  2. Per Metsblog: Second baseman Dilson Herrera has been called up from Triple-A Las Vegas, the Mets announced. According to the team, a corresponding roster move will be made on Friday.
  3. Disappointing in so many ways.
  4. I'd be OK with a split, but hope for at least 3 of 4. Losing the series would be deflating for sure.
  5. Yes, I was very surprised to wake up to the Mets still owning a 4.5 game lead this morning. I didn't see the Braves final last night and figured they would go on to win with the lead they had. I'm hoping this doesn't turn out to be a springboard for the Nats. That team has too much talent to stay down for too long, but I was hoping they would continue to struggle through this weekend.
  6. Yeah, the Mets didn't deserve to win this one. Too much bad strategy and poor execution. From what I've read this morning, it sounds like Terry gave Tejada the choice of bunting or trying to advance the runner with an opposite-field swing. That seems to me an even worse decision than just telling Rubin to bunt outright. Why would you leave such a big decision in a tight game up to your light-hitting back-up shortstop? FWIW, I would have walked Stanton, but I understand why they chose not to.
  7. Blue Jays place Jose Reyes on DL with cracked rib
  8. Early Bday present for me came in the mail today. A road gray #4 (my name on the back).
  9. Yeah, they should have jettisoned them when the Minaya/Randolph management took over. They did wear out their welcome.
  10. I like Gee...he can get shelled occasionally, but more often than not, he'll keep the team in the game. What more can you ask from the bottom of your rotation? I didn't think Murph's HR was gone off the bat, but like FK knew that it tied the game. I love the fact that the Mets are 10 games over and he is just now starting to show life. Big, big win...for many reasons.

  12. We're all over the map on our opinions of the different unis lately. I'll tell you one thing: as long as they're winning, what they are wearing matters very little to me (except for the camo...ugh!).
  13. Yeah, they're gross. It seems like the Mets marketing department needs to introduce some sort of alternate uni change every year to keep having new things to sell. I'm not a huge fan of the road blue unis either. The numbers on the back look like duct tape.
  14. 0 walks by Mets pitchers last night too. What a great game! One to remember, especially if the team continues to be successful this season. Did anyone else see Figgy imply a loss during the post-game teaser before the ninth inning? Something like, "Dillon Gee threw 70 pitches. I'll show you why the last 4 cost him the game." It's not over 'til it's over, Nelson.
  15. Max Scherzer is a baby. Be a BASEBALL player, man! Do you not get paid enough to hit?
  16. Ceetar wrote: If Mets were sloppy last night, how will they look in a night game after a late night game in another city? Sounds like a good test to show if they are the real deal or just had a wonderful couple of weeks. Great teams fight through this kind of stuff. I'm hoping they come back and destroy the fish tonight.

It's a nationally televised game, and it'd be nice to come out of it with the whole nation murmuring, "Hey, those Mets are pretty good this year" around the water cooler tomorrow morning. The Braves and Nats both lost today, too. This is a great chance to extend those leads even more.
  18. Edgy MD wrote: Curious why they wouldn't start him at segundo and let Murph concentrate on hittin'. My thoughts exactly.
  19. Bobby Parnell shut down with forearm soreness Oh, Bobby.
  20. I seem to remember Alexa doing some "Free Shirt Friday" promo commercials and some-such last season, but nothing more. Gelbs was Kevin's backup last year, right? If so, it's only right that he got the job with Kevin's departure. Maybe Alexa is Gelbs' backup now.
  21. Ceetar wrote: They let Alexa do some interviews in Spring Training. Can we call her up or is there super-two considerations? I don't really care about Alexa (I think the sideline reporter is mostly unnecessary), but it does seem as if a lot of the Fox-y networks are moving to Erin Andrews-esque eye candy to deliver the fluff in baseball and all sports. Ms. Andrews even bumped out Pam Oliver a couple of years ago as the #1 sideline reporter on FOX NFL. If one Googles "sideline reporter", the words "hottest", "beautiful" or "sexy" appears in the majority of the top results. If it gets more folks watching (for whatever reason), it's hard to see SNY not eventually following suit with a young blonde. Oh, and I'm not a fan of Gelbs.
  22. Rolling Stone should stick to covering shitty music.
  23. What a great home stand...it's been so long since I've enjoyed watching this team this much!
