  2. IMO, Franco and Hathaway were making jokes between themselves. The overall writing was stiff. Hathaway flubbed several lines and ad-libbed her goofs. Franco seemed like he really didn't care if he was there or not. The exchanges between Timberlake and Kunis made several references to one of the documentary nominees that no one got. Kirk Douglas went on WAY to long. Hathaway gushed over to many of the presenters and blew too many kisses. The whole production seemed unprofessional.
  3. Not for nothing, but I'll be a lot happier about our outfield situation when the words "Beltran" and "hobbled" stop appearing in articles together.
  4. Vic Sage wrote: It was just about the worst Oscar show ever. Yup. I'm always amazed that it takes 3+ hours to do what could easily be done in one. Hathaway + Franco = horrible. It was a night of hosts and presenters constantly upstaging one another.
  5. Interesting, fo' sho'.
  6. Captured "grunge". I liked it when I was 19. It's horribly dated now.
  7. Sat through this on Sunday, just hours before it won all of those technical Oscars. I agree with most of what sharpie said above. Decent flick, not my cup o' tea.
  8. I thought the production was groundbreaking at the time. Like many tech-based movies, it really doesn't hold up almost 20 years later...though the CGI still looks better than some blockbusters released just last year. The acting is hokey and the "message" is ham-fisted at best. It spawned two unnecessary and shitty sequels. Jeff Goldblum is pretty awesome, though. And it is a fairly typical Spielberg action flick, which are usually better than the Cameron, Bay, Bruckheimer pieces of poo.
  9. I thought it was pretty cool. Rockwell does indeed rock well.
  10. Whenever I see an Allstate ad, I think, "Fuck you, Jobu. I do it myself."
  11. Over on Mets, Nats and Bucs Under on the Phils, Rox and Twins
  12. I think Hu makes him redundant. Unless Murphy is awful both defensively and offensively, I see Turner in Buffalo until September.
  13. I expect him to hit like a league-average catcher. Which is OK because he is a catcher. I'd like to see him mature defensively and as a game caller...but as a hitter, it is what it is.
  14. Hard to believe this movie is almost 20 years old. I liked it when it came out. I haven't seen it in years. Completely unbelievable...but still a fun concept. Kevin Kline does a nice job.
  15. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYN/NYN200709290.shtml A greatly pitched game when we needed it most. Gave us all hope...until Glavine devastated us.
  16. The Second Spitter wrote: Anybody remember what number Octavio wore? There's a website that will tell you. I remember Duckie wearing 29.
  17. I expect we have seen the last of a sub-3-ERA Johan.
  18. 10 starts, 4-2, 3.78 ERA, 67 K, 29 BB
  19. Welcome to Generation AARP, Jason. Good luck.
  20. Thought it was pretty good. One of Michael Cera's best post-Suberbad movies. I enjoyed that Roxy Richter was played by Mae Whitman who portrayed George Michael's girlfriend Ann on Arrested Development.
  21. I expect about the same output as last season...and that he will be traded.
  22. Benjamin Grimm wrote: Released during the final week of spring training. Will sign a minor league deal elsewhere and will briefly resurface in the majors in August.This.
  23. Either way, I'm finally glad the Wilpons admitted there was a problem.
  24. I think the idea is that the Wilpons are going to be financially down for several years and need some new money infused to keep the Mets competitive. They have been denying (lying about) this for some time, but IMO, this confirms that the Madoff thingy was bad news for Fred and Sterling...more than they were letting on about. In the long run, this will be good for the Mets.
