  1. Schwellenbach out! We have a chance.
  2. He had a 1.692 WHIP coming into the game. So it was more than just a lousy night. He had a 1.562 WHIP last year. So it's not like this is an aberration. There's really no excuse to start him while Butto is available.
  3. I know we don't have a lot of options but my god. Stanek?
  4. Beautiful. Schwellenbach walks one and Soto makes him pay. Sometimes the hardest strike to throw is the one where you absolutely can't throw a ball.
  5. There is absolutely no reason to start Blackburn when we have Butto. This is just a refusal to admit a wrong.
  6. Schwellenbach pitch count creeping up. At this rate he may only go 10 or 11 innings.
  7. What an awful offense
  8. Blackburn is the most non-competitive pitcher I've seen pitch for us in a while. It surprised me we traded for him. It surprised me we tendered him a contract. And it depresses me he keeps pitching.
  9. Wow this offense is pathetic. 6 pitches.
  10. Blackburn gives up the lead. Shocker.
  11. And so it begins.
  12. I hate going into a game knowing that it's a stretch to get a competently pitched game. More confident they will hit Schwellenbach
  13. There was a season not long ago. Maybe it was 2022? Where the Mets were good but didn't have any signature wins. But a bunch of cock punch losses. This feels the same right now. I can't remember one game this season where the Mets had a thrilling come from behind win.
  14. Just checking in now. Looks like it's not worth tuning into the game. Mets have serious problems.
  15. Frayed Knot wrote: Does Chavez get credit for the players who have improved their hitting this season [Pete, McN,Lindor] or just blame for the ones who didn't? Using secondary coaches as scape goats is a lame exercise most of the time. 'Hey, let's blame all those we have no emotional attachment to!' I think it was Bobby Valentine that had all of his coaching staff fired after a losing streak. It does seem like a very Wilpon thing to do. But that being said. Alonso is perhaps the biggest indictment of Chavez there is. The one guy who's having a great year and is producing with RISP is Pete. And it was recently revealed that he's using outside consultants provided by Boras Corp to help with his approach. It's the first year he's done this and the results are mind boggling. Terrible and flailing all year under the Mets instruction in 2024. MVP numbers once he goes outside the organization. McNeil too. Last year he famously ditched the Mets instruction and went back to his approach of just trying to hit the ball hard. And he's back to being productive. It doesn't necessarily mean that Chavez is terrible. But it doesn't look great. Outside of Pete and McNeil, Lindor has been his usual self. Torrens and Taylor have been as expected (not great). Marte has had a nice resurgence for an older player. So really the best argument you can make for Chavez is that Lindor has been terrific. On the negative side, just about everyone else has underperformed. Soto got off to a slow start, and is still having a down year. Nimmo, also a slow start and having a down year. Vientos and Alvarez have been terrible. Baty, Acuna and Mauricio have all played themselves out of playing time. Winker and Siri were bad in short stints before getting hurt. Is that enough to fire Chavez? Probably not. We don't know what's happening behind the scenes. But if you're judging based on results, there is very little to suggest he's doing a good job. Contrast that to the buzz around JD Martinez last year. The players raved about his insight and approach. Who know if it was real or not. But for me, I can't help but wonder.
  16. It's hard to grasp how much damage has been done in one week. We may not see 21 games over .500 for a long long time. Certainly not in June. Probably not in July either. Just a fucking disaster.
  17. What the Phillies did there was something the Mets never do. Going with the pitch. Situational hitting. Horrible approach. All year long.
  18. Ok. I'm out again. I'm seriously considering not watching tomorrow too.
  19. Great. So now Garrett sucks.
  20. I mean wtf is he even watching.
  21. I can't believe I'm saying this. But the Mets need a new 1B coach. Between this and the Pete fly ball in Atlanta.
  22. Nice job! I've seen enough. Let's move Butto back into the rotation.
  23. High leverage reliever here please. Keep it tied for the top of the lineup next inning.
  24. Those are the first runs the Mets have scored in the second half of the game since Nimmo's 7 inning HR in the Peterson CG.
  25. 2-2!!! And we still have four innings against the Phil's pen.
