  1. 6Ks thru 3 for Santana. But 67 pitches. Let score some runs!
  2. Yeah, WTF. It's not like his spring was horrible. He hit that walk-off against the Yanks just a week ago.
  3. That's two days in a row that the Mets have opened up the game with a runner on second and no outs, but have failed to score. I do not have a bigger baseball pet peeve.
  4. Lotsa pitches in that first inning, but no runs across.
  5. The X-rays showed a fracture. I think they are taking a wait-and-see approach for the DL. They can always back-date it. I'm really hoping it is only a few days.
  6. Mets Willets Point wrote: Since I watch games on MLB TV, I don't see any of these commercials. I have to admit that some of these summaries have me curious. I've got the free Extra Innings preview this week, so after Sunday, I'll be switching to MLB.TV, too. SNY only has about 25 different ads they show during the games, so they become rote after awhile. I just got DIRECTV back last week after moving into a new place, and boy did I miss it. I won't get SNY on the TV during games this season, but I get the pre and post game shows. And I still get the SNY broadcast for the games via MLB.TV. I can't say I'll miss their in-game commercials.
  7. Does Mr. Met really have feelings that can be hurt by mentioning his physical characteristics?
  8. Bright side: still in 1st place and on pace to win 130 games. Shady side: our depth and defense are wafer thin.
  9. I've decided I'm skipping lunch. LGM!
  10. A comeback at age 29? Verdouchey on Wright Verdouchey wrote: At the age of 29, and as he is left out of the industry trend of teams locking up franchise players, New York Mets third baseman David Wright has begun already a third act to his career. It is the comeback phase. After a career-worst season in 2011, when it appeared that a canyon of a ballpark was extracting the greatness from his career, Wright went back to his roots...
  11. I tend to side with WP. While the Marlins' response is certainly hypocritical to a degree, it was most likely necessary from a PR standpoint. I find the whole thing funny in a "thank God this is not the Mets" type of way. Overall, their managerial hire blew up in their face. Ozzie is a loudmouth who will generate headlines as much with his mouth as with his managing. The Marlins prolly didn't think his antics would hit so close to home like this quote has, so now they have to play the corporate censor and discipline their bad boy. It's a sticky situation and I'm sure this is the last thing they wanted as an organization trying out a new image/style with the idea of attracting more local fans. I'm loving every minute of it. Couldn't have happened to a better team at a better time.
  12. For nerds like me...Dickey will be on NPR's Fresh Air today to talk about his book. http://www.npr.org/programs/fresh-air/
  13. Yeah, Ronnie got pretty worked up. Last night was a pretty great game on many different levels.
  14. Breaking news via CNN.com: Miami Marlins have suspended manager Ozzie Guillen for five games, effective immediately, team announces.
  15. Yeah, but he's got 2 more hits than Ike right now, as meek as they may be. My expectations for Bay are nil, which is why he can't disappoint me. If Kirk takes his spot once Torres comes back, so be it. Ike still needs to get right. But Ruben and Josh have been most impressive in this small sample size. If nothing else, I'm not sure Torres will be given the leadoff spot back once he returns.
  16. Ronnie was doing it all night - calling things right before they happened. It led to an awkward exchange where Keith couldn't think of a symonym for Gary's description of "prescient", prompting Gary to offer up "clairvoyant" and "seer".
  17. Very much yes. I love what Ruben has done at the top of the order and I'm really impressed with Thole's at-bats and what looks to be improved defense. It's only been four games, but I like what I've seen from almost the whole team. Ike needs to get right, but I think he will.

  20. That was a pretty great game. I like what I've seen from this team so far.
  21. After 3 games, I would get behind a "Sign Wright NOW!!!" thread. I know it's early, but even his outs have looked MVP-ish. On the other side, the Braves are a mess. I thought going in that they, not the Mets, were the worst team in the division. They didn't to anything over the weekend to change my mind. I agree that Gonzalez could very well have the hottest seat early this year.
