  1. Since starting 5-13, the Mets have gone 35-26 which gives them the 7th best record in baseball and the 4th best in the NL over that span. Best NL Records since 04/20/11: Philly 39-24, 0 GB Atlanta 38-24, .5 GB San Fran 36-26, 2.5 GB NY Mets 35-26, 3 GB CBS Sports lists the Mets as the 21st best team in their most recent Power Rankings (idiots), but they also say (with which I don't disagree): "...there's a lot to like about this team, starting with the fact that they show up every night. They lose because they're untalented and undermanned, not because they're outwitted or out-effort-ed. Nobody likes a losing team, but this year's model is far easier to get behind than what the Mets trotted out during the last few seasons." I think some of this has to reflect well on Terry.

  5. What a bunch of fucking winners.
  6. Daniel Schlereth: Stinkier than his dad.
  7. I guess I missed some good shit. This team is starting to surprise me semi-weekly with these funky lineups.
  8. I will be making my annual Michigan trip this weekend spending time in Douglas and Warren Dunes State Park. But that will be on the opposite side of the state and after the Mets are already back in NYC.
  9. I'll go with the 6-7 crowd too, though I'll hope for better. I predict we'll be 5-5 in our next 10 before losing the series to the Gints before the break.
  10. I may say Ceets is a dreamer, but he's not the only one... I'm still paying attention. I didn't think this team would be within sniffing distance of .500 at the halfway point, but here they are, sniffing away. OE: corrected the Lennon parody that I butchered.

  15. Frankie said...relax. He's open to discussing the waiver of the option if the trading team is open to discussing a contract extention.
  16. It is my opinion that the 2011 team is not a playoff contender and that there is nothing that Sandy can do that will save us money AND push us over the edge this season. I would rather see him improve the club for the next several years than take any sort of risk on this year's team at the expense of the future.
  17. I'd rather be better in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 than risk any of those seasons and come up short in 2011. Eggs in baskets got us into this payroll mess.

  19. No Buck/McCarver this week? Those fucking' slackers.
  20. I walk around thinking Pelfrey is an adjustment or two away from domination. I've been thinking this for 4 years now. What's the definition of insanity? He's pitched well at times, but I just can't expect dominance from him anymore and his price tag is not in line with rebuilding for the stats he is most likely to give us going forward. Maybe a change of scenery turns him into a top of the line starter, but I think we've seen what he's got to give. OE: Ceetar disagrees with me (or maybe I disagree with him)...and honestly, I'm not trying to turn this into a Pelfrey sucks thread. I just see it as an opportunity to cut salary without giving up too much on the stat line.
  21. Ceetar wrote: doubt Pelfrey gets traded. I think pitching of his talent is in demand. And the Mets need more pitching, not less. They'll end up spending at least what they got for him, in either prospects or money, trying to replace him. What if we get a league minimum back-end starter (with a few years left before free agency) back in a deal for Rodriguez or Beltran? Statistically speaking, Pelfrey is the worst horse in our stable right now. I think he's shown exactly what he will continue to be: a guy who is going to win about 12 games with an ERA between 4.00 and 4.50. $4M-$5M is a lot to pay a guy that puts up those type of numbers. Pelfrey is a nice guy who has stayed healthy...but he is what he is at this point.
  22. Nice work, Edgy. I miss Endy.
  23. I'd put money on Pelfrey as well.
