How about a show called "Meet the Mets". Follow a Met throughout a typical day from cereal with the kids, to batting practice, etc. Interview his family, his friends...it would be light-hearted, and focus more on the individual than the player. I think it would be a great way to get fans to connect with their team. We could also do some trivia-type game show.

The bigger question is winter-time programming. The YES Network has the Nets...obviously the Mets network can't get the Knicks. How do they fill this void?
  3. Ducks release an ineffective John Rocker.http://sports.espn.go.com/minorlbb/news/story?id=2095781Where does he pop up next? Beer league softball? Professional wrestling? Reality TV?
  4. No Mets closer has ever made me feel secure...and we were fortunate enough to watch a guy who notched 400 saves and another guy who won the Rolaids Relief thingy. When I have a rooting interest for other teams, (like when they play the MFY's) their closer makes me just as nervous, if not more. I could have killed Keith Foulke a million times last October. Of course, this might just be me. I'm such a freak, when I watch replays of Game 6 of the '86 NLCS, I get nervous that this time Kevin Bass will knock one out of the park.
  5. Oh, and another thing, can ESPN possibly interview more people during a telecast? Omar Minaya, Brian Cashman, Willie Randolph, Joe Torre, the point guard from Wake Forest...I thought they were going to pull random guys from the stands and start interviewing them."This is Sam Ryan, and I'm here with Joe from Connecticut..."
  6. Benson aside, no one really played well enough to warrant winning that game anyway. Like FK said, we score only one run if the MFY's didn't leave their gloves at home. Two out of three, second straight series win, bbbyyy...Still makes me mad.

  12. Do we have an update on Dougie?
  13. Was out today...I'm watching the re-play on YES. Michael Kay is unbelievable...I can't believe a professional announcer can sound so depressed during a telecast. He sounds like his wife just left him for Cliff Floyd.
  14. Wait, we're allowed to get Burrell out?
  15. Make sure you turn on the radio to keep you alert.
  16. While I don't agree with the trade, we can get FAR more for Cameron than Giambi, I don't think Giambi is necessarily done. While I doubt he will ever be an MVP candidate again, is it out of the question to think he'd be capable of .280, 25, 95 RBI? And as someone mentioned, he still draws walks and gets on base. I think he'll turn it around, and if you can live with atrocious defense, the steroid-ridden baggage, and Yankee excrement on your team, he might not be so bad an option if the Yanks were to eat a significant portion of his contract.I however, would rather not live with such excrement, so I pass on him.
  17. When we win one, yes you know you’re gonna see,You’re gonna see us get shut out a game or two When we lose one, don’t get too melancholyCuz you know we’ll win the next game just for youCliff will hit one, in the tenth and jump for gleeAnd you’ll be feeling really great about our crewThen we’ll go west, and we’ll lose two out of threeTo a last place team cuz that is what we doAnd we will play 500 ballBecause we are a 500 teamWe will win one, lose one, all year longWe’ll make you smile, we’ll make you screamWhen we’re winning, yes I know it’s such a teaseCuz when Pedro’s on there’s nothing we can’t doWhen we’re losing, we keep piling up the E’sAnd leave you feeling really frustrated and blueWhen you come home(When you come home), when you turn on that TV You don’t know which team will show up to play for youAnd if you grow old, you know what it’s gotta beyou know this team is prematurely aging youAnd we will play 500 ballBecause we are a 500 teamWe will win one, lose one, all year longWe’ll make you smile, we’ll make you screamfa la la fa la laDa Da Da Dun Diddle Un Diddle Un Diddle Uh Da Dafa la la fa la laDa Da Da Dun Diddle Un Diddle Un Diddle Uh Da Da
  18. If I had three wishes one of them would definitely be to wish for more wishes.
  19. Piazza may have slowed up, but there's no reason to bust it if there is no chance you'll be thrown out. The catcher wasn't even covering the plate...I'm sure it never crossed his mind that David Wright would get himself thrown out before he reached the plate.I understand this is a young team, but things like that, including Diaz missing the cut-off man, are things you're taught in Little League.
  20. I can't believe no one wripped Wright for his bonehead play on the bases. Sure Piazza is slow, but he's not the reason the run didn't score. You never make the last out going to third...but, you never never make the last out going to third moments before a run scores. If you are going to make a bonehead play and get gunned down going to third, at least get caught in a rundown to insure the run scores.
  21. What about Baginski?"What about him?"Well, he's only hitting .027..."I think you have to give him time. The kid shows a lot of heart, plus his play in the field is much better."Does it have anything to do with the fact he bought the team?"Next question."I love this commercial. The scene where he's calling his shot as the pitch whizzes by floors me every time.
