Finds Lane's familiar Mets pennant tucked away. He eventually hangs it up where it used to be displayed. Later he gets drunk, calls Freddy Rumsen, suggests going to Shea and when Freddy comes by to pick him up, Don sings a couple of lines of Meet The Mets. Freddy takes him home to sober up. When Don awakes the next morning, he asks, Did the Mets win? One of the great Mets pop culture moments of recent years. I was waiting for you to put up that post. The Mad Men are coming to Mets country.

This probably doesn't cover even a quarter of the magazine covers he made from mid -'71 thru '72. 8. Now THIS is a Save situation. (Farnsworth vs. Tulo and Arenado - 1 run lead - Coors).
  9. How would you define "last card"? 1994 Upper Deck All-Time Heroes As in his last card as an active player/MLB uniform personnel. There'll always be a rule-breaker. 1980 Ed Kranepool (last active season, 1979): [fimg=351]http://img.comc.com/i/Baseball/1980/Topps/641/Ed_Kranepool.jpg?id=b0ffda04-3d45-446c-8ee0-431cbe2a3af3&size=original[/fimg]

Yup His final Topps appearance was in 1969 Technically, no. His last Topps appearance wasn't in 1969. 14. In 1975, Cleon Jones's last season with the Mets, there were two active baseball players who batted righthanded and threw lefthanded -- both out of MLB by early 1976 -- Cleon, of course, being one of the two. Who's the other?

  18. metsguyinmichigan wrote: It's the tail on the iconic Mets on the home ['93's and '94's] that I found upsetting. You can blame eff Wilpon for that. I will. He became the de facto owner in charge of the Mets around the time that Al Harazin became the team's GM. And MLB needs at least a year's lead time to authorize a uniform change. So yeah .... the timing is right ... there went eff Wilpon deciding to put his personal stamp on the Mets brand and image and about the first order of business was a pointless (and Dodger-like) remake of the classic Mets home uniform wordmark.
  19. Lute Barnes never had a card. Phil Hennigan was on other Topps cards before his Met stint. I'm not sure if they were on the post-season roster, though. In fact, I'd be surprised to learn that they were on the post-season roster. I guess Yogi didn't go bench-deep in the post-season.* 'Cause judging by your quiz, there were several active Mets who never got off the bench in October. *Well of course Yogi didn't. (See, e.g., "The George Stone Fiasco")

Awful. Which is not to say I don't have one with MURRAY 33 on the back... Details. Home or Road? '93 or '94? It'd have to be a '93, I suppose.

  24. The Mets once wore their home jerseys against the Rockies in Denver. When? Why?
