  1. Bronson Arroyo...one ugly dude.
  2. Fun fact that I found out while doing oppo research (read "googling because I have work to do that I don't feel like doing") - Jamie Moyer is the son-in-law of ex-Notre Dame basketball coach Digger Phelps.

Astros - pitching, pitching, pitching in the Astrdome - Ryan, Richard, Scott, etc., etc. I've heard this before, but never understood it. I could see why the Red Sox would want to load up on right handed sluggers to take advantage of Fenway's asymmetry. But why would it be more important to have good hitters in a hitter's park and good pitchers in a pitcher's park? If J.R. Richard is a better pitcher than, say, Ray Burris, he's a better pitcher when they pitch in the Dome, and he's a better pitcher at Wrigley. The raw ERAs - for both pitchers - may be higher in Wrigley because of park effects, but better pitching is useful anywhere. Maybe even more so in a hitter's park. Oh, yeah, and I have the same opinion of home runs that Crash Davis has of strikeouts. So I like the way Citi Field plays.
  4. It's looking more and more like Blanco is Pelf's personal catcher.

  8. http://dmdb.org/lyrics/benny.bell.html#ikey Ikey and Mikey were digging in a well, Said Ikey to Mikey, "I hope you go to Hel- -en's birthday party, you will be quite a hit." Said Mikey to Ikey, "I think you're full of shi- -sh-ke-bab and pizza, and you drink a lot of tea, And every hour on the hour you have to make a pe- -anut butter sandwidge, to feed your hungry heart, But when you eat those Boston beans you always leave a far- -eign letter in my mailbox- you're a crazy man, Sometimes I get so angry I could kick you in the can- -dy store and hold your head, beneath the water tap, 'Cause when you say you're sorry, that's just a lot of cra- -bgrass, my buddy, so if you're really wise, You'll ask me no more questions and I'll tell you no more lies."
