  1. Does this mean the coaching staff may have doubts about Hefner's ability to start against big leaguers? Batista is a known (all too well) quantity.
  2. I guess I was including the NFL and American Idol in Fox's failures. While we're on the subject, though, can't we just have A GAME of the week and not a blackout of every afternoon game on Saturdays all summer long? But, that's not necessarily FOX's fault...like Joe Buck's smugness is.
  3. FOX has ruined far more than the game of the week.
  4. Fuck no. No MLB.TV either. FOX can eat a bag of dicks.
  5. There are definitely some good things to come over the next several years.
  6. They're calling it an "avulsion". That just sounds dirty.
  7. I'm of the opinion of staying the course with whoever can contribute from Buffalo. It's too early to know anything about anything. Are we a starter away from winning this division? We have options at 2B, but can they replace Muprhy offensively? A move right now seems desperate to me and I don't think we would get value for Muffy (or anyone) at this time.
  8. Look at the points for Capatin Kirk. Way to go, rook! Great work as always, BG.
  9. Per Metsblog, Mike Pelfreys TJ surgery was successful.
  10. Who is going to lead the team in steals this season and how many will they swipe? OE: And I'm not looking at individuals and their Ks. I'm talking about Tejada striking out when the situation calls for a groundball to the right side or Thole striking out when a long fly ball will score a run. IMO, this team will finish in the top 5 of the NL in Ks.
  11. This is a team that leads the league in Ks and has little-to-no speed...and these are things that are not going to improve much as the sample size gets bigger. The offense is flawed, but they've shown their ability to get on base and win close games. Yes, they have been lucky. But so what? A 162 game baseball season eliminates most of the luck that any one team can acquire. I'm happy that they are where they are for now. This is a team that should be looking to improve game by game and not worry about regression to the mean or pythagorean winning percentages or what their record is going to be in September. Build, improve, sustain. Enjoy the ride. We're obviously not there yet.
  12. I share a birthday with Manny Acosta who turns 31 today. As a birthday present, maybe they'll give him the day off.
  13. Acosta teaches us that we shouldn't believe in him for more than one inning. Gotta come from behind again.
  14. He's making up for giving Norris three batters too many.
  15. That is pretty classic. Well said, Wally!
  16. Oh, Kirk! Wheels firmly attached.
  17. Oh, Murph! The wheels are falling off this one...
  18. We strike out A LOT. That bugs me.
  19. Buck me! Torres robbed of a triple.
  20. Yes he is. The Mets should score him some runs.
  21. They're finally thinking about changing this... http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/7874251/mlb-eyeing-end-annual-rival-series-including-mets-yankees-sources-say
  22. The lack of production due to injury in 2009 and 2010 cannot just be omitted, though. He has had multiple leg injuries and a large part of his value does come from his legs.
  23. Per Metsblog...it is Lutz.
  24. Edgy DC wrote: My thinking is that young teams get better as the season progresses... I agree with this. This team is really thin and really can't afford any more injuries anywhere.
