  1. Got it. I'm reading through on all the stuff on Fangraphs and it sounds fun. The last time I played fantasy baseball was 1991. I was the youngest owner in a keeper league that held a live auction. Back then I would wait for the Sporting News to come out on the weekend that listed all of the stats for all of the teams and then I would look all of my players up and keep their stats by hand each week. The commissioner would release standings every month printed by a service on a dot-matrix printer. I haven't played since the advent of internet stat compiling. I'm looking forward to it, but am admittedly a bit rusty on the process. I'll brush up and be ready to go on Thursday.
  2. Is this NL only or both leagues?
  3. I'm in. Miracle Monks
  4. What the heck, I'll give it a go. Worst that can happen is that I come in last, right? I'll get myself registered over the weekend.
  5. I think Ceetar's .260 BA and .350 OBP look good. I don't think get up to a .350 SLG, though. And I'll put him at under 10 SB. I think his performance will vary depending on where he ends up in the lineup and how comfortable he is there as well as how long his offensive leash is near the top of the order.
  6. For the most part...virtually, anyways.
  7. If I was the Tigers GM, I wouldn't have...at least not for the same length and dollar amount.
  8. Pujols and Fielder. Maybe not now, but 3-5 years from now for sure. Way play a bad first base if you don't have to?
  9. I'll take the under.

Until the Nats actually put a winner out on the field, I'm doubting their ability to do so. The Braves are always a threat to re-load I suppose...but the way things change in a 3-4 year span makes it tough to say that it will be tougher for the Mets to get to the top of the NL East rather than any other division. If the Mets right the ship and can start putting young quality on the field in a winning fashion, then it really shouldn't matter.
  11. I'm going with 2015. I really like the young arms in the minors and think that we'll have enough payroll freed up by 2014 to buy some FA offense to go with anyone we have left on the roster. I also think that although it won't be directly his fault, Terry and the other coaches won't survive 2013 and what could be 3 consecutive losing seasons under his management. 2014 will show flashes of things to come under a new skipper and with the young starters coming of age and some offense additions via FA. 2015 will be the time to shine. Of course, I'm not ruling out anything in the next couple of years, and I'll still hope for the best. But in looking at what we've got, and what we could have in the near future, 2015 looks about right to me. Also, I don't agree with Law's assessment that the "toughness" of the NL East is going to effect the timeline.
  12. Gee's pithcing looked good in the one frame I saw while home for lunch (bot 3, granted it was against 8-9-1 in the order). I still think his chin looks like something someone pulled out of a YMCA shower drain. I'm hoping it doesn't travel north.
  13. I think he'll be on the big club for the majority of the season, but that Thole will get a large majority of the starts. 52 G, .210/.257/.282/.539, 2 HR, 15 RBI

  15. I'm predicting something close to his 2009 stats: 25 starts, 166.2 IP, 13-9, 3.13 ERA, 146 K, 46 BB
  16. Hey, bro!

  19. I think JCL's most recent prediction for Rauch looks about right.
  20. I hat this thread. I hat this thread. I hat this thread.
  21. Very cool.
  22. Get mad, Mike. Get mad!
  23. Yeah, I kind of wish Francisco wore #49...and was a fraction as good as Benitez.
