  10. I've got the Reds broadcast feed...and I don't hate 'em. Jeff Brantley (who I disliked when he was at ESPN) and some other guy do a pretty good job for an FSN crew.

Y'know, the kind where he allows them to score immediately after being given a lead**. It sure seems that way with Johan , it's like I was not surprised to see him cough it back up. By my math, and this is just me pulling numbers while watching the game - so unofficial, Johan has gone to the mound in 31 innings where the Mets have scored runs in the previous half inning. He has allowed runs in 13 of those 31 innings: March 31st vs. Marlins - Mets score 6 in the top of the 4th, Santana gives up 2 in the bottom of the 4th April 12th vs. Brewers - Mets score 2 in the bottom of the 1st, Santana gives up 1 in the top of the 2nd April 18th vs. Philly - Mets score 3 in the top of the 8th, Santana gives up 3 in the bottom of the 8th May 4th vs. Arizona - Mets score 1 in the top of the 4th, Santana gives up 1 in the bottom of the 4th May 10th vs. Reds = Mets score 3 in the bottom of the 3rd, Santana gives up 1 in the top of the 4th & Mets score 2 in the bottom of the 5th, Santana gives up 2 in the top of the 6th May 17th vs. the Yankees - Mets score 2 in the top of the 7th, Santana gives up 1 in the bottom of the 7th May 22nd vs. Braves - Mets score 2 in the top of the 2nd, Santana gives up 1 in the bottom of the 2nd May 27th vs. Marlins - Mets score 3 in the bottom of the 1st, Santana gives up 1 in the top of the 2nd & Mets score 1 in the bottom of the 5th, Santana gives up 1 in the top of the 6th June 6th vs. San Diego - Mets score 1 in the top of the 6th, Santana gives up 2 in the bottom of the 6th June 17th vs. Angels - Mets score 1 in the top of the 1st, Santana gives up 3 in the bottom of the 1st July 17th vs. Reds - Mets score 2 in the top of the 4th, Santana gives up 5 in the bottom of the 4th The Mets scored 29 runs in the above instances and Johan gave 24 back the very next half inning. Run support my ass. **These were not necessarily situations where the Mets took the lead, only when they scored.
  12. Santana gives it right back-to-back.
  13. Delgado CREAMS one out of the stadium. KABOOM! 2-0 Good Guys.
  14. Reyes K Chavez K Wright K Not a great start.

NEW YORK - Would you ever think to see David Wright racing out of the same bullpen where Mariano Rivera carved a Hall of Fame career? Why not. There were already enough crazy things that happened last night at Yankee Stadium in the American League's 4-3 win in 15 innings. If losing Phillies reliever Brad Lidge had made it through that last inning, the Mets third baseman was in line to go out and pitch the next inning. "If he would have put me in, I would have gone out there," Wright said with a smirk as he dressed and prepared to leave. For the American League hitters, here's a quicky scouting report on Wright. He doesn't throw exceptionally hard (around 85, if fully warmed up), and was cramming to learn a two-seam fastball from Giants closer Brian Wilson as the game crept on into extra-innings. "I was excited for it, we were all pulling for him," Wilson said. "We were all going to get together and give him some tips." Said Wright: "I would have had a nice arsenal before I went out there." When asked to dissect his pitching career, Wright racked his brain for a second. His last outing, he believed, may have been in Little League in the Virginia Tidewater area. National League manager Clint Hurdle joked that he approached Wright with the idea, telling him that since he wanted to be on the team so badly, he needed to contribute. Wright was notably miffed when he was not included on the NL side, but was a late addition just a few days before the game. And although he would have been eager to pitch, Wright acknowledged that would have put an end to the game rather quickly. "I was just hoping to get an out so I'd have an ERA in the All-Star Game," Wright said. In addition to his budding career as a late-inning specialist, Wright was 1-for-3 with two strikeouts at the plate. He also drew a walk off Rays ace Scott Kazmir, and joked with media members that he had "scared" the one-time Mets prospect.
