Edgy DC wrote: Dave Eiland washes ashore with the Royals. nice welcome here Duty compels me to point out that CC Sabathia's best season as a Yankee came after Eiland left, and that Ivn Nova, Freddy Garca, and Bartolo Coln -- the surprising keys to the Yankees' great season -- all arrived after Eiland left. Which young pitchers did Eiland assist in their (successful) transitions to the majors? Phil Hughes, until his arm went dead. David Robertson, though he didn't become a star until after Eiland left. Meanwhile, Eiland was the presiding authority during the declines/collapses of Joba Chamberlain, A.J. Burnett, and Javier Vazquez.
  2. I guess he better win because if not he better get out of town,if he wins everyone there will feel better,if not they will feel bitter
  3. I think we need Tom Brokaw to tell us how it is.

Oh, it's the bullshit generational/Ted Williams thing again.....yawn I suppose my point is this, people dont finish well today and they rarely finish with honor. Assuming a certain age, our parents or grandparents knew how to finish. They finished careers, raising children, fighting a war, and everything in between. Today, we dont finish school, careers, marriages, projects or much of anything else. And when we do, many times we dont do it with honor. please
  5. Haven't really watched much of this, maybe a few innings.
  6. That comment still intrigues me. What did he mean by that? Probably wasn't listening to Dan?, I was one of those that thought this guy was going to be a star, had electric stuff and then it all went pear shaped.

Benny was still here, Timo played himself out of a starting role and Darryl Hamilton, Mark Johnson, Alex Escobar and Joe McEwing were among those who got their reps. How did we lose at all I wonder now while we were sporting such fine men in the outfield?

  9. I was confused , I saw Valentin and thought John Valentin was on the Mets in 2006?.....but it's Jose.
  10. 2001 , awful , no surprise , Payton, Shinjo and? Cedano?
  11. Why would they want a retired politician type, not being a smart asre here but it's baseball not the middle east.
  12. Joe Torre will assume the position won't he?, white lifer inside guy and friend of Bud, likely well thought of among the owners. Will do what he's told to do.
  13. It all comes back to Edgy, he coined a post 9/11 term.
  14. That sucks nice card
  15. I often wonder what happens to guys like him, would he have a pension, did he make any money?
  16. I really feel I should be like -10 or something.
  17. See what I did there Edgy?, I inspired a choice from Bucket.

  23. Edgy DC wrote: I agree on the Rocketdude. I'm not sure it's a shame that it didn't sprout sequels however. They likely would've diappointed. did I miss the point of the thread or what man?
  24. Monsters, Inc. For the life of me I can't fathom why there has been no sequel, and we watched again the other night....my son often calls me "Sully" in that Mike Wazowski voice.....
