But when I first saw the link (above) and the word "chasing", I imagined you as a nutty version of Michael Moore, and Mays as your GM CEO. (Whew.) I almost used "stalking" in the article, but that didn't sound quite right (or legal). Did you edit that post? I don't know if I remember the word "stalking" instead of "chasing" or if I'm imagining (or projecting) the word.

If I owned the Mets, you two would each get your wish. If I owned the Mets, I'd ensure that no Met ever wore #17 again.

  7. Mariano's got 978 games played. I posted this a few days ago in the Trevor Hoffman thread. D'oh.
  8. Thread title of the year.
  9. This is a well known dance danced by dance partners who've danced the dance and studied the dance ad nauseum. Both sides know every step of the dance and every variation. No one is shaking in their boots when the player's side declares that negotiations will end on such and such a date. To me, whatever Reyes said is an insignificant non-story that I'll probably forget about before the week's over. Personally, I'd bet that whatever conditions came out of the Reyes camp aren't worth the breath they traveled on and that the if the Mets really wanted to, they could sign Reyes whenever.
  10. The 1970 World Champs team card is my guess for #2.
  11. Doc rounding first would place the old foul territory corner oufield Shea bricks in centerfield.
  12. I know the answer(s) because you've probably written at least ten posts over the years telling us what your all-time favorite Topps Mets card is. The guy on your #1 card is smiling even wider than '85 Mookie.
  13. Mike Pelfrey -- Nike David Wright -- Wilson Ronny Paulino -- Louisville RA Dickey -- Rawlings Jason Bay -- Easton Jeff Francoeur -- Mizuno I based my guesses on what little I know about this topic --nothing, really-, and by studying and working the permutations based on my fown, Irish and LWFS's answers, which were all 2/3 correct.

  16. David Wright wasn't the only Great Gazoo Met.
  17. #3 is Luis Rivera. It helps to have a collection of Mets baseball cards.
  18. Pat Howell's the base stealing outfielder.
  19. It's good to be a major league baseball player.
  20. Once there was a concern in some quarters that he was too much the Hollywood party guy. Then it was his relationship with ridiculously hot Canadian supermodel Marikym Hervieux. I had to google her. Just to see for myself. To fact check this article.
  21. The Omir of Santos.
  22. I haven't been able to get in. At least I now know that it isn't my fault.
  23. But even in a world full of egos, I'd bat Pagan no higher than sixth (if at all) if a lefty was starting against the Mets.
  24. But Casey liked it, even though he knows better than to play pepper. Someone could get hoit. I never did say where Casey got his non-standard Mets socks from. (I know we had a thread about that '62 Mets Rheingold ad --Edgy started it -- but I can't find it. So how does a thread that's less than a year old vanish? Ha! http://archives.cranepoolforum.net/12900/f1_t12962.shtml The socks Casey's wearing in this ad are the same socks worn by Gary Cooper in Pride of the Yankees. On the day of the shoot, the photographers realized that they didn't have any baseball socks for Casey. So one of the photogs drove over to the nearby Hollywood studios, where he raided the wardrobe department for Cooper's socks.
