I definitely have screen shots of Rickey's first at bat as a Mercury Met (which was necessarily the first at bat by any Mercury Met) on my hard drive, but I can't seem to find them. Rickey was, no doubt, surprised to see his altered image including an alien third eye between his human pair on the left field Diamond Vision scoreboard. But his expression was more astonishment than anger, I thought. As for me, my vitriol for those uniforms has tempered considerably over the years. With lotsa hindsight, I can see clearly now that the Mercury Mets were just a one-off novelty, and so no need to get so hot and bothered over the ugliness of it all.
  2. P.S. 193 is now the Gil Hodges School. I woulda thought that Gil Hodges Lanes were torn down years ago.
  3. Mural honoring Gil Hodges in downtown Petersburg, Indiana. The (Pike) county courthouse houses a bust honoring Gil in its' rotunda. Rotunda. But yeah .... where's that confounded bridge? 1o1tFUShcg8

Right now, their outfield's even worse than the Shinjo-Macrae-Payton-McEwing combo. Probably worse than this year's bullpen, too.
  5. Ya can't win the division every season.
  6. Looks like eff Wilpon finally got his wish.... . . . . . . . . .

Trade a guy who will probably be top..say 30 in baseball for maybe 2-3 years if not longer, for a guy who might be top 10 for 6 or so starting in 2+ years and also might be ..Mike Pelfrey or Dillon Gee? I'd keep Dickey. Depends on what the FO realistically thinks are the Mets chances of contending in the near future. or Depends on what the FO thinks are the Mets chances of realistically contending in the near future.
  9. I'm not denying that Dickey's in a slump, but I thought that he had excellent stuff last night. With a little bit of luck, he might've fared a whole lot better. In the inning that RA was tagged for four two out runs, Morse started the Nats two-out nobody on rally with a Texas Leaguer off the very end of his bat. If Morse makes out, it's a whole nuther story. Still, the luck's helped more than hurt RA, overall this season, I'd say. Dickey as trade bait makes a whole lotta sense, especially if the Mets could pull off another Beltran for Wheeler type deal.
  10. RA Dickey, slump and all, still tops all NL pitchers in ESPN's Cy Predictor. http://espn.go.com/mlb/features/cyyoung
  11. Kong76 wrote: I apologize, batmags ... just making a little sport of your knowing what date you told us Bay sucks. Jason Bay's fuck buddy had me laughing out loud. I'll accept your apology even though you've apologized for other things before, only to ..... I feel like Charlie Brown over here about to kick the football. I should probably hedge my bet by accepting your apology but still telling you to go fuck yourself. Just in case.
  12. Vic Sage wrote: Batmags, we agree on much, but not on this. It just dawned on me that you might think that this was all about Jason Bay and the merits of my post. Believe me .. that had nothing to do with Jason Bay and the Mets anticipated freefall. That was about him deciding to more or less tell me to go my fuck myself.
  13. batmagadanleadoff wrote: Kong76 wrote: You're funny, I'd ask about 6/11 but you are very hostile. What are you? Jason Bay's fuck buddy? I could tell you to go fuck yourself another 255 times and we still wouldn't be even. Vic Sage wrote: Saying "i told you so" is just rude. And saying it prematurely, with 2 months of the season to go, is just silly. That was a tongue in cheek quote, internet contexed. You took it much too seriously. And you're not without you're own "I told you so's". Just sayin'. NTTAWWT but go ahead and cast stone free etc. Vic Sage wrote: And saying it to the guy who gives so much of his own time and resources to keep this place alive, along with up to 256 "go fuck yourself"s, is... well, lacking in perspective. You' re dead wrong on this one. His role on the forum doesn't excuse his behavior. I don't know why you seem to think it does, or that he's entitled to some immunity for taking unprovoked pot shots at me whenever the mood strikes him. I'm not gonna bore you with the details because boring they are, but he's been provoking me since about my second or third day here. And he hasn't stopped. Yesterday's exchange might've included the nicest posts he's ever written to me. I usually let about 10 go by for every one I respond to but for now, I think I'm done with that tact. Vic Sage wrote: Batmags, we agree on much, but not on this. Whaddya gonna do? You'd be lucky to get five people to agree on what pizza they should order in.
  14. Heres a photo of the Mets latest program, featuring the obligatory David Wright cover shot. Ive got nothing against promoting the face of the franchise, but itd be nice to see Dickey make the program cover just once. Hes been the teams best pitcher throughout his entire Mets stint and even Turner and Gee made scorecard covers recently. Jon Niese made the cover twice in the last 12 months. There's still two months left in this season, and presumably, two more scorecards for release.

I don't wanna say I told ya so. But on 6/9, I told ya so. viewtopic.php?f=14&t=18031&p=476031#p476031 You da man, woo hoo. Go you!!!! You keep a diary of when you set us all straight? Really? 6/9? Scary. Go fuck yourself, jackass.

  22. Snooki'll be in the house tonight. The Mets will honor her presence by wearing the ugly black drop shadow pajama top shirts featuring the Gary Carter memorial patch on the chest. Tomorrow night, the Mets will wear the ugly black drop shadow pajama top shirts featuring the Gary Carter memorial patch on the chest, in recognition of Todd Zeile, who will not be in attendance but, it is rumored, will watch tomorrow's game on his television
  23. Nymr83 wrote: And hey, the Mets bullpen isn't just horrible, its CURSED! How else can you explain Dickey coming out of the pen and getting taken deep by Juan friggin Uribe? CURSED!!! It's the curse of Armando Benitez. This is what the Mets get for naming Roger McDowell over Benitez to the 50th anniversary first all Mets team as the righty reliever. This is what the Mets get for not even putting Armando's mug on one of this year's season tickets. You didn't think I was good enough for you? You will come to learn how bad not good enough can be. I curse you.
  24. Black jerseys? I love you, but fuck you, Fonzie.
