  1. Only difference I could find was Any player under contract may be placed on waivers ("waived") at any time. After MLB's July 31st trade deadline and through to the end of the season, however, a team must place a player on waivers if that player is to be eligible to be traded.
  2. Not really odd though is it?, MLB is a business and it's office probably runs like most others M-F, even though games are everyday. more If a team claims a player off waivers and has a viable claim as described above, his current team (the "waiving team") may choose one of the following options: arrange a trade with the claiming team for that player within two business days of the claim; or rescind the request and keep the player on its major league roster, effectively canceling the waiver; or do nothing and allow the claiming team to assume the player's existing contract, pay the waiving team a waiver fee, and place the player on its active major league roster.
  3. For people like me who are confused by waivers Baseball America How do waivers work? A waiver is defined as a permission granted for certain assignments or for the unconditional release of a major league player. A team asking waivers must notify the commissioner's office by 2 p.m. ET Monday through Friday. The commissioner's office will then notify all of the other teams of the waiver request. The other teams then have three business days to file a claim. If no team claims the player, the waiver is granted and the player may be assigned as the team desired. If a claim is filed, the team may withdraw the waiver request and keep the player if they so choose. Otherwise the player shall be assigned to the claiming team. If more than one team files a claim, the priority goes to the team with the worst record within the same league as the team filing the waiver request. Waivers are required for assignment to the minor leagues for any player who does not have options remaining. three business days........he went on Monday? http://www.baseballamerica.com/help/faq.html#waive

  5. Can't even picture him.....
  6. Sent to NY for tests, or perhaps testis ?
  7. LF in the NL East is pretty shallow right? .
  8. Jun 10-13 at Pittsburgh Apr 5-7 at Philadelphia
  9. Of all the Kuntz to get traded for .
  10. Granted I hare not watched more than an inning of ST games but Martinez seems to have flown under my radar completely, how was his spring?

  12. Amazin Avenue The Mets announced today that righty ground ball machine Blaine Boyer will make the Opening Day bullpen, beating out Manny Acosta for one of the last remaining roster spots. Manny Acosta, a very different pitcher from Boyer, has been designated for assignment. We covered Boyer a bit when the Mets signed him, and Sandy Alderson mentioned the Boyer-Acosta battle during our conference call with him last week: "[Y]ou've got a couple of guys, [blaine] Boyer, Manny Acosta, who are very, very close in terms of overall results, but they get there in different ways. Boyer is basically a ground ball pitcher. Acosta has the livelier fastball and is more of a strikeout guy, maybe a little more command, but occasionally gives up a three-run homer as he did yesterday." Meanwhile, Jason Isringhausen has been asked to remain in Port St. Lucie for extended spring training while the Mets figure out what to do with him. There's some concern about his elbow as well as his age, and while a couple extra weeks in PSL isn't as bad as riding the bus in the minors, it's not what Izzy was hoping for.
  13. Man that's just great , never dawned on me to think who might be the first.
  14. in the other thread people are saying this team has a great offense , Ceetar says the best in the NL......I have thought a lot of things about this team but that has never entered my mind. Worried about the O
  15. Worried here that Bay will start in a similar vein to last season and just be done with , worried about Santana coming back too soon, or being pushed to come back too soon. Worried about the manager, worried that we are depending on a lot of dodgy arms in the pitching department.
  16. How did you feel about the broader story of Israelis and Palestinians working together instead of the usual nonsense. Sandler might be way ahead of his time on this cock jokes aside.
  17. Thinking about it and I think one reason I enjoyed it somewhat is that Sandler wasn't talking in his own annoying voice and instead had what I assume was an Israeli accent (yeah right). It's always been that voice of his that annoyed as much as anything....Mike Myers has the same effect on me...Sandler makes rubbish but it's not Mike Myers rubbish...can't stand him.
  18. It's a good thought , although I am thinking that Ike out there could be scary?
  19. Why the fuck did I enjoy this movie even in the slightest? Sandler plays an Israeli Special Forces Soldier that fakes his own death to get away form the misery of life in Israel fighting Palestinian baddies and escaped to NY to pursue his dream of being a hairstylist. What could possibly go wrong? Hijinks aplenty.... John Turturro just made me laugh and despite myself Sandler did too..... This is a movie that I have avoided at all costs but then found myself enjoying it which puzzled me...damn you Sandler
  20. That was great , pissed and rightly so. Silva by all accounts has been a complete dick.
  21. Disturbing images out of PSL show Blaine Boyer noted hunting enthusiast setting up "his spot" outside the Mets complex.......apparently he's scoping out the managers office
  22. Not sure if this tweet from Rubin 2 hours ago sheds any light on what's going on or adds confusion " Blaine Boyer met in Terry Collins' office with the manager and remains unclear his status. He has a Thursday out"
  23. Beltran will play tomorrow and break camp with team says Collins via Rubin.
  24. Murphy as a right fielder really?
