I'm happy with what I said back then metirish Jan 16 2009 02:36 PM I could root for the Dodgers but really with the games on so late it would be hard , Having said that though there is no way I could be as passionate about another as I am about the Mets. although the Dodgers were a different animal back then.

Fuck them. Fuck baseball altogether until NY is awarded another NL Franchise I voted that....

Surely Bobby gets at least some credit for the great purge of asshole players the Sox got rid of?

Yeah, it should be noted that Seaver didn't miss a season in that span due to injury. Still shocking to me that Santana only had three full seasons and a bit as a Met.

    717 innings , he was age 29 through 33....for comparisons because I thought 717 was low.......Seaver age 29 through 33 pitched ????? Guess

The whole 1918 angle got annoying , as noted by Wolf on FB...... Here is the old guy that FOX were interviewing as if he were a random old guy.....maybe they thought he was http://www.bostonglobe.com/business/2013/10/29/memories-red-sox-sports-memorabilia-merchandiser/ULDWbAIy6GNQ1Fx4NSd8vK/story.html

Congrats , certainly worthy champions , Cherington had some big boots to fill and has done an amazing job. Seriously I look at that roster and go wow, they won the World Series. Players I knew nothing about before the Playoffs but now like a lot....Uehara and Xander Bogaerts.

Elsbury gets caught in a run down.......but runs, and runs and gets back to 1st.....terrible from St. Louis.
  13. metirish
St. Louis needed to get some runs on the board right there....

Out of the four major sports I would think the NFL commissioner is worried about it's future, what with the brain injuries and violence .....

That was very cool for Farrell to acknowledge McCarver during the in-game interview.

Follow a local minor league team and you get into just as much. If they don't allow things to de-spiral to a certain extent, baseball could die at the ML level. But baseball? Never. I read that Zvon in a James Earl Jones voice.

Good stuff Olbermann cited an Orioles-Pirates series from the 70s. Sports Media Watch couched otherwise strong numbers for Game 2 on Saturday night as baseballs fifth-lowest-rated World Series game of all time. No one talks about NCIS like that. But what if they did? NCIS was the highest-rated entertainment show in the fall of 2012. It got a 9.8 rating. In 1998, the highest rated primetime show was E.R. It got an 18.8. Thats 48% higher. Indeed, if NCIS were on in 1998 and got the same ratings, it wouldnt have cracked the top ten. I never looked at it like that.....interesting
