  3. Aerosmith and The Eagles are the greatest classic rock bands? (rolls eyes). Wouldn't make my top 30. Jeez, all that's missing here is for the other guy to chime in and add Kiss and Switchfoot to this conversation, whoever the hell Switchfoot is. Did I suddenly get transported to some bizarre alternate universe of bad taste? With KC as the DJ, it's likely.

  5. This landslide poll is a breath of fresh air. I thought I was practically alone in the NO camp. Me, Edgy and VicSage. But it's a pretty unanimous against. As it oughtta be. I think that what drives me absolutely bonkers the most about this idea of retiring Carter's # is that it comes up often in the media, supported by journalists.
  6. Willets Point wrote: To think that just a year ago people were aggrieved that this douchebag wasn't signed by the Mets. Biggest bullet dodged ever! At the time, the pursuit of Bauer was the right thing to do. That the Mets lost out to the Dodgers ... that the Dodgers ultimately signed Bauer, and not the Mets ... is probably proof. MLB would've lost its fucking mind had Cohen signed both Lindor and Bauer in the same off-season.
  7. I wonder what would happen if a pitcher comes in to replace an injured pitcher and then doesn't stop warming up? What if hes warming up for like 45 minutes? Or three and a half hours? And then the ump finally tells him to stop with his warmups and to "Play Ball!". If I was that pitcher and I wanted to continue warming up, what I'd do is to then plunk the umpire right between his eyes. Because then apparently, the ump wouldn't be allowed to throw me out of the game all because my replacement pitcher would get to warm up for as long as he likes. And God help us all then. The world might explode if that pitcher could warm up for as long as he likes. That would also be a neat rain delay trick if my team needed to delay the game hoping it'd eventually get called on account of the rain.
  8. =Marshmallowmilkshake post_id=91153 time=1651579052 user_id=119] I remember on the broadcast the announcers being dismayed that they were not tossed after the HBP following the warning. Perhaps the new plan is to leave them in the game and suspend later? Throwing them out means a new pitcher has to come in cold and take as long as he wants to warm up, taking forever.
  9. =G-Fafif post_id=91150 time=1651552044 user_id=55] I read on the eve of the season they didn't plan to wear it, just use it for promotions. Seems like a missed opportunity.
  10. Weren't the Mefs supposed to wear that logo as a commemorative patch on their unis this season?
  11. Is Keith Hernandez sick? Or on vacation? He's been gone for more than a week, it seems.
  12. =G-Fafif post_id=90874 time=1651356879 user_id=55] Cluck on the images.
  13. See one of you fellas in at least the quarterfinals. https://twitter.com/anthonydicomo/status/1520384257419587585 I also like the Post cover, even if it's photoshopped. No other way to get all five pitchers in one shot. But I don't know how youse can rate the other ones. All I can see is the top half of one and the bottom half of another one. Reminds me of miscut baseball cards.
  14. Interesting graphic from a few minutes ago: other than a strike season, the Cards haven't had back to back losing seasons in 63 years. Wow. Had no idea about that.

That shot of him muttering as he walks off the mound is the Matz I know. Not today. Looks like Matz is suddenly on pace to get the Win today. Still lots of time for his patented "take a big shit on the mound." We're both wrong 'cause he's out of the game. 4IP won't get him a W. But he wont get a L either.

  17. Jake Holmes was an opening act for the Jimmy Page era Yardbirds. One night, Holmes plays his "Dazed and Confused" before a Yardbirds concert. Page is instantly fascinated by Holmes's song, and that descending bass line. Later that night, Page goes to some Greenwich Village record store, where he buys Holmes's album. The Yarbirds then cover the song, steal it, really, as Holmes isn't credited. The song carries over to Page's next band, where it becomes a staple of Led Zeppelin's live set.and one of its biggest hits.
  18. =ashie62 post_id=90432 time=1650998419 user_id=90] That's why the play the games, right?
  19. I'm not a big RBI fan either. At least with the RBI producing at-bat, though, someone else is getting credit for a run scored. And now there's FIP.
  20. =metsmarathon post_id=90415 time=1650992362 user_id=83] btw, m.e.t.b.o.t. woulda shaeffered as follows: smith 5.10 scherzer 3.21 mcneil 0.71 canha 0.56 diaz 0.24 escobar 0.15 nimmo 0.02
  21. I saw this game. Most of it. I was suddenly overcome by a powerful urge to go to sleep in the middle of the ninth. Which I did. When I woke up the next morning and checked the box scores, I saw that I had missed quite a bit of action and back and forth over a missed inning and a half. But I couldn't figure out, as much as I tried to, how McNeil got on second in the top of the tenth. I finally figured it out after about 10 minutes and several box scores and scoring summaries. I found the answer in a game article. That ghost runner business hasnt sunk in, yet.
  22. I'm with Chuck. If he was hurt before the QO and other offers, and there was any chance of surgery, he would've agreed to some deal or other. This was probably just bad luck. Sometimes, things just don't go your way.

  24. I don't like the idea of advertising on baseball unis, but if I was a Padres fan and in the market for a 2023 Padres jersey next year, I'd get the one with the Motorola patch. I like my jerseys to look just like the ones the players wear, whenever possible. Just my preference.
  25. Edgy MD wrote: Edgy MD wrote: What do you think about trying to remake Jacob deGrom as a closer? I'm trying to fighte out your top post. Convert Jake to a closer mainly to help the Mets, or mainly to get Jake into the Hall? Well, the idea is hopefully to get the best career value out of him and effect both outcomes. See just above.
