage with him in the lineup, or that the Cardinals should have not traded away Ryan who apparnertly went into the shitter without the SS. The logic on Votto is what?
  8. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: Eh. Although obviously dumb and overwrought, I thought the flick was good at getting inside the idea of friendship among adults. And I'm not too ashamed to admit I saw a little of myself in the pathetic uncool guy who has no friends. I thought he played that awkwardness very well: His nickname fuckingup was very fuinny. this , I enjoyed him and how awkward he was at times .
  9. Edgy DC wrote: I'm more of the mindset that I think something is neurologically wrong with the guy. At least, I'm getting there. I don't doubt that at all, I've read over those articles again and there is so much wrong with them that if he had an editor they wouldn't see the light of day. Thing is I can remember liking some of his stuff at the Times.
  10. Joe Posnanski writes a blog entry in response to the Chass blog about Musial. http://joeposnanski.blogspot.com/2011/03/men-of-honor.html
  11. Saw a tweet that Mike Hampton announced his retirement too......I didn't weep.
  12. Dickey's missus gave birth Friday morning to Van Dickey at 8am. While I might not normally like the name Van it goes great with Dickey....
  13. I hope he can catch the ball too, I know the apparent thinking with the Mets now is offense at 2nd and that's fine but woe betide him if he'snot good with the glove. I don't see that being tolerated at all.
  14. Fair enough , a good a reason as any.
  15. What's your thing with Pujols bucket?
  16. Nuts for nothing but I don't like comparing Minaya with Thomas , it's convenient at times to forget that the Mets farm under Omar wasn't as bad as some think and he didn't go nuclear on contracts like Thomas did with the Knicks. [code:3pa7dnb0]Alderson is here to do the same job, essentially, that Donnie Walsh was brought in to do when he took over for Isiah Thomas three years ago: Dump the old, expensive, bad players and find some young, cheap, and (one hopes) good new ones[/code:3pa7dnb0] The Mets were not in as bad a shape as the Knicks were when both Minaya and Thomas were ousted.
  17. Let's trot out the clichs They immediately sent top prospect Jenrry Mejia, whose progress the previous administration stunted so dramatically he could probably sue,
  18. John Cougar Lunchbucket wrote: I have a huge problem with this article right off the bat. I think Lietch completely mischaracterizes the fanbase so he can "lecture" us back off the ledge and afaic, he can fuck himself with the bat on his Cardinals jersey. Any intelligent Met fan has modest expectations for this 2011 team and an expectation that the turnaround management in place can do more with less next year. We've known this for months. I have them winning the WS in the predictions thread , my genius shall be revealed as the season progresses.
  19. I know it's getting close when Monk throws this thread up. NL East: Philadelphia - 91 - 71 NY Mets* 89 - 73 - I really think we are in for a surprise this season Atlanta - 84 - 78 Florida - 82-82 Washington - 59 - 103 NL Central: Cincinnati - 89 - 73 St. Louis - 88- 74 Milwaukee - 87-75 Pittsburgh - 83-81 - finally a winning season Chicago Cubs - 78-84 Houston - 70- 92 NL West: Colorado - 90-72 San Francisco - 88-74 LA Dodgers - 82-82 San Diego - 82-82 Arizona - 75- 87 AL East: Boston - 94-68 Tampa Bay* - 91-71 NY Yankees - 89- 73 Baltimore - 84 - 78 Toronto - 81-83 AL Central: Minnesota - 90-72 Chicago WS - 88-74 Detroit - 82-82 Kansas City- 78-84 Cleveland- 65-97 AL West: Texas - 92- 70 LA Angels - 91-71 Oakland - 88- 74 Seattle - 79- 83 * = Wild Card Playoffs: Cincinnati over Phillies NY Mets over Colorado NY Mets over Cincinnati Minnesota over Boston Tampa Bay over Texas Minnesota over Tampa Bay WORLD SERIES: NY Mets in seven games NL MVP: Pujols AL MVP: Hamilton NY CY: Halladay AL CY: Price NL ROY:um AL ROY:um again
  20. According to a Philly guy on twitter there is every chance Castillo will be released by the Phillies , things not going good apparently.
  21. See, this is why Joe will be missed somewhat on SNB......that kind of insight you just don't get anywhere.
  22. Did I read correctly that they are measuring Bond's balls in the court proceedings?
  23. Mike Francesa dismissed JC Lunchbucket as shortsighted and noted that the yankees would not have done this, " Street is not my kind of closer", noted Francesa in between gulps of cola ," Tulowitzki is tied down for too many years and he's not Jeter you know", Francesa then hung up on the caller.
  24. And sales of what are known as full-season equivalents a mix of small and large season-ticket packages are projected to top out at 10,000 this year, less than half the total sold just two years ago. Without any major player signings after last seasons 79-83 record, there might not be much for fans to root for. this is a real killer for teams right? that seems like such a small amount of packages sold for a team with the Mets fanbase.
  25. Read this stunning article from Chass on SABR. Chass has found a book that backs up his years of thinking that SABR is utter bollox. http://www.murraychass.com/?p=3106
