  1. So you still gotta call em "1, 2, and 3" or by their middle names or something, right? Wonder what it's like growing up w/ the same name as your siblings.

Yeah, but I'm not sure traditional alignment is the best play there anyway. Fangraphs sez he has gone opposite field on batted balls only 17% of his ABs this year, but has gone up the middle (31%) and pulled it to right (52%). Seems shading him up the middle was the right positioning. Wheeler jammed him inside to get him to pull, too, but he fought a wicked pitch off the hands and somehow dumped it to left. Luckiest luck, but I think Amed was in the right spot.
  3. They were shading him up the middle, but it wasn't a gross overshift IMO. And Keith would have raised a stink about it if it was. The replay is in the link below. You can see Amed's little hat in the shortstop position, shaded towards second. Home-plate view at the :30 mark. It was a perfectly placed little dumper. https://www.mlb.com/giants/news/giants-beat-mets-in-13-innings/c-291167868
  4. I think I'm pretty solidly in the #TeamJeff camp for 2019. Seems he's always been a really good hitter, rarely K's, high OBP, but now he subscribed to this new-fangled launch angle malarky and he's a legit power threat. The modified swing and increased fly ball rates does make him seem a little like Muffy Lite. Worry about catcher, all the hurt outfielders, the bullpen, SP depth, what else... But unless he all the sudden starts to look like crap for the next month plus, the Mets may have a cheap, talented solution that fell right in their lap.
  5. Wonder how much 40 runs in 2 games boosts our season numbers towards the illusion of "average"?
  6. It's BP up there. Lollipop after lollipop. I wanna hit.

  9. I clicked on the facebook link, saw all these hearts fluttering up from the comments, heard the shitty dudes announcing and clicked out. Currently listening to Faron Young on the XM classic country station. Go Mets!
  10. Another hit. Hey, do Frazier now.

  12. Meanwhile in St. Lucie, your #2 hitter David Wright is 0-2 with a walk. I think he can safely say he has no protection in the lineup because the turd batting behind him is Jay Bruce. The only bonafide stud in the lineup is #9 hitter DALE BURDICK whose 3-run homer boosted his average up to .181. Cut that biscuit, son. Also, 2-1 Big League Mets, halfway through the 2nd.
  13. Nimmo doubled to left, found the camera and clearly mouthed, "CF, I'm so very sorry I was sucking."
  14. I just wanna say I like the cut of Jeff McNeil's jib. And these blue tops are growing on me. Go Metsies.
  15. 1-1 tonight with a run scored. You've hopefully shamed him back to his elite status.
  16. Nice! A trade! MOAR TRADEZ!!
  17. oh jesus christmas.
  18. It's back. Mets are going with a two-tone v-neck thing with orange caps. And the names. deGrom went from the wild and crazy "Jake" last year to "deGrom" this year. Easy, tiger. Montero is "Montero". Travis is "LIL d" again. I hope that wasn't his college nickname. Vargas is "Vargy". Matz is "Matzy". What happened to nicknames like "the Stork"? Where is "the Glider" for this generation? Oh, lookie here, I see David Wright is on there this year. Players weekend is Aug 24-26, in case you were wondering.
  19. yeah that color scheme doesn't work for me on the hat. Don't think I realized they were all red/white bordered cards!
  20. Also, I LOVE THE HELL OUT OF THESE 1983 TOPPS HATS. https://www.neweracap.com/SPORTS/MLB/Topps-35th-Anniversary/NEW-YORK-METS-TOPPS-35TH-ANNIVERSARY-1983-9FIFTY-SNAPBACK/p/11786270 These reject Houston Oilers hats?
  21. He did make a throw. Off-balance and moving away from first, but didn't look like it had a ton of mustard on it. Glad to see him moving around pretty decently, though. Go, Dave, go. [tweet:2hl5vmfx] [/tweet:2hl5vmfx]
  22. How'd he do last night? Anyone see any vids or reports of hist 2nd game?
  23. LOL CF. Who are the 4 dumb shits doing dumb shit on twitter?
  24. Good trade for both. Drury had a couple nice years back-to-back, versatile infielder with doubles pop, so maybe more HRs in that stupid baby park. Plus he's under control for a few years. I'd def take that dude on my team. Other homie, who knows. And Happ has sneakily been very good 3 of the last 4 years and instantly upgrades that stinky turd that is the Yanks rotation.
  25. G-Fafif wrote: Erstwhile coveted Oakland Athletic minor leaguer Will Toffey is now the No. 24-ranked prospect in the Mets system, according to MLB Pipeline. For comparison's sake, toast of New York Jeff McNeil is ranked No. 19, yesterday's winning pitcher Corey Oswalt is No. 14 and the top pick time forgot, Gavin Cecchini, is No. 18. So who the hell knows? So in comparison, the Brewers just traded their #13 prospect plus a 20-year old Dominican pitcher "with promise" currently in the rookie league for 34-year old Joakim Soria ($10M salary next year/$1M buyout). No international $$ changed hands, though. Easy as it is to crap on the Mets, $1M in international signing booty seems to carry decent weight.
