    If we keep Thole up and trade Barajas, who would be the backup if/when Blanco goes on the DL?

    12 days to the deadline. I think they all have varying degrees of value, but value none-the-less. If we're going to send one down (and popular opinion suggests it should not be Thole), then might as well trade him for what we can get. Blanco and Barajas are somewhat redundant as far as I can see. I'm not opposed to moving Thole in a trade either, if the value is there.

    I've only listened to Hagin one or two times since he was hired...but the dude is a journeyman who has been in Oakland, San Fran, Colorado and St. Louis. It's no wonder that it sounds like he is rooting for the other team. All other Mets announcers have/had some direct tie to the Mets/New York. Hagin is just a gun-for-hire filling a seat.

    I really hope counting every penny is not an issue with improving the ballclub this month. A pro-rated Lilly would be only a million-ish dollars more than Myers' pro-rated salary plus buyout. Now, I'm not a millionaire, but if we can't afford the extra dough for a lefty who doesn't beat his wife, then we don't deserve to contend.

    I would say that Frenchy is more likely to start than Jose tonight. Gotta show some confidence in Niese and hope that the offense can keep up tonight. Zito has been better this year, but he is beatable.

    Tip of the cap to the 2 time defending CY Young winner. This series has potential to be a 4 game nail-biter.
