  1. Dumb as shit but apparently Kernan takes this seriously, he actually wrote this In his song and video No Hay Amigo that was released in July, Reyes sings the following powerful words: There are no friends. A friend is a dollar in my pocket. As soon as you turn your back your friends want to stab you in the back. A real friend is a glass full of water in the desert to quench your thirst. ... Where were you when I used to practice without any food to eat or when I used to spend a week with the same T-shirt? There are no friends. My friends are my mother and my father, the ones who struggled with me to make me who I am. The Mets are no longer Reyes friends. The Mets are financially strapped and seemed to have taken the following approach when it comes to their game plan for getting back into the thick of the NL East race some day: Lets wait until the Phillies get old. Read more: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/mets/that_rap_hiLkoTNe7WQBo73416Y02L#ixzz1dEVIJYbf
  2. Kevin Kernan in the Post has this song from Reyes as a sign of Jose's true feelings [youtube:222f1txe]VorzKV5g498[/youtube:222f1txe] "No Hay Amigo" - means there are no friends http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/mets/that_rap_hiLkoTNe7WQBo73416Y02L

Wouldn't they have reached an agreement if they were desperate? after all, it wasn't Einhorn (supposedly) that caused it to fail. And the Mets didn't then turn to a second bidder, but choice an alternative solution. No one thought they would ever find a minority investor, really? My memory is they had several to choose from. I think the sooner the Mets go Chapter 11 the better, but I'm afraid it could be a long, slow spiral. this is the fear alright , they will do anything to keep the team.
  4. A friend from home climbed Kilimanjaro recently with her 11 year old daughter, an epic journey .It took months and months of preparation, like climbing the highest peaks and mountains in Ireland, then a six day climb, obviously Dickey isn't just going to roll up there and expect to climb the damn thing is he? http://www.facebook.com/sineadandsarah
  5. That made for grim reading , do the Mets pay into pension funds for former players or only for employees like Pete Flynn?
  6. Ceetar wrote: Apparently the Phillies kept Madsen to the tune of 4/44 with a 5th year option. Sounds just like the type of bad investment Bono would make.

  8. Thanks, I'll check it out. Looking forward to some revisionist history from McNamara too.He was vilified up in Boston for some of his decisions?
  9. I keep opening this thread hoping that the latest poster is about to tell us that Jose has signed with the Mets.
  10. A guy with some real Met connections is needed, Mike Glavine surely isn't busy.
  11. TransMonk wrote: I've never understood having 2 PBP guys alternate innings if one of them isn't doing TV. Let Howie do all the PBP and bring in some ex-jock to do a little bit of color here and there. I like this idea.
  12. I remember liking the Texas guy when I tuned in during the playoffs. He has a contract for life with Texas http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eric_Nadel n May 2006 Nadel announced that he has signed a "lifetime contract" with the Rangers, allowing him to continue on their broadcast team until he chooses to retire. At the conclusion of the 2008 season, Nadel joined a handful of broadcasters to call Major League Baseball games for 30 years, with the added distinction of calling all of them for one franchise

  17. Who are the well fed white guys in the navy tops?, hopefully not the strength and fitness staff.
  18. Got excited when I saw this was on cable the other night, I remember watching this on video with a bunch of friends back in Ireland and enjoying it very much. A buddy movie, a cops and robbers caper with great chemistry between Richard Dreyfuss and Emilio Estevez. I always liked Dreyfuss and thought he was great in roles like this. The plot is simple enough , cops on a night stakeout of an escaped convicts woman and predictably Dreyfuss falls for her. It's predictable but some good acting ,laughs and chemistry keep it together.
  19. This place hasn't been the same since "full access".
  20. Dan Duquette is an interesting hire right?, I guess these guys are never really gone from the game.
  21. seawolf17 wrote: "We don't have many fans left," the official added. "We're hoping that this, in combination with $29.99 BOURJOS 25 t-shirts prominently featured in the team store, might finally push away the last of them." a good laugh to start the week.
  22. Mets willing to trade Wright: source . We know we are not going to win it all in 2012. * Read more: http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/mets/source_mets_open_to_wright_deal_UJ6FhfhAW6PtCnXHrS3CXJ#ixzz1cwFbcozJ
  23. My job is making big talk about huge layoffs unless we the workers give huge givebacks , in health, pensions and so forth, meanwhile the CEO pulls down $1.5 million. Both Unions at the hospital have contracts that run through December 31st ,2012, so yeah they are asking us to open our contracts, not going to happen.
  24. From said article I still suspect Reyes will get six years in the $114 million range, but to get there he will have to patiently let negotiations for Prince Fielder and Albert Pujols play out and/or let the other NL East teams fret about what happens if a switch-hitting, multi-talented, 28-year-old shortstop ends up with a competitor.
