  1. Awesome!!! Can you imagine if this guy was healthy all year?
  2. Sweet baby Jesus, Alou did it. And extends the streak.
  3. Moises with a chance to tie with a hit.
  4. Make it 3...Mets score another.
  5. Miscue two plates a run.
  6. Looks like rain's on the way...best to score some runs early just in case this is a short one.
  7. Delcos says Wags will be a game time decision, which is better than a ninth inning decision. http://mets.lohudblogs.com/
  8. Yancy Street Gang wrote: What would really make sense, though, is if the bottom of the ninth has righties coming up, Heilman, and if lefties, Feliciano. Do the old Orosco/McDowell (or McGraw/Frisella) thing. I'm with YSG here.
  9. If Castillo can play, Castillo. He knows better than I do, otherwise it's the Goat. I tell Pedro I need at least 6 from him tonight. Sosa gets the night off. I'd tell Muniz he better be ready to play and to play hard. Milledge in RF. I remind Wright and Reyes that they are champions, and then I show them this picture and ask them how bad they want it: Delgado should be ready. Green has the night off and won't be available due to the holiday. It's a lefty starter for the fish anyways, Conine would have to go in Delgado's stead.
  10. Just remember, the sweet is never as sweet without the sour, and we all know the sour. As an aside, I was walking up the stairs this morning with my boss. I stumbled a bit just as we reached the landing. My boss said, "You look like your Mets." Grrr.
  11. So long, Cincy.
  12. For Pete's sake, the Kenny Loggins worked for Wednesday's game...I'll try anything. There's a river in Evening ember glow And you're wishing you could see How far it flows Rolling on to an endless sea You'd be well on your way If you could only set sail. But dreams can drift away And sails can fill with doubt Where's your vision If the embers flicker out? Don't let it slip from view The horizons are waiting Your river is fading So keep the fire burning tonight See just what comes into sight Don't take forever Take it through the night And believe the sun Will rise with the dawn That's all you need to go on But for tonight Just keep the fire burning bright I will never need to ask "What have I done?" Comes a moment when it's clear There's only one. Oh, whatever you need of me I've made up my mind I'll give you more than you've asked for And there are those who can foresee Where we will go All the future... I don't really want to know Only that you'll be here with me. While the embers still glow We'll be safe till tomorrow.
  13. I found out tonight that I get tickets to a Brewers/Mets playoff game in Milwaukee during the first round if the matchup is right. Doubtful that the matchup will happen, but I'm hoping some way somehow.
  14. Willets Point wrote: It gives one confidence that a team that sucks in September can still have an excellent October (well, if you overlook the World Series part). See: Chicago White Sox 2005 - Had a 9.5 game lead on 9/7, let it slip to 1.5 on 9/24. Won division by 6 games and steamrolled through the playoffs to a championship. St. Louis Cardinals 2006 - Had 7 game lead on 9/20, let it slip to .5 on 9/28. Won division by 1.5 games and somehow beat everyone on their way to a championship. It's the new trend in champions.
  15. Since his sit down with Willie on August 15th where Green was told he would get reduced playing time, Green has responded by hitting .353 in 68 ABs with an OPS of .959. Since Delgado went on the DL and Green got some of his regular playing time back at 1B, he is batting .407 with 2 HR and an OPS of 1.219 in 33 plate appearances with only 2 Ks and 1 GDP. Now that Delgado is going to be ready to return to the lineup this weekend, does Green go back to platooning in RF with Milledge, or will he steal some starts at 1B down the stretch? Obviously, the outcome rests on whether Delgado is truly 100%...but Green is smoking hot right now, and I can hardly expect this kind of production from Delgado given his season up to the point that he got hurt.
  16. Sorry, shapie. The Phils are off Monday...so only the first scenario will allow them to clinch that day.
  17. The Blue Jays have flown south for the winter. Only 6 teams still alive in the AL...and it's only a matter of time for Seattle and Detroit.
  18. Sosa 3 Pelfrey 2 Wright 2 Reyes 1 Alou 1 Lo Duca 1
  19. It was Molina's bobblehead night, too.
  20. Great job by Sosa!
  21. God, I hate Don Sutton. I say this every time we go to Washington. But it's so true.
  22. Weirdest double of the year for Reyes.
  23. There was no way he would have thrown the runner out...he had to range pretty far to get the ball. He airmailed it into the camera-well past 1st.
  24. The Mets are shaking things up. In the first inning they go 1-2-3. MASN showed a graphic that stated the 21 runs that the Nationals have scored the past 2 games are the most runs in consecutive games that the team has scored since they moved back to DC. Ouch.
