1. =Gwreck post_id=91733 time=1652109676 user_id=56] I thought the sculptor's answers were reasonable and sensible. Am I missing something, or is this not a big deal at all?

Kudos to the sculptor for fessing up to his mistake straight up without trying to come up with some insulting bullshit cover-up excuse like the Wilponesque "we're adding black prominently to the Mets uniforms because black was always one of the Mets colors" when informed of the mistake by Lukas.
3. Also on that day in Mets history, a far more memorable Home Run....

I always heard Motown on the NYC classic rock radio stations I grew up listening to. Way more than either Aerosmith or The Eagles, that's for sure. Just sayin'. In fact, I can't, right now, think of more than two Aerosmith songs that got any play at all -- Dream On and Walk this Way. Also, Dolly Parton's in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. So if Dolly, ...

10. Something in the middle. 24 is probably going to be treated like 7 or 8; it's not going to openly assigned, but if someone asks and has a good reason, sure, they can have it. As opposed to anything actually retired (or #5), which are not available. "7" is getting the (sigh) "8" treatment? I did not know that and it doesn't look that way from the way "7" has been issued, historically. On "24", I don't have a good feel for what might happen next, but if I had to guess, I'd go with how the number was treated just before it was assigned to Cano because given Willie's advanced age, if Cohen was leaning towards retiring "24, I'm guessing he'd have done it before announcing the retirement of Keith's "17, given the apparent urgency of the situation. That's all I got. I'm staying out of whether "24" should even be retired by the Mets in the first place.
11. =kcmets post_id=91557 time=1651881632 user_id=53] It would be sad if it's remembered as the fuck-a-band game. It's just a band. We're not in middle school. 'Turn up the speakers.'
12. Edgy probably logged out, all fed up with the music crap.
13. Last coupl'a seasons, you'd figure the Mets would blow a six run lead in the 9th.
14. Tying run on 2d, down to last out. Mets batted around in 9th.
15. Frayed Knot wrote: If asked for my favorite band I'd check if they meant band or just artist/singer. And if the answer was band then I wouldn't include the likes of Dylan. So while I didn't start this topic, the qualifiers were band and American, thus rendering much of your original list invalid. p.s., I'm not picking Aerosmith either So no one's allowed to have Blind Faith or Derek & the Dominoes or the Traveling Wilburys as their favorite band because those bands only put out one studio album? Because if I have permission, put me down for the band that recorded Dylan's Bringing it all Back Home as one of my favorite bands.
16. Fair enough. So well break up Bob Dylan's output into 15 different bands. Or 20.. And I'd wanna listen to any of them any day over Aerosmith.
17. Chad ochoseis wrote: I'd put Steely Dan on the American Bands Better than Aerosmith list, if you consider Walter Becker, Donald Fagin, and various sidemen a band. I remember The Old Mole had a long Facebook discussion on best American bands. REM got a lot of love, though not exactly classic rawk. Its a band. A great one. What? Lenny Kravitz's band isnt a band because its named after Lenny Kravitz but Fleetwood Mac is a band because its named after more than one of its members? What the hell does the band name have to do with anything?

19. Johnny Lunchbucket wrote: Kiss? Probably not but closer than you think I really like it when Gene Simmons sticks his big fake tongue out. Cool. What are you, eight years old? Gimme a coupla more minutes and I'll easily make my list all-American. And they're all bands. What? A band isnt a band because its named after the main artist? What solo acts? Nobody's playing all of their instruments except maybe Stevie Wonder.
20. Edgy MD wrote: Yeah, I think bml missed fman's ... the "band" thing. What? There's a musical act on my list that's not a band? They're all bands.
21. Fuck the Eagles. I like Joe Perry but Aerosmith lacks any originality. They're not innovative or groundbreaking in any way at all. Steve Tyler is a total Mick Jagger knock-off and the band comes off as a weak, limited Led Zeppelin wannabe. And that's before MTV came along, when Aerosmith then morphed into the ultimate cheeseball commercial money-grubbing schlockmeisters. The best? Please.
