  1. He seems good with the players, good with the press, not so good with in-game decisions. It's true, he made a good move last night, but I don't think it was that difficult a decision. But he has made some questionable moves this year that leave you scratching your head.Of course, I may be unfairly comparing him to Bobby V, who is one of the best in-game guys around.
  2. Benson = 4Woodward = 2Floyd = 2Looper = 1.5Bert = .5
  3. .On Edit: (ok just checking)
  4. Wait, does this mean we can't avi?
  5. He's the guy that landed on the moon.Duh.
  6. I was going to start a thread just like this today. It's amazing how long these three days seem.
  7. They have a way of taking the lead and looking like dumbasses all at the same time.
  8. Make them pay Mikey. Come on...I know you got something left...
  9. Damn. Carlos needed another foot. Damn.
  10. That was like, kinda nerveracking.
  11. Yay Batch! Pound the small headed one!
  12. According to Game Day, Cliff Floyd is facing the extremely small-headed Tony Armas .
  13. Infield single by the pitcher? Can anyone give more details?
  14. Yup. I actually wish Beltran would take a few days off and let his quad rest as well.
  15. There goes the no-hitter.
  16. Couple of quick thoughts before I head to bed:*Eventually, Cameron has to realize blue is giving the inside corner and swing at that pitch*Was Wright waving Anderson to third or Castro to second? Either way I think it was bad advice...I suspect he never saw how close Livan was to the ball.*Bases loaded, one run game, bobble by Anderson who then throws to stone-hands Offerman. I think it's safe to say there is no such thing as a "routine" ground ball when those two are involved.*I'm with Widey. I'm starting to think Glavine is just not going to come around.
  17. Are you crying? There's no crying! There's no crying in baseball!
  18. At the same time, I don't see any teams with good, young pitchers looking to unload them for anyone, much less a high-strikeout, low BA all-or-nothing guy like Dunn. If that package doesn't get it done, I'd pass.
  19. Seaver and Davey Johnson...two guys who won World Series with the Mets who bristle when the other World Championship team is mentioned. One day, I'd love to hear a broadcast with Keith and Tom where Keith talks about '86 and then turns to Seaver and says, "Hey Tom, you were on that Red Sox team weren't you?"
  20. You're right. I completely forgot that Charles Johnson, Jim Eisenreich and Manny Barrios were a part of that trade.Actually, it's not that I forgot, I don't think I ever knew that until I looked it up just now.
  21. Wow, Klapisch's article makes it sound as if the trade talks are much further along than the Post article. How funny would that be? If we get Sheff, we get every member of that Marlins-Dodgers blockbuster trade in '98.
  22. I think there's no question that it's Gene Hackman. What did you guess about the AFLAC duck?
  23. They're down a pitcher since we saw them last. From ESPN.com:Randy Wolf has decided to take the advice of his doctors and will undergo season-ending "Tommy John" surgery on his left elbow. Dr. Lewis Yocum will perform the procedure on July 1. "This is a big decision," Wolf said. "It's something that has a huge impact on my career, and baseball is something that has been my life. I didn't want to rush into it. When you hear you're not going to be pitching again in the big leagues for a minimum of 12 months, it's tough."
  24. I miss Bobby. I know it's completely unfair to Willie, but with this group of youngsters mixed in with a few veterans who are good in the clubhouse, I can't help but think this is exactly the type of team Valentine would take to the playoffs. And do it with such flair that you can't help but love the team come October.
