  1. Smoltz done after 5 as Gotay fans pinch hitting for him. I like our chances of scoring 2 against the Bravo bullpen.
  2. Now we're giving up outs on defense. I don't think we ate our Cheerios this morning. Wake up, people.
  3. Mets not playing good fundies today as Delgado gets doubled up on a fly ball. Can't be giving up outs against Smoltz.
  4. David comes up empty with 2 out and RISP...again.

I found it telling that in the Braves 2nd game od the season vs. Pittsburgh, their bullpen wasn't able to find the strikezone...and their fans, rather than booing the relief pitcher for not throwing strikes(as NY fans would), they were booing the umps for not calling pitches out of the strikezone strikes.

  7. Well, we had sole possession of first place for a couple hours today. What a queer game. The Mets had many opportunities to change the complexion of this game...maybe not win, but be closer than they were. I'm not going to dwell on this loss for too long, but this type of play better not become a habit. Back at 'em tomorrow.

  9. Well, that sucks.
  10. 1 for 9 with RISP today. Wright comes up with nothing on his second chance to potentially tie the game.
  11. Triple Dee wrote: Lefty specialist extraordinaire Scott Schoeneweis gives up a run. Really, it was Smith's run. And Show gets Chipper to pop-up.
  12. Well, that wacky inning makes it a game again. Time for the bullpen to shine.
  13. Overturned...good for blue. We still potentially lose a run that would have scored.
  14. Biggest blown call I've ever seen.
  15. The rain and Maine ruining my weekend thus far. The Mets O needs to chip away at Hudson to get to that bullpen.

  17. I like him a lot more calling random football games than the Phucking Phillies.
  18. I'll take the 2 Milwaukees.
  19. I doubt the Nats will streak forever, but I'm more than happy to root for them if their streaking while playing the Braves and Phils.

  21. Schaefer's gonna be a bitch tonight.
  22. He's still loved by Milwaukee fans...although they are ironically starting a new love affair with Mota.
  23. SteveJRogers wrote: Glavine's influence on the young hurlers, a full year of Teixiera, probably some of the trend is based on a feeling Mets and Phillies will kill each other for the division, leaving the "experience" in Atlanta to rise to the top. Atlanta has young hurlers? The only way they could get older is if they brought back Maddux. It seems to me they have as many questions about the age and health of their rotation as we do...if not more. Their bullpen doesn't frighten me and they don't have a closer. I have to think a full year of Teixiera is nearly used up when he compensates for Andruw's lost power and Renteria's lost average. Escobar looks like he could be really good, but I don't think they can rely on him just yet. Can McCann return to his 2006 form? Can Chipper stay healthy? Kelly Johnson and Mark Kotsay?!? This is bullshit. ESPN can kiss my ass. Prove it to me, Bravos! And on edit: Their defense sucks, too. Glavine will not get win # 304 as the Braves piss away another lead. Tied at 4 in the 7th.
  24. Glavine looks like Glavine. 5 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 3 K. Maybe it's my bias, but all of a sudden it looks like he's getting that corner again that he (we) always bitched that he never got in New York. I have a feeling the Braves' less than stellar defense up the middle is going to expose Glavine a little more than he's used to. They don't look very impressive to me. Why are the Braves the designer pick to win it all this year? They look like the same team they were last year, only their defense is worse. Where did they improve?
