  1. I bet a lot of people would choose "°Take this Job and Shove It".
  2. I think offices should have "walk-in" music. So when you get to work and walk in through your employer's door, 10 or so 15 seconds of your "walk-in " music should blare from the company speakers.
  3. I wonder if MLB has to pay royalties for walk-up music.
  4. Edgy MD wrote: I thought it was "Black Dog." But I wasn't listening closely at the moment (dog barking, actually). Keith couldn't name Alonso's walk-up song but he hummed a few bars - pretty accurately, I'd say.
  5. Keith Hernandez riffing on when "Led Zeppelin used to put out great albums all the time all in a row." He's probably talking about every single one of their albums except their last two - Presence and In Through the Out Door, because who the fuck listens to those two what with the rest of the catalogue to listen to. That last album doesn't even sound like a Led Zeppelin album, but whaddya expect with Jimmy Page totally zombied out on who knows what drugs? This all started with Pete Alonso's walk-up music, which Keith identified as Led Zep music, but couldn't name the song. I think it was The Ocean song. You are correct, sir! https://www.mlb.com/entertainment/walk-up/nymhttps://www.mlb.com/entertainment/walk-up/nym Matz and deGrom both have Lynyrd Skynyrd songs as walk-ups. Aren't they buddies? And one Met has The Stories "Brother Louie". Cool, but I cant figure out which Met that is.

  7. I just saw this photo and for a few seconds, I thought to myself, WOW!, this guy's been around for a very long time. He played with Wade Boggs. I'm really losing track of things. https://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/2c095663eeeb571308e4df9cb4c96720956784f1/c=0-326-3897-2518/local/-/media/2018/06/24/USATODAY/usatsports/ec41807fbe8b439aad3c79485bddc943.jpg?width=3200&height=1680&fit=crop>

  11. Or instead of pitching, Mickey could put Alonso In right field to make room for Dom, like what Terry Collins did with Lucas Duda when Duda and Ike Davis were teammates. Make Room for Dom. That should be the title of this thread.
  12. Edgy MD wrote: Everybody can play another position. The best managers can always find trips to the plate for guys who hit. Oh. I misread your post. Its everybody else who should play another position. Okay. That's even easier. So Mickey should have Alonso pitch when Dom plays first base.
  13. Edgy MD wrote: Everybody can play another position. The best managers can always find trips to the plate for guys who hit. Maybe Mickey should let Dom pitch a few starts. He'd be the best hitting pitcher on the team. Then when it's Diaz save time because Diaz is only allowed to pitch the 9th Inning, Mickey can shift Dom over to shortstop what with Rosario making so many errors and Dom's bat too hot to sit. Or Mickey can have two first baseman at the same time. Rest the third baseman. He sucks and besides, nobody hardly ever hits the ball over there anyway. And with both Dom and Alonso standing on first waiting for the throw, the infielder can't miss with so many targets to hit. What's your idea?
  14. All of the cover subjects are holding bats. First time that's happened in any bracket.

  16. That's a good point. Thanks. Larger margins of victory are, really, the foundation of the Pythagorean theory -- the idea being that games that get out of hand and where the outcome is no longer in doubt are indicative of a team's strength. Good teams tend to win more games by larger margins whereas the closer the game, the more luck is involved and the less indicative of a team's ability. So to discount those "blowout" runs is, in a way, to undermine or even nullify the entire Pythagorean theory.
  17. Restore the Thor is stupid. First off, it comes off as if the reader is being asked to do something. Me? What the fuck can I do? Or what am I even supposed to do? Restore Thor to what? To the roster? To the rotation? I didn't know Syndergaard was gone in the first place. Restore what -- Thor's pitching prowess? Only Thor himself can do that I suppose. Maybe it should've read Thor, Restore Yourself. Or maybe the headline's a message to Thor's pitching coach. Does Thor's pitching even need to be restored? In that case, maybe the headline should've read Thor! Restore Your Pitching Skills. Though that would imply some diminishment in pitching on Thor's part. And you can't have that because then it's not uplifiting. And you'd have to stick your head in a mayonnaise jar and cover your ears to block that negativity out. God help any newspaper that tries to cover some downturn in an honest but downliftingly fashion. It's moronic. But it rhymes, I suppose. so there's that.
  18. I'm with Ceets on this one. Restore the Thor sounds clumsy and contrived. And besides, shouldn't it be Thor Restored if you buy into this whole restoration thing? The News is the best back page visually, but I deducted points for the lack of originality Mane Man heading. I thought the Post's copy was the best.
  19. The only criticism (or skepticism) I'd raise about the Mets dismal run differential is that it's still too early in the season to make much out of. But the Pythagorean theorem is still a powerfully accurate tool, correlating strongly with a team's final W-L record. Throwaway runs allowed by the last relievers on the depth chart? They're not throwaway runs or meaningless runs because it's a telling sign just that a team reached a point in the game where it had to utilize those very back of the rotation mop up pitchers. So those tack on runs shouldn't be discounted. Besides, the formula's accuracy speaks for itself.

  21. =G-Fafif post_id=8959 time=1556826405 user_id=55] Seaver stuck with the big club throughout his two-week June comeback attempt, so there would have been no detour to Florida.
  22. That's a weird shot of Seaver on the '83 mag. I always thought it strange to see him in that style uni that he'd never wear in an actual game. His facial expression is unusual to my eyes, given my expectation of what Seaver looks like, or is supposed to look like. And it looks like Seaver's wearing a tiara.
  23. Which means that if Seaver was stilll working out in Florida at the Mers facility after the start of the regular MLB season, he might've worked out in the Mers '87 roads. You were right the first time around but .mixed me up a bit when you threw in the word Summer.
  24. AFAIK the Mets have worn the specific year's BP jerseys as their ST garb since around that time (84-87) So then what are you referring to when you write about Seaver wearing the '87 roads during ST ''87? Curious here. EXTENDED! I.e. during the summer I thought was where Seaver was doing his attempt. Not in the actual March camp. Oh I see. Summer Spring training. When is extended Spring Training usually then? I know that is a genuine thing, still to this day. And FWIW, Seaver ended the attempt literally on the second day of summer! https://www.amazinavenue.com/2013/6/22/4455088/this-date-mets-history-june-22-tom-seaver-retireshttps://www.amazinavenue.com/2013/6/22/4455088/this-date-mets-history-june-22-tom-seaver-retires I dunno. ST, to me, is what happens down south before the start of the regular season. Extended ST ends in the late Spring, when some of those A ball and short season leagues start, I think.
